It's possible, but I don't think all that likely just because she had at least a couple (don't remember how many for sure) ultrasounds early on. If she was that much further along it would have been pretty obvious with his size and development. I'm wondering if she has a ton of fluid or something that is causing her to measure ahead consistently.

That's what I was thinking too. She could very well be 37-40 weeks.

It would be very unlikely for the doctors to be that far off on her due date. They can tell on the early ultrasounds how far along you are. When Katie says that she is measuring ahead she is probably referring to her fundal height, which means that her belly is measuring bigger than normal. I believe she also measured ahead with Gaines, and I think Gaines was less than 6lbs when she was born at around 37 weeks.

ETA: Gaines was 5lbs 8oz when she was born. I went back and checked.

Is it possible the joint pain could be related to preeclampsia? I don't know a ton about this but a few weeks ago my mom had edema (swelling) from a medicine and when the swelling went down, all of her joints were so sore and painful. It makes me wonder if Katie may have experiences some swelling and not really noticed and then it went down and that is why she is experiencing the pain. And I looked up some of the symptoms and it does kind of seem to fit what she described. I'm sure they would have checked for it at the hospital though.

I hope baby brooks stays in there a little while longer. I hope this doesn't come off as rude but Katie really needs to slow down. Ellie even mentioned in her vlog before they left that there were many times she forgot that Katie was even pregnant. She could of meant she didn't complain or she could also have meant that Katie kept up with them, staying up late and whatnot. And even after vacation she didn't want to stop. Maybe her body is also telling her to slow down just a tad. I just hope brooks doesn't come early

And Magnesium sulfate is one of the treatments for pre-eclampsia. I'm glad she's measuring bigger. The bigger Brooks is, the better chance he has. And if she's farther along than she thinks, his lungs will be more developed. In any case, I hope they can stop the contractions. And I hope they're all ok!

This must be so scary. I hope they are able to stop contractions.
I really doubt that they are off by 5-7 weeks. Development in that long period is so different, they would have been able to tell much earlier.

I thought maybe they were off by 2-3 weeks. She was measuring 5 weeks ahead at one point, isn't that a bit much?? I hope she and the baby are okay. I thought it was weird that they wouldn't call the doctor when she was contracting the other day. Then I saw his tweets about how she wasn't able to do anything yesterday and thought that was weird too. I'm glad they went in. I'd be afraid of her giving birth at home.

NCSUchick27 wrote:Cullen tweeted that they have been at the hospital since 4:30 this morning. Katie is having contractions 2-4 minutes apart and she is 2cm dilated. She is only 32w6d (almost 33w) so they are hoping the doctors can stop the contractions.

If Brooks were born right now he would most likely be ok, but he would have to stay in the NICU for several weeks. If they are able to stop the contractions Katie will probably be put on bed rest. Hopefully he will stay put for a few more weeks.

I was surprised they didn't call the doctor the other day when she was having painful contractions that were 4 mins apart. I would have especially since her labor progressed so quickly with Gaines, and she is only 32 weeks.
The pains she described in today's vlog were especially unnerving in light of her preterm labor pains yesterday. We know she is not one to complain or exaggerate. When it's time to go to the hospital, it is time to go whether you're packed or not. Is terbutaline still prescribed to stop labor? Is it possible that she was given an erroneous due date? Katie looks full term to me. I don't doubt that Brooks will be okay whether he has to stay in NICU or not, but I do hope Katie is feeling better. Can someone please keep those of us without twitter, insta, etc posted of any new developments?

No updates :( I really hope everything is ok. I wonder if she had to deliver, since Cullen said the contractions weren't stopping even with all the meds.

I think they're just tired and that's why haven't updated. I wouldn't assume the baby is here unless they don't update for a few days.

Really guys pregnant women aren't breakable. I worked and carried around heavy boxes until days before I delivered both my boys. If you are used to doing something there is no reason to stop unless you have complications.

Agreed, unless a doctor specifically tells you no, then they tell you to keep doing your daily activities. One time I witnessed a woman 7/8 months pregnant who finished the Boston marathon.

For those who don't have Twitter/aren't checking, Katie just posted that contractions have stopped and she's still being monitored.
