It really depends what your associates degree is in. I have an associates degree in nursing and make $70k a year. No I’m not balling but I live comfortably as a single mom with 1 child.

I understand it’s different as Jess has an associates degree in some type of education, which means she needs her bachelors degree. Plus she has like a million kids so her cost of living is a lot higher as she has more mouths to feed. Im not talking about Jess specifically, but I general - it is possible to make a decent wage with an associates degree if you pick the correct major.

Wow, here in my area you could NEVER make that much with an associates in Nursing. In fact, our local hospitals laid off all nurses with an associates. So now a LOT are going back to school for their BSN. Though some had to still work so they transferred to local offices and nursing homes. Even nurse friends with associate degrees that had been nursing for many years made nowhere near $70K tho! Wow!!!!!

You can have an Associates or Bachelor’s but more hospitals are leaning toward Bachelor degrees in nursing and to be in management you almost always need a BSN.

Would they lose everything? Obviously, Mr. Wonderful would have to work and Messica would have to stay home to nurse all day but what do you picture happening? Just curious as to other people’s thoughts...

I think it would be a serious catastrophe to her. She can’t live without blowing money on dumb shit.
Chris would have to work probably two jobs because we know she’ll never leave the baby and she’s way too lazy to work.
They would probably lose everything

As much as I dislike Jess, I don't think it's fair to shame her for not going back to school. That's not what everyone thinks is successful. She wants to be a SAHM. She probably went to college before because it was "the right thing to do". She has children to take care of (even if she does it barely) so college isn't the most important thing. Just my two cents...

I don’t think anyone is shaming her for not going back to school, it would be one thing if she admitted that she was done and just wanted to do YouTube & be a SAHM. Especially if Chris actually had a good job. I think the problem is that she said that she IS going to finish her degree and she IS going to be a teacher. Like why can’t she just be honest?? She always has a different excuse and she is never going to become a teacher

I think it just depends where you live. I know that where I live, nursing is extremely competitive and most go on to get at least bachelors. Also, i’m sure nursing school is far more difficult than whatever general education Jessica got.

I don't think anyone would say anything if Chris worked if it seemed like Jess was putting a lot of money into savings or paying off their house and other debt. If we saw that they had a game plan for after YT since they have seven children to provide for other than sponging off Mimi.

With the mortgage, the cost of living and the 2 cars? (Chris got an new one, I think?) Holy crap, I think that might put her into debt really quickly. She's never specified how her cost of living (everything included) is like, but nobody can tell me, that at 24 she purchased a house, two cars and did all the renovating stuff cash, there have to be a few loans and credit cards in there.

Jess does not have the academic ability to pursue an A D Nursing at Modesto Junior or a BS Nursing at Cal State Stanislaus IMO. Both those degree tracks require courses in college chemistry, microbiology, anatomy as well as a great deal of clinical training. You can't just pass those courses by surfing the internet and looking at your phone. Personally I do not think she is also not up to higher level college classes required to get a teaching degree.

I guess it's a side effect of growing up in a certain economic class but nursing and teaching both seem like bad choices to me? They both require long hours, can be extremely competitive, and the pay wouldn't begin to cover her and the kids' expenses. To be fair unless those 'work from home!' scams suddenly become legit she's kinda screwed - what job requires few hours, pays $$$ and will take a 2 year jc degree?
