It made me sad too!!! She seemed to like it a few days ago but yesterday she seemed to get a little upset and today it really made her upset..
Anyone care to venture a guess as to why she's reacting that way? Do you suppose she thinks Cullen really can't find her?! I thought it was a funny/cute little skit too, especially the couple times she was on the refrigerator. But if she's gunna cry about it....!!

That's exactly why, and Katie of all people should know this. At her age, they don't know what's fantasy and what is real. In other words, everything is real. If daddy says he can't see her, he can't.
Personal: do you all know the old rhyme "step on a crack and you'll break your mother's back"? When I was a little older than Gaines, I stepped on a crack, and my mom was carrying a laundry basket and tripped and fell and hurt her back. I was sure it was my fault. It's one of my first memories. So if they're scaring her, they need to cut it out. Like Jared with that awful hot dog "I cut off my finger" prank, it'll be fun when the kids are a little older. But at this age, they're way too literal.

I see. I guess it's hard for me to fathom her taking it so literally, being far removed from that age myself, & having pretty much zero experience with small children.
I thought it was funny when he first started doing it in the vlog, her being in full view the whole time. I didn't realize her repeated "Gaines right here!!!" would amount to the fevered pitch it has the past couple days! I was kinda like "are you kidding me right now?!" when she got so visibly upset-- but at the same time, felt bad for her, because she's really not a drama queen: At least they don't usually portray her as such (diva, yes- for sure, LOL, but drama queen, not so much!), so obviously she was legitimately upset... I just didn't understand exactly what/why it was upsetting her so much!
I'm sure she's belly laughed in the past when they've played a "peek-a-boo" type game with her by covering her with a blanket & saying "where's Gaines?" then removing it & saying "there she is!" But I guess that's different to a kid, cuz while covered with the blanket, she can't see them either, whereas with this "plain sight" game, she sees them the whole time.
She didn't seem to take it as harshly the couple times Katie's done it. I have confidence he'll stop doing it (within the next couple days anyway). On top of being a great father, he's just not vindictive like other vloggers, who would continue to do something just to spite comments, in an "I'll show them" fashion. There's been several the past couple days telling/pleading with him to stop. I'm sure it's pretty obvious to him at this point not only is she NOT enjoying the "game," but his viewers want him to stop too. If he'll stop adding all those (absolutely hilarious) extra clips & sound effects because a few negative nellies complained --even tho 95% of the comments on the extra work has been positive-- he seems to worry more about pleasing the people who say "knock it off." (In that case, I wish he hadn't listened! I hope he goes back to the extra editing, or includes it frequently, I just think it adds to the entertainment value 10-fold!) But the "where's Gaines" will stop, or at the very least, change to a less traumatic version!
Sorry for the ramblings!
