Haha I'm sure they will wish him happy birthday, on his actual birthday...

Me too! I recently started watching YouTube videos at 1.5 speed so it isn't as time consuming and then with these shoutouts, I think it's great that he's doing them, it just makes the vlog watching time super short for me haha

I was hoping the important phone call from today was an offer acceptance on a house! I'm sure it'll be coming soon. They deserve it.

I'm excited for them to purchase a new home, and I understand being semi secretive about it but dang I would love to see more of the process. Home renovations and the like are SO my thing.
And I am so glad today's blog was back to normal. I liked his different editing but was getting bored of the shout outs.

Out of all the vloggers I watch, I believe Cullen has the most talent in editing. I think it is great he shows off that talent and continues to improve himself while others seem to sit back at on their laurels. I also enjoy their adult humor and how they appreciate their viewers.

I was coming here to say the same thing. Poor baby girl looked so scared and sad! It was funny at first, but now I'm like ok this needs to stop.

What is up with Katie, her shorts and riding boots? I have never seen someone wear shorts and riding boots! Cowboy boots, yes. Riding boots, no.

I agree, Gaines clearly HATES it when Cullen pretends he can't see her. She doesn't understand. She is clearly upset, screaming, and tearing up but Cullen keeps doing it in video after video. I think he struggles with knowing where to draw the line when doing something that he thinks is funny/entertaining for the vlog that's also uncomfortable for the kids. Like the baby swing drone stunt.

Anyone care to venture a guess as to why she's reacting that way? Do you suppose she thinks Cullen really can't find her?! I thought it was a funny/cute little skit too, especially the couple times she was on the refrigerator. But if she's gunna cry about it....!!

That's exactly why, and Katie of all people should know this. At her age, they don't know what's fantasy and what is real. In other words, everything is real. If daddy says he can't see her, he can't.
Personal: do you all know the old rhyme "step on a crack and you'll break your mother's back"? When I was a little older than Gaines, I stepped on a crack, and my mom was carrying a laundry basket and tripped and fell and hurt her back. I was sure it was my fault. It's one of my first memories. So if they're scaring her, they need to cut it out. Like Jared with that awful hot dog "I cut off my finger" prank, it'll be fun when the kids are a little older. But at this age, they're way too literal.

Today was the only time she has ever cried or showed that she was upset about it. She has always looked like she was having fun before. I bet Cullen will take a break from it too now.

I see. I guess it's hard for me to fathom her taking it so literally, being far removed from that age myself, & having pretty much zero experience with small children.Image

I thought it was funny when he first started doing it in the vlog, her being in full view the whole time. I didn't realize her repeated "Gaines right here!!!" would amount to the fevered pitch it has the past couple days! I was kinda like "are you kidding me right now?!" when she got so visibly upset-- but at the same time, felt bad for her, because she's really not a drama queen: At least they don't usually portray her as such (diva, yes- for sure, LOL, but drama queen, not so much!), so obviously she was legitimately upset... I just didn't understand exactly what/why it was upsetting her so much!

I'm sure she's belly laughed in the past when they've played a "peek-a-boo" type game with her by covering her with a blanket & saying "where's Gaines?" then removing it & saying "there she is!" But I guess that's different to a kid, cuz while covered with the blanket, she can't see them either, whereas with this "plain sight" game, she sees them the whole time.

She didn't seem to take it as harshly the couple times Katie's done it. I have confidence he'll stop doing it (within the next couple days anyway). On top of being a great father, he's just not vindictive like other vloggers, who would continue to do something just to spite comments, in an "I'll show them" fashion. There's been several the past couple days telling/pleading with him to stop. I'm sure it's pretty obvious to him at this point not only is she NOT enjoying the "game," but his viewers want him to stop too. If he'll stop adding all those (absolutely hilarious) extra clips & sound effects because a few negative nellies complained --even tho 95% of the comments on the extra work has been positive-- he seems to worry more about pleasing the people who say "knock it off." (In that case, I wish he hadn't listened! I hope he goes back to the extra editing, or includes it frequently, I just think it adds to the entertainment value 10-fold!) But the "where's Gaines" will stop, or at the very least, change to a less traumatic version!

Sorry for the ramblings!Image

She did seem to be enjoying it when Katie did it, that's why I said _if_ he's scaring her he should cut it out. I'm sure if she had freaked out the first time, he wouldn't have kept it up. You're right, he does do goofy stuff for the vlogs, but he is a good dad, and I doubt he will continue it like some others would do (cough cough Bryan)

Actually, in yesterday's vlog she started to tear up too it was when they were switching cars towards the end. That's when I realized that Gaines was no longer having fun and they should stop. Like someone said, Katie being a child psychologist, should know better. And their reply to a comment was a bit condescending which is one of the reason that I stopped watching them at first. Katie or Cullen replied that "it was her idea BEFORE the camera was on" that might be so and maybe if the camera wasn't on she wouldn't of reacted the way she did but that comment to me seems a bit snarky. Remember that even though she is "advanced" she is only two and her way of thinking is different the a ten year old. She might really be scared that her parents don't see her. Personally, if I were them I would respect that she doesn't want to play that game anymore, or at least not let it drag on so long that she is literally screaming that she is right here and in tears. I hope this is the last time we see this "game" for awhile.

BTW, that's awful you were so traumatised by that "step on a crack" thing! It's funny now that you're older & know better, but sad you were so certain you were responsible for busting your mom's back at the time!
& Jared's hot dog prank didn't go over the way he'd anticipated at all!!! It's actually funny he left that in the vlog, considering it was a TOTAL flop (as far as getting the reaction he was hoping for, which I'm glad he didn't, especially with how Boston can be at times!) The only person he fooled for a hot minute was poor Bonnie, who seriously thought he'd cut himself. Other than that though, FAIL!! Image
