8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
Abby and Julie’s new room is really nice....for an adult? It looks like a hotel room, just like a Russell’s. I just think it’s so ridiculous that these kids are never allowed to have anything personal in their rooms! I totally get not wanting clutter but they should be able to display a few things, they don’t even have a book shelf to display their books. You would never know what any of these kids’ interests are by looking at their rooms and that’s just sad.
I do think having a separate study area away from Eve and Russell, and in a space that is not their bedrooms, is a good idea. Just kind of weird that Ruby made such a big deal about the classroom but didn’t mention only two of the kids would be using it.

Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
As a child I never had to think as having a bed as a prize or gift.
I know some people can’t afford a bed, but the Frankes can.
Making their kids sleep on the floor or on mattresses on the floor where some rooms have been flooded is very very wrong.
Poor girls. They don’t even have a bedside lamp. It’s an empty room except for two beds and a bird cage. The beds are way too big for the room. But they were probably free. I would never ever buy from that brand, just because they sponsor this witch.
I think minimalism is ok but it doesn’t have to be emptism. I think all children think like Chad, that it lacks fun. He is just the only one brave enough to say it. And I know the girls would love some fairy lights or some other type of decoration. Maybe one of those boards where you can clip pictures.
Also Ruby is a minimalist when it comes to the children’s rooms, clothes, toys, and even food. But she herself has everything she wants.
Anyway... I understand this is like getting better because they used to sleep on the floor. Probably their prize for agreeing to be homeschooled.

Excuse me, but I don't understand why do Julie and Abby need a whole room for their desks when the family have a huge attic and Ruby has been talking about using it as a classroom? I mean, there's plenty of room in the house. Not only the attic, but the kitchen, the living room, there's another living room downstair...

Probably their other punishments would have been not allowed to have anything to eat or be forced to sleep on a beanbag which I know seems like something that no one would do to their child but of course ruby would do this if they didn't agree to do homeschool.Gigi7 wrote:As a child I never had to think as having a bed as a prize or gift.

How the hell are they still getting sponsorships? Geez, this woman admitted in a vlog to the world that her kid slept on the floor for seven months and that they have no friends. Now a bedding company, of all things, is sponsoring her? They should've told her they wouldn't sponsor her unless she gave Chad a bed. He was the one sleeping on the floor for seven months and then his bed and room got destroyed in a flood, but, no, the girls need brand new beds before Chad gets even a mattress that isn't moldy and damaged from water.
Also, I'm glad the girls get a private space for their studies and stuff, but I feel like they'd be happier with their own rooms. Julie was so, so excited about getting her own room. Now, suddenly she wants to share with Abby in that tiny room where their beds are almost touching and there's literally no room for anything else in there? The girls were totally acting in that video for the sponsorship and I know it was 100% Ruby's idea for them to share a room. Why not, instead of shoving them into a tiny room together, they just get them each a desk and a bookshelf for their own room so that they can study in their individual rooms by themselves? Ruby saying, "I'm a minimalist and so are the girls." Yeah... right. Two pre-teen girls want a whitewashed bare room with nothing in it but two beds and a weird table with a box thing on it? They are young girls - where's all the posters and color and pictures and cute decorations and inspirational sayings and sparkles and odd little knick knacks? Heck, I'm 22 and I have more color and cluster in my room than that.

How stupid I have been, just dawned on me today, the reason the kids' rooms are not furnished yet, is because Ruby is waiting to get stuff for free. She's learned well from Ellie and Bonnie.
I agree, how the heck are they getting sponsorships, ESPECIALLY MATTRESSES! Considering, they deprived their son of one for how many months?
Ruby, "I have a very minimal style, and the girls do too." No, Ruby, your girls are that way because they know it is what you expect from them. We have seen Julie wanting to hold on to a freakin folder, but you made her throw it out because it took up too much room.
I would be telling Ruby to get her dirty, greasy body off my sheets, so gross!

Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
This is completely unacceptable to me, it's making me absolutely rage inside.
This company must have NO IDEA about this family at all, the irony is incredible. I am furious she's gotten a sponsorship, I hope this video gets disliked into oblivion but the dislikes have slowed down so it won't. I will certainly be reaching out to this company to explain the situation to them, how this family and especially Ruby herself is an awful choice to promote their product, and that I and many others will undoubtedly never consider buying from this company because of this. I hope the company hears from a few people.
This woman gets to do no work at all and live in a fancy house full of free things because she exploits her children for profit. They don't need a bed for 8 months of living in that house until mommy gets a sponsorship. She probably considers it the kids' faults that she lost sponsorships for a few months so she didn't bat an eye at their punishment of having to wait for beds. Holy shit I am fuming.

Julie and Abby also really wanted a colorful wall, after Shari got one. But that obviously is a privilege for the golden child - excuse me, for the only child who agreed to do youtube (although admitting that she doesn't like it)Happy+Charlie wrote: ↑Thu Aug 27, 2020 9:59 am How stupid I have been, just dawned on me today, the reason the kids' rooms are not furnished yet, is because Ruby is waiting to get stuff for free. Minimalistic or not- no kid wants an EMPTY room. I feel bad for the girls. They seem genuinely excited about having nothing in their room, but hey at least Ruby can't go give away all their stuff if they don't have any.

Ruby will probably tell them if you don't do your chores then you will be sleeping on a beanbag. I think the kids are afraid to do anything as they might get in trouble for the stupidest things.dontwannah8 wrote:Minimalistic or not- no kid wants an EMPTY room. I feel bad for the girls. Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
It broke my heart when Julie went running to the few candy bars that Ruby threw on their table and was so excited, "Look! There's candy bars in here!" Aw, bless her heart, she's such a grateful kid. But, more importantly, notice how she gravitated towards the one sweet and colorful thing in the room and expressed her joy at getting candy bars. Yet, we're suppose to believe that a kid so excited over candy bars wants to live in a bare empty, dull room. Julie was also the one who so desperately wanted to hold onto a folder that Ruby threw out and who begged Ruby for a colored wall, but wasn't even invited to go buy the paint with them. I hope she goes to college and is one of those girls that puts LED lights and huge draperies and extravagant bed sets in her dorm room and puts all those little sticky notes and her name on the door and decorates it any way she wants.
Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
My family wasn't exactly poor growing up, but money was tight and a lot of penny pinching was in order. However, we always had beds, plenty to eat, adequate & clean clothing and a roof over our heads. We didn't have a lot of luxuries, but we had all the essentials. Kevin and Ruby can afford the essentials for all of their children, but they choose not to make certain their kids have them and instead take them away as a form of punishment.Gigi7 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 27, 2020 7:30 am As a child I never had to think as having a bed as a prize or gift.

I too wonder where Chad is sleeping because his mattress on the carpeted basement bedroom floor was ruined when the window well flooded. Poor guy is probably back to sleeping on the bean bag again. :/

Just finished watching a vlog from 2018 back to school shopping one, not only does ruby have the biggest cold sore on her cheek but she was saying how she washes her pants after wearing them 5-7 times the thought of putting on dirty clothes past the second or third day grosses me out

Welp, it looks as though E & J are doing a combo of homeschooling plus online classes from their kids' school. Hopefully Ellie will be better than Ruby.

You guys are forgetting these kids have no chance at homeschool as Ruby always put it it’ll be their own responsibility to be educated- not hers. poor kids.
Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
So, in the end, Julie won't be able to have her own room. Ruby won, as always.
When I was a child my parents took me and my brother to the shops and we chose the furniture for our rooms. They're teens and don't even get to choose their own bed. So sad.

Totally agree, Julie is the most creative and artistic of all the kids. There’s no way I believe Ruby when she says that Julie actually wanted such a plain, stark room like that.rulatows000 wrote:It broke my heart when Julie went running to the few candy bars that Ruby threw on their table and was so excited, "Look! There's no pictures even. My kids all have pictures of them when they were babies in their room. Plus sport team pictures. I just don't get it.

Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
If you remember that according to Ruby, the rooms belong to her and the kids are just guests, it makes perfect sense that their bedrooms look like empty hotel rooms. Guests don't add a personal touch to their guest room. They don't put up pictures. When they're forced to check out of RubyInn at 18, it needs to be as effort-free as possible for Ruby to convert the space for whatever pet project she's going to abandon next.
