I'm pretty sure he works as Bryan's assistant now and edits their vlogs, so I'm guessing they moved there for the extra income. But it is really stupid to rely on YT for a career.queentee20 wrote:Ok this... which blows my mind so f***ing much. How could he think they’d make enough money off youtube?! Plus, we'll see how long being on Bryan's payroll lasts. He has a pretty high turnover of "assistants".

Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
Do you mean when they went on their van trip and were COMPLETELY broke and relied on Missy and Bryan for almost all their money?? They had a Patreon account and M&B were giving them at least $1000 a month.MadeHD wrote:hmmm The kind of guy that left his job to travel? ... You really don't realize how much youtubers make. Corbin was only working PT before the trip and did Kelsey even have a job?? They had very few YT subs and views back then. I think they couldn't afford to live in Portland and had to move - so the van trip was a good way to disguise their homelessness.

Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
He quit his job in May 2015 and they didn't move out of that apartment until April 2016, so they were somehow paying their rent, but I bet it was tight. I don't think either one of them has ever held on to a full-time job with benefits. Kelsey was still on her parents insurance (with no prenatal coverage) when they conceived. I would guess they're relatively comfortable with Corbin's assistant income, but who knows how long that will last? And they started at a disadvantage, given the fact that they've always been flying by the seat of their pants and living paycheck to paycheck. I doubt they had a large emergency savings fund, retirement, etc. I imagine whatever savings they did have went towards purchasing the van, fixing it up, and then paying for all of the repair work when it broke down every other week. Given their reaction to that sale on eBay falling through, I have a feeling they lost money on it. They're also buying their own health insurance, which isn't cheap and the premiums will likely go up significantly. How long will the YouTube gravy train last? You can make good money for 5 or 10 years, but when it stops, it stops. Unless you make a large windfall and invest it wisely, they're going to be SOL when the YouTube audience dries up and they don't have any discernible skills or a job history to fall back on.ewokfan11 wrote:Do you mean when they went on their van trip and were COMPLETELY broke and relied on Missy and Bryan for almost all their money?? Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
Nobody said you had to be intelligent or a hard worker to do well in life. With Bryan and Missy's knowledge of youtube they are helping S2W move ahead where they otherwise never would have gone. Bryan set their channel up...the marketing...the Fullscreen network Partnership...Sponsorships...camera technique/tips....computer/software.
Even if Bryan and Missy paid for separate housing for Corbin, missy's parents, cassie, missys brother, bryan's mom, and bryan's sister and then their own house payments/utilities/cars... The daily bumps and their channels still have A LOT of money left over per month. That's not including brand deals.....and other available opportunities, write offs, royalties from songs, gifts sent to them from fans/marketers, company & network freebies and savings. When I said $100,000 per month that is being very conservative.
Temecula/Murrieta/Wildomar has cheap house rentals. It looks like the rental they got into needs some work (and the floor plan is horrible). ...so the rent can't be expensive. I can't imagine their rent being much more than $1,700 out there. Even if they paid $2,000 per person that is still only $12,000 per month. If S2W had 2.4 Million Views last month and their videos remained monetized....They made enough money to pay rent and take care of their utilities, food, travel expenses, and some extras. If you are not supposed to go beyond 30% of what you make per month on housing DB are still well below that mark while covering their costs and the rest of their families/friends. ...and don't forget Cassie makes money from her Channel too.
Missy and Bryan probably only spent a little money to get S2W stabilized and going. Plus I imagine Corbin's family is better off then Bryans (waitress) or Missys (UPS and disability payments) parents ever were. I think B&M are able to save and invest more money than most realize....and.... unless there is a DRASTIC shakeup at Youtube or with Google or somehow Missy, Bryan or the Kids do something to lose their monetization, get sued or loose the fans I don't think they will have a problem. If they even save 10K per month for ten years that is 1.2 Million saved (although I'm guessing they save at least half of their monthly income). By then everything would be paid off and the kids mostly raised. I don't see Bryan or Missy doing this into their 40's ....and they could always pass the channel down to their kids to continue.... Financially they are fine.
$150,000 a month or $2 Million a year while doing minimal work is not far fetched at all.
DB Y.T. Channel (Average): 60 Million Per month / $120,000
Missy YT Channel (Average): 3.5 Million Views per month / $7K
BL YT channel (Average): 1 Million Views Per month / $2k
Brand Deals: $0 - unlimited potential - An Extra $10,000 per deal.
Music Royalties (CD, itunes, radio) : Every time their songs are played on the radio they get paid. Guessing at least a few thousand per month on sales and radio.
They can buy electronics and things all they want because it can be written off. ...Computers and cameras are FREE. Any studio equipment is a write off. A company vehicle could be a write off. If people send them gifts they can donate them for more tax write offs or sell them on ebay. They can afford to throw $50,000+ on upgrading the pool area or $15K-$20K on a polaris. Buying all that stuff keeps people watching and give them something to do for the videos. Its almost a necessity at this point. The cars, polaris, and the yard upgrades are less than 2 months pay for them. That's all I'm going to say about the Youtube Money.

Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
I don't doubt that Daily Bumps is profitable at the moment and I'm sure Bryan and Missy are set financially if they save and invest properly (although they admitted they didn't even have retirement accounts until recently. Unless that was a lie to embellish the sponsorship they had, that really makes me question their claim that they worked with financial advisors in the past.) I think the claim that they can finance seven households may be far-fetched. But regardless, there is no guarantee that their two friends from high school will continue to profit off of Bryan and Missy's success. Even Bryan and Missy will lose viewers and popularity over time, and their are real expenses to running a business of that size. They have their network, their managers, their lawyers, their accountants, their "assistants," their music producers, etc. Their income may be large, but so are their expenses. Furthermore, Kelsey and Corbin didn't earn that and are only "entitled" to it as long as Bryan and Missy want to share. So they really shouldn't hang their hat on Bryan and Missy always being around to support them, for various reasons.

So because they didn't want to spend money on a second couch or chair they put cushions on the floor? lol, that looks weird and uncomfortable.

So today Corbin says that in their lease it says they have to keep that fridge, even though it's broken. They are just not very bright, are they? That doesn't mean they have to live with a broken fridge. They are going to poison their Thanksgiving guests with that fridge acting up like that.

Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
Boy, they sure are learning about the pitfalls of renting an older home with older appliances versus a brand new apartment. I won't even begin to wrap my head around what Corbin says is in their lease, because he's an idiot and I wouldn't trust his interpretation. I can't believe they fought with the rental company to be allowed to spend their own money to put grass on someone else's property. He really doesn't realize how stupid that is. Who wants to spend money installing grass for a yard they don't own and probably won't be using in a year?
I don't think their channel grew quite as much as they anticipated after their move. They're back down to less that 100,000 views per day on average, sometimes significantly so. I wouldn't be surprised if they're back down in the 50,000 per day range soon.
They've started dropping hints about being cash strapped again, which is in stark contrast to a month ago when they were buying an expensive new dining set, bedroom set, etc. Now they're accepting Missy's old furniture. They don't have enough seating in their living room, but instead of getting more furniture, like a chair, they bought floor cushions. I noticed that everything they bought from Target (stuff to make their guest bathroom usable, pillows, kitchen items, enough dishes for everyone, ect.) was from the least expensive line Target sell, the "Room Essentials," which to me has a "dorm room" vibe. It's something I would expect to buy for your first apartment out of college, but probably not once you're married and in your late 20s, unless money is really tight. And it sounds less and less likely that they will be renewing their lease, so it's particularly funny that they
spent money on expensive furniture for a space they probably won't be living in this time next year.

Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
Wow. I have a rental property and I couldn't imagine accepting $$ for rent and telling my tenants they have to live with a broken anything.. Let alone a fridge.
Id buy a cheap 399$ one off the floor at home depot and move the broken one outside.. Then when I move out take my fridge and leave the broken one outside.

It’s so cute when people think that because something is a “write off” that it’s free. Adorable lol
The Bumps earn about 1-1.5 million a year right now. After taxes, expenses, paying employees and taking care of family, I’d estimate their take home for just them at around 3-400k. Which isn’t nothing. But if they’re not saving it, in 5 years they’ll be destitute.

They had to buy cushions to put on their floor for seating, I doubt they can buy a fridge...maybe Missy has one they can use? That's how they got a washer and dryer...
Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
I haven't watched any of the vlogs since they moved because they are boring and I don't want these weenies to make even a dime off my view...but with that said, as a 32 yr old mother of two I wouldn't spend a lot on buying extra items that would only be used this once either. Honestly, I would go buy extra plates, towels, ect from a thrift or dollarstore. Heck i may even splurge for fancy paper plates since I have no intention in using all this crap again after my guests leave.HashtagBlessed wrote:Boy, they sure are learning about the pitfalls of renting an older home with older appliances versus a brand new apartment. Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
So if the landlord owns the fridge, couldn't they call him and tell him it's broken? Then the landlord can pay to get it fixed or get them a new fridge.
Is that not how renting works?
