My daughter is watching an old "Our Life in Holland" video, when they were in Miami.
They ordered $22 lobster rolls and were going on about how it's "part of the Miami experience". Ummm, Maine. Yeah, I know you can get spiny lobsters in Florida, but if I wanted a specific-to-Florida eating experience, I would go for stone crab.
And Lindsay was once again walking around with her mask under her nose, and they used the word "excited" at least 5 times in a minute and a half. I think all vloggers should be sent a dictionary with the words "literally" and "obsessed" highlighted, and a thesaurus. And Justin, (just in case you lurk here) it's not "Lindsay and I's favorite". There are times when it's appropriate to use me and my. This is one of them. Here's an easy way to tell: whenever you would use me or my without mentioning the other person, that's where you use it. When you would say I, use that. For instance you wouldn't say "me going to the pool". So you say "the kids and I are going to the pool". And you wouldn't say "this is I's favorite" (at least I hope not), so say "Lindsay's and my favorite". "I's" isn't even a word!
And they did a hotel room tour! Yay! I think whatever vlogger started that should be shamed. Most of the time, it's 2 beds, maybe a sitting area, and a bathroom. Oh, and as Katie from Bratayley always points out, a "selfie mirror". Maybe a suite at a posh hotel would be interesting, but 9 times out of 10, they are just boring hotel rooms.
Sorry again for a rant. I'm just having a really hard time with the rampant ignorance on YT. Is it just me or is it getting worse? For some reason, the more uneducated/ignorant people are, the more successful they seem to be on YT. Missy from Daily Bumps is incredibly ignorant and somehow they got 5 million subscribers. I just don't understand.

I can't believe that toddler baby is 5 and a half and still can't read or be even coherent enough to understand when Mindy spelled the word "shot".

Also I hate so much how they filmed her in pain during that procedure. She's just a child and deserves some privacy when she's afraid or hurting.

Double post, sorry. Are Landon and Ashton on the autism spectrum? The way they communicate like little old men makes me wonder. Also Landon stems a lot with his eye blinking and he seems to do it in reaction to his feelings. They've never mentioned it that I know of, and it could just be that he has motor delays that come from his other issues.

Is ASD even very supported or understood in the LDS community? I can't imagine that being wired different socially and not comprehending social cues goes over well.

I don't know if Landon or Ashton are on the spectrum, but there's a great deal of ignorance about it in the Mormon vlogger community. I don't know if it's all Mormons or just vloggers. The Butlers and the Griffiths in particular are incredibly ignorant about it. Someone asked Carlie Butler's son Elliott is on the spectrum, and her response was so ignorant. She basically said he couldn't be because he is really smart. She also said he is obsessed with some topic-- can't remember what it was. But her reasons why she said he absolutely isn't on the spectrum were actually characteristics of someone on the spectrum. Ruby said that her son Russell couldn't be on the spectrum because he was able to carry on a couple with some construction workers. No understanding at all of the autism spectrum, why it's called a spectrum, or anything like that. They think all people with any degree of autism are like Rain Man.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Binghams are equally stupid about it

What the!? Who puts raw potatoes in the fridge!?!?!? They belong in a bag in a dry, dark, cool area.

Just disgusting to read that. My husband is on the spectrum and believe me, I have had conversations with some pretty willfully stupid people. One person even told me it could be prayed away, like it's some sort of demon. And now that person is having their own child. Terrifying.

Anyhow, I digress.

I delved into a little sub-reddit on the matter last night because I was curious. Apparently most individuals with any disabilities or disorders don't last long in the church. Some had good experiences and said they were treated nicely by others, and some said it was a nightmare and depended on the group you were a part of or area you lived in. For the most part, when someone did not want to be touched (handshakes and hugs) it was absolutely not respected, you were treated like a puppy- i.e. people will talk to you in a baby voice. Imagine someone like Lyndsay talking to you like you're a moron for hours.

I also read that in their belief system, people with disabilities or who were not neurotypical were either considered to have been a bad spirit person before they inhabited that body -or- they were a really brave and strong one who wanted to be kick ass or something, idk. I don't knock others' beliefs, and I understand that some believe in reincarnation and karma and I'm not here to make fun of that. It just makes me feel bad for Landon though if that's what they really believe.

I know they've said that his particular issues are genetic and can be passed down by family members, so hopefully they don't teach him that it's some form of punishment because his non corporeal form watched too many R rated movies in heaven.

Just as an example of the ignorance among the vloggers about the autism spectrum, this is a screenshot of Carlie Butler's response to a question about her son.
Now, I know that there is a LOT of ignorance about the autism spectrum out there, and it certainly isn't limited to Mormon vloggers. But if one has a platform, and someone asks this kind of question, one would hope that the response wouldn't be just talking out of one's ass. She acted as though if her son was on the spectrum, he would have an intellectual disability. Which is not at all the case. Plenty of people on the autism spectrum are very intelligent. Image

"He is tender and so attentive to detail".

LMAO. Like that doesn't describe nearly every person on the spectrum that I know.

Poor kid.

Sometimes parents are in so much denial-especially when the child is higher functioning. A lot of people also see it as something to be embarrassed of their child about, sadly.

Also a bummer that his mom is shallow and overly focused on looks. And can't spell "literal" or use it correctly.
The shallow behavior and focus on looks does seem to be a Utah Mormon thing. Although they definitely don't have a monopoly on it!
To bring it back to the Binghams, I know I'm not the only one appalled by the blatant monetization of Hazy's wart? Is there nothing they won't cash in on? Actually, I think that if one of the kids turned out to have special needs, they wouldn't monetize that. Not out of any respect for the child's privacy, but out of a desperate need to appear "perfect".

Hazy is almost 6 and talks like a 3 year old! Mindy treats her like a baby, I know she had something on her foot, but you don't need to carry a 5 year old as often as she does...Is she going into first grade speaking and reading like that?
Also, Branden needs to stop trying to be like rad epic savage youtubers. First it was the Mr. Beast videos, now ZHC...what annoys me the most is that they are actually good people, always giving back, and Branden is using them for views and to compliment his bratty child.

I find gushing over isn't Hazy so adorable just for doing the simplest things at 5 really weird as well. My middle boy is 4 and I only gush if he says or does something cute not for simply tasks, he's suppose to do. Does she even do chores yet?

I think Hazy will have to marry someone rich so she can have hired help and just be 'beautiful' as her parents teach her that's all she to has to offer. Education isn't valued so she'd find it hard to make her own money and they aren't even teaching her the skills to be a SAHM like Mindy. I can't see this child making it in the real world if they carry on spoiling her rotten.

This is so true. They're teaching her that her role in life is purely decorative. And this is mean, but what is sad is that she isn't as adorable as they keep telling us (and her) she is. I'd never say she is ugly, or anything like that, but she's not a great beauty. And part of that is because they are always telling her how adorable she is, and allowing her to do what's she wants, basically turning her into a spoiled brat. Her personality is not attractive. You can see in family pictures when everyone else is smiling, and she has a sour face.
And I know it's mean. I just want to clarify that it's not Hazy's fault. Her parents are not teaching her how to be a decent human being.

I totally agree with you she’s not cute at all..I can’t stand when they Gush over when she does the things that she’s supposed to do like someone above said..and I don’t understand why they had to carry her everywhere after her foot thing either it’s a small procedure I’m sorry but that cry she was doing was so fake..I know it hurts but like someone also said she’s 5 almost 6 going on 3 the same with the Gardner quad squad I don’t understand anything they say at all when they talk especially indie and esme..but I guess it won’t change it seems for these/all you tubers especially the ones that live in Utah..school is not important not trying to be rude for the people in here that live in Utah but it’s ridiculous these Binghams are not teaching their kids anything..have a great Sunday everyone..

Mindy of course the company was not “super awesome” to return your rug. You can’t buy a rug , use it , and then expect the company to return it because you were too stupid and decided to put a rug over carpet with heavy furniture over it.

It is interesting to see the differences in how Ava and Hazyl are being raised. The Hollands trust that Ava can do things, so she does them. Chores, skiing, swimming or whatever. Hazyl is being raised to be a helpless decoration, coddled and spoiled. Honestly, Hazyl seemed to be at about the same developmental level as Gemma Chatwin. Is she had not been so much taller, I would have thought that they were the same age.
I wonder how this will all play out as they grow older. I won't be surprised if the day comes when Ava outgrows her cousin and moves on without her.

She’s an asshole. Why should they allow her to return a rug she’s walked all over? I’m sure they didn’t build their rugs with the intention of it being able to be used on top of carpet. Image Also, she’s a dipshit. Did she not learn from the last time!?

Also noticed Ava has a good relationship with her brothers and Hazy doesn't. Probably because Ava isn't given special treatment all the time and doesn't feel untitled to hit and snatch off them.

...I'm sorry but coffee creamer with milk???
No coffee, no wine, I would be so bored as an LDS person I wouldn't last

But seriously... WHAT IN THE WORLD? WHY? I could honestly see Mindy in the dairy aisle "oh my gosh you guys look at this awesome sugar creamer, but our religion doesn't allow caffeine so let's put it in milk....MILK

I know milk is debatable, it is unhealthy when consumed regularly but there are benefits to using it on occasion- but why ruin it with creamer? Not even a special treat, it was lunch time. This sounds like daily behavior the way it was so casually brought up.

No family eats perfectly, I love coffee creamer, but I've never ever had the thought of "oh if I mix this with milk the kids could drink it"

If her “religion” doesn’t allow caffeine then they need to stop all the sodas they drink and the chocolate they eat. They are such hypocrites it’s disgusting!
