It's almost like some people WANT these kids to have autism or ADHD or whatever. Yea sure nothing to be ashamed of but its not exactly something you hope for. And that damn Christmas budget was annoying me too. There's a million and one ways to do Christmas. And I'm sorry but I never wanted books either for Christmas. I always got TOYS. who cares. I wasn't developmentally delayed because of it either. *eye roll*

Another thing that's bugging me is this crap about speech delays. My kid is speech delayed and gets speech therapy at school during the week. I never even realized she still had an issue until I was around her little classmates while she was in pre-k and I was having full blown conversations with them. I had been told before "oh her speech is fine. No more speech therapy for her!".

I must be the mother of the flippin' year, huh.

Kaden - Autistic, speech delayed
Landen - Autistic, speech delayed
Calvin - developmentally behind
Jackson - minor sleech delay (not speaking any more words than when he first started)
Nolan - developmentally delayed (not walking by 1)
Jakoby - speech delayed
Macey Gaines - significantly disabled (possible troll)
I left out Lily because I don't know the full extent of her actual problems

I think labeling a child as autistic is wrong, but speculating whether they are delayed or not isnt causing harm.

In my personal opinion, suggesting that a child is delayed implies that they may have a condition such as Autism. It is one of those discussions where one thing leads people to talk about the other.

I suppose to some, I view delays as kids taking their time to learn. Some just take a little longer. I think MG is at the right stage in speech, and Ollie is very behind. For him, it's probably because he isn't talked to often enough. I wouldn't say he has autism, but he definitely isnt on the average schedule

Yeah, when people randomly pop up and tell us how someone died or their family member is in the hospital.

This site has been crazy lately. I swear it feels like every single thread someone is diagnosing a kid. Everyone is apparently a child expert and because their kid or they spoke full sentences by the time they were 2 years old, every kid who doesn't do the same is behind.

I think that emotions run high for some people this time of year. The holidays are not a good time for people who may be struggling with loss, family stress, etc.
