I truly believe him and Bryan Lanning think they will take shays spot as the top family man on YouTube.


I actually think that's already happened. I'm not big into family vloggers though so maybe I'm wrong.

Same.. i can just picture Bryan and Jared facetiming each other in sheer giddy glee when they heard the news. OMG WE ARE TOTES GONNA BE THE MOST POPULAR DADS ON YOUTUBE!!! *said in my very best Bryan Lanning valley girl voice*

Actually, the big confession was before he announced that they were quitting. But he said it was "in the past", and that he'd gotten sober on a camping trip with his dad, brother and Gavin. And then he got into the running and juicing, and lost all that weight, and was doing CrossFit. It's the last few months that he's been seeming like he was drinking again.

Idk if I'm not looking in the right places, but in general this whole thing doesn't seem to be hurting their channel at all? I thought there would be more of an up roar?

I think a majority of people will turn a blind eye to it because they either don't believe it or they give excuses themselves. That or for sensitivity sake for the kids don't mention anything?

Ohhh. i had heard it on a podcast, the only one i have ever listened too of theirs, and i thought it was announced at the same time, didn't know there was a vlog about it, i haven't watched them in years. I've watched a handful of videos since then... (Last time i watched even semi regularly was back in the "Best Spot In the Lot" days.. i still sing that song when i get the best spot, out of habit..lol)

Wait.. now im confused... WTKGTS, is that a vlog or a podcast, bc i could have sworn i listened to a podcast, but then looking at these videos maybe it was this i watched?? Are they both?? Bc i feel like i heard the End of Shaytards one and the Weaknesses one.. Maybe one linked to the other? I have a horrible memory with things like this (but can remember random trivia for year and years.. my brain is weird lol) Either way, i guess I have two vlog/podcasts?? merged in my mind. Oops.. sorry,.

Thanks guys. I've been a very casual viewer for... 3-4 years maybe? Can bigger fans tell when he's drinking? Is he more jerky or just more uninhibited? I know there's talk of them as a family being disinterested about blogging lately but just curious.

I'm pretty sure it was a free podcast on iTunes, but they recorded it live on either blogtv (when it was still around), or YouTube and then would split the two episodes and upload them to the WTKGTS YouTube channel. I hope that made sense.

It's really sad how (at least what I've seen on my personal twitter feed) all these youtubers saying how they're supporting shay, but nothing is being said to Colette.

He seriously named his book that? Are you kidding me?!

I'm sure Gavin may have self esteem issues, or could in the future, and his own father calling him fat, whether it's for a book or not, is not going to help.

Ugh that's horrible! I haven't watched them since waaaay back when Gavin was around third grade I think (this was when they were living in ca for a year and then moving back to idaho) and even then he was so sweet. If he's overweight it's absolutely not his fault - an overweight child is the parents' failing, not the kid's. They should have privately encouraged him to be fitter in a positive way that wouldn't embarrass him or damage his self esteem. This is literally the exact opposite. If you're an overweight parent who has raised an overweight child the least you can do is not give them a complex about it by humiliating them! It's true sometimes it's a bad cycle that needs to be addressed but shay could have easily written about his experience more tactfully.

Looks like he wasn't in any rehab and dancing with Colette at Charle's Trippy's wedding last month. It's all in their full wedding video posted. Kind of disappointed in her but it's their life and her marriage. I think it's just not a one time thing and how many times can you keep picking up the pieces and teaching your children, especially the girls, that it's ok for your husband to drink and cheat while preaching a wholesome life and being happy when obviously nobody is.

Yeah, I really don't think he went to any inpatient rehab. He was very cagey about it in his tweet. He said something like "my purpose is to rehab". That's not the same as "I'm going to rehab". He wasn't just at the wedding. He was seen skiing with Colette, and out at hotels in Salt Lake City. There's a bunch of news articles saying he went to rehab, but they don't actually know. They all quote that same tweet.
The thing is, that if he really is an alcoholic, he _needs_ to go to rehab. God isn't going to cure him this time either. And since he's not really suffering major consequences, he's likely to relapse again. And what if he kills someone?

Yes exactly and from when they were seen at different things there is no way he did a full normal rehab for alcoholism. He would still be in if he went in from day 1 in a lot of places. I don't buy it either, they were fixing to go off for a year and I think they just went with plans they had in the first place. He probably started seeing a counselor and maybe a marrige counselor and called it good. Poor Collette. I really like her even though I don't understand a lot of what she's put up with. She deserves better.
