Thank you!! Seriously, a "write off" is not free. You still pay for that item/trip/whatever. The amount of that item (or a %) goes as a tax deduction towards your taxable income.

WOW! That fridge situation is not OK. They seriously need to buy their own fridge if the landlord won't replace the broken one. A broken fridge is basically a safety issue. I noticed when I lived in LA that lots of people had to buy their own fridge, so it doesn't seem that odd to me - but they probably don't that the $$$$.

That rental is A DISASTROUS MESS!!!!!

Yeah, missy and Bryan bought their own when they rented as well.
But at the same time, if appliances are included in their lease then the appliances need to be in working order. It may even be as simple as the landlord/rental agency getting a repairman out to replace the part.

The Bumps earn about 1-1.5 million a year right now. After taxes, expenses, paying employees and taking care of family, I’d estimate their take home for just them at around 3-400k. Which isn’t nothing. But if they’re not saving it, in 5 years they’ll be destitute.

They will never be destitute lol.

...and It's practically free when everyone else has to pay for theirs but they can use theirs for running a business, BRINGING IN A LARGE AMOUNT OF INCOME, and keeping memories. The MINIMAL cost is nothing. Its a tiny cost of running a business. However I can see some people don't have the personality or tech abilities to do this kind of work so I guess it depends for some that kind of cost is a risk. In this case they are more than established and can spend $800 on a camera.... The people I listed, they can all take care of themselves, so throwing out a figure like $12,000 on paying other people's rent is super high. Paying an employee for a days work here and there is a drop in the bucket. Their costs come from LIVING ...and their is no reason to sit at home and never spend anything. They are young, have decent health and they have the money. They SHOULD have a good time. Even at the low ball figure of 400K a year, in that area it allows them to be MORE than comfortable for a longer time than say living in New York or LA....but then again casey nesitat seems to be doing just fine too. I don't think you need to worry about a youtubers financing just enjoy the show.

Are you even 18??? You don't seem to know the details involved in running a business - like tax issues! This isn't even DailyBump's thread.

I won't even begin to wrap my head around what Corbin says is in their lease, because he's an idiot and I wouldn't trust his interpretation. I can't believe they fought with the rental company to be allowed to spend their own money to put grass on someone else's property. He really doesn't realize how stupid that is. Who wants to spend money installing grass for a yard they don't own and probably won't be using in a year?

I don't think their channel grew quite as much as they anticipated after their move. They're back down to less that 100,000 views per day on average, sometimes significantly so. I wouldn't be surprised if they're back down in the 50,000 per day range soon.

They've started dropping hints about being cash strapped again, which is in stark contrast to a month ago when they were buying an expensive new dining set, bedroom set, etc. Now they're accepting Missy's old furniture. They don't have enough seating in their living room, but instead of getting more furniture, like a chair, they bought floor cushions. I noticed that everything they bought from Target (stuff to make their guest bathroom usable, pillows, kitchen items, enough dishes for everyone, ect.) was from the least expensive line Target sell, the "Room Essentials," which to me has a "dorm room" vibe. It's something I would expect to buy for your first apartment out of college, but probably not once you're married and in your late 20s, unless money is really tight. And it sounds less and less likely that they will be renewing their lease, so it's particularly funny that they
spent money on expensive furniture for a space they probably won't be living in this time next year.
I haven't watched any of the vlogs since they moved because they are boring and I don't want these weenies to make even a dime off my view...but with that said, as a 32 yr old mother of two I wouldn't spend a lot on buying extra items that would only be used this once either. Honestly, I would go buy extra plates, towels, ect from a thrift or dollarstore. Heck i may even splurge for fancy paper plates since I have no intention in using all this crap again after my guests leave.
Not saying this is the why or how with them, just stating a different opinion on this

I would totally just do paper plates if I was having a large group over, mostly because we live in a condo with a small dishwasher and I wouldn’t want to do all those dishes. But I would imagine a lot of 27 and 28-year-olds have place settings for between 8-12 people. A lot of people include that on their wedding registries, or purchase it themselves if they like to entertain. Kelsey and Corbin mentioned that they like to host Thanksgiving every year. I don’t know how many people they expect over for Thanksgiving, but knowing them I would be surprised if it’s *that* large of a crowd. But some of the other stuff are things you purchase if you have a guest bedroom and guest bathroom, like a bath mat and a set of sheets. Those aren’t items you only use once a year.

Is that not how renting works?

I have only ever lived in rental properties (in Southern and Northern California), and each one has come with a fridge. In the few times that the fridge (or any other appliance) has acted up, I just call the landlord and they send a handyman over. It's the biggest perk of renting rather than owning! Though I do look forward to the independence of home ownership at some point.

I had to bring a fridge and washer and dryer with me in the rental I'm in, but like you, whenever anything else goes wrong, I call my landlord, and it's taken care of. My dishwasher started smoking when I started it up just before we went out of town recently. When I got home, there was a brand new dishwasher in the kitchen all installed. So I don't understand why they haven't called their landlord. It makes no sense.

I'm looking at total daily views across their whole channel, not the views they average per video. You're right, views per video for recent vlogs have been in the 20,000-30,0000 range. They definitely peaked when they moved to CA and started featuring Daily Bumps regularly, but now it looks like they're heading back to the same stats they had in Portland. They're just not entertaining. They ask rhetorical questions in a baby voice to a child that's too young to respond, they complain, they talk to each other in these weird infantilizing whiney baby voices, the end.

Oh my gosh, they are sooooo boring. I tried to watch today's vlog and had to turn it off as soon as Corbin showed up. They should really just look into other career choices, they suck at this one and they have to know they are not entertaining at all. Poor baby Juniper, I can't imagine growing up in such a dull atmosphere.

It sounds like it's Kelsey's mom and siblings and Corbin's aunts and cousins for Thanksgiving. Will he ever explain what happened with his parents??? It seems so weird that they have only met June ONCE and just over a short dinner.

They are just not engaging in front of the camera. The stuff they try to fill a vlog with is baffling. They want all the headpats in the world for doing the most basic adult things, like making something to bring to a potluck. They'll claimed Kelsey was in the kitchen baking those two pies all day, but earlier they revealed that she didn't even get to the store until 11 am.

I noticed that they tried to decorate the top of their pumpkin pie with a pie crust turkey that looks undercooked. I put leaf cutouts on my pumpkin pie and the trick is to pre-bake the decorative pieces in the oven on a baking sheet with egg wash on top and then add it to the pie halfway through baking once the custard has set. That way they are the same golden brown as the rest of the crust and you don't have uncooked dough on top of your pie. The fact that anyone gave them a "cooking show" is hilarious. They love to exaggerate their hobbies- they pretend that they're so outdoorsy but we all know the only time they spend outdoors on a regular basis is sitting on their patio furniture staring at their brown lawn. Similarly, they love to claim that they are "foodies" but these cooking segments make it abundantly clear that they can't be bothered to learn anything.

So Corbin's parents already sent June a Christmas gift? Sorry, but it's a little sad that these grandparents don't or can't see their grandchild. I've always thought Corbin cut them out of his life over financial issues. Corbin seems like a total asshole.

His parents also sent Christmas decorations for their home. That makes me think they not visiting is because of Kelsey and Corbin and not because his parents don't want to.

I know there is nothing wrong with June, but JHouse's youngest daughter is literally a few days older than June and already standing and saying "hi guys" and waving. Maybe having older siblings helps?? June isn't even crawling yet, right?

Kelsey had four outfit changes in the vlog. LOL

That seemed like an awkward Thanksgiving. I'm actually surprised they didn't just go to the Lannings.

Yeah having older siblings is a huge help. The time difference in development between say a first baby and a fourth is crazy. Hanging out regularly with other babies and older kids helps a lot too (socialisation is really good for babies!) and if she's pretty much with Kelsey and Corbin day in day out then she is gonna be slower to develop. After 10 months with no crawling or attempts to crawl is considered late but yeah she's not a super genius baby.

I think even if they had a strained relationship on their end with Corbin they'd probably make an effort for their granddaughter but I agree it seems like it's more Corbin. Kelsey's family seemed totally over the moon when Juniper was born and desperate to be involved and help out but they haven't been to visit or anything, right? I think they like to keep family at arms length unless they can be used for something like financial help or babysitting.
