OT, but Jay is a DUI attorney, right? I thought I heard that somewhere. So the 4th of July week would be busy for him. Sad but true.

Is he a DUI lawyer like the (using a hilarious local ad I've seen..) PIZZA LAW FIRM WE SUE DRUNK DRIVERS!! Kinda lawyer? If so I think that explains my semi dislike for him. He reminds me of an ex who was a used car salesman. He just gives off that vibe.
Ps: he normally comes to 4OJ though right???

Only Bc I've learned that if I go for VERY short visits (5 mins most time. Maybe a couple for 8) over about a month I can prevent myself from getting absolutely FRIED in the sun on the beach. (Even applying 75 spf every 2 hours I got pink this year :( ) I never get real color from it, but it does expose me enough so I'm not complete toast before we leave the beach. Maybe that's not even healthy but I want to pretend it is. Image
Actually, it _is_ healthier than getting fried. Even one bad sunburn increases your chances of getting skin cancer. One of my friends used to lay out like crazy, and she looks twenty years older than I do, and I don't have perfect skin because I tanned when I was young and stupid. I never used a booth except before my wedding and honeymoon. Young people use tanning salons here in California, and if you tell them what they're risking they just laugh at you. They're immortal and ate going to be young and beautiful forever! But they should be protecting the kids better.

LOL. I get it. There's something smarmy about it. Although I do believe in our system, and that everyone deserves a defense, DUI lawyers piss me off. Making money off of getting drunk drivers off. Ick. I dated one a couple of times. He drove a really nice cat and had a beautiful horse. And all that money was made helping rich DUI offenders get away with it.
Sorry for the OT rant.

Ugh, I had no clue he's a dui lawyer. That changes my outlook on him completely. No respect for people who defend those pieces of shit.

Looks like he owns his own attorney company and it's just him if I am reading it right.

Do they share their last name? I am just quoting someone here saying he's a DUI lawyer. I don't know for sure, which is why I was asking. I don't want to be repeating false information!

Well, that didn't take much snooping. Yes, he's a criminal law attorney, but he specializes in DUI according to his website. Won't link it, because it's probably against the rules. But it's not hard to find.

It is quite easy to find. Disappointing, looks like he's defending the shitheads of the world. Wonder how he'd feel if one of his children or Gaines & Brooks were killed by a drunk driver.

Or sexually assaulted. Like I said, I know our system requires that everyone have a defense. But it isn't fair-- rich people get a better defense, and I just can't respect someone making a good living off of defending the entitled a-holes who can't call an Uber.

Amen. I was starting to like them and found myself watching them more than I do C&K. Not sure if I will anymore.

I can't imagine doing that job and being able to sleep at night. Drunk driving is one of the more selfish, heinous crimes imo. There's no defense or justifiable excuse for it, and he's over there capitalising on it. I wonder Kelly is bothered by it (I would be) or if she likes her nice things too much to care.

Wasn't a Kardashian part of OJ Simpson's defense team?
I know defense lawyers are necessary. I just think that the system is slanted towards the wealthy, because they can afford better attorneys. Hopefully Jay does some pro bono work...

Eh. I get that criminals need defense, and that everyone needs to make a living, but defending DUIs is too much for me. There are all sorts of defenses for crimes like murder (not excuses, but defenses) plus the possibility of innocence. No one innocent gets arrested for DUI and what possible defense could you cook up for driving drunk and endangering lives? That's the definition of scumbag lawyer tbh

I'm late to commenting on this but just saw it. I definitely agree that one bad sunburn increases your chances of getting skin cancer. I have never been a "tanner" and have only spent a total of maybe 45 minutes in a tanning bed in my entire life (5-10 minute increments for light therapy one winter in my early 20's and I never got burned). I did however have several bad burns in my teen years from babysitting and taking kids to the pool and not bothering to put sunscreen on my back :/ At 28 I was diagnosed with stage 1 melanoma... I'm 34 now and have since had 22 total surgeries on moderate to atypical moles that have showed signs of change or were new and developing. It is a horrifying experience. I honestly do not understand the tanning culture at all, and that was even prior to my own terrifying diagnosis. I was lucky though in finding it early, especially on my back, and did not have to have any further treatments. I am insanely vigilant about the sun now though!

My best friend's mother (basically like my second mom) was just recently killed by a drunk driver so my view is probably skewed but I think drunk driving is incredibly stupid. There are so many safer options today especially with Uber and Lyft and it is incredibly dangerous to get behind the wheel. I think if you get caught and receive a DUI, you should automatically have to spend the night in jail. The laws are way to lax in my opinion and if someone is stupid enough to risk others' lives they should suffer the consequences

My sister was recently wrongfully accused of a crime and thanks to her defense attorney she is a free woman, home with her kids.
I agree, If you are driving while impaired you should get more than aa classes and fines ..

And that's why I have no problem with defense attorneys or our justice system. But no one gets wrongfully accused of a DUI. You either pass or fail the test, and are treated accordingly.

Crimes are committed for all sorts of reasons, some of which are excusable and some are not. DUIs are never excusable. Personally I'd like to see anyone driving under the influence lose their driving privileges for life because drunk drivers are often repeat offenders. People like Jay are part of the problem; these criminals get reduced sentences or a few months with revoked licenses, and then get back on the streets and do it all over again because there were no real consequences last time. They make too much money off of drunk driving to ever truly want to see things change

Defense lawyers for pedophiles & DUIs irk me because like RootBeer mentioned, that's something that can be prevented and sought out help for since it's a disease.

@onbreak - Did I read that right? You know someone's dad that was on OJs defense team? :O
