Steps to Wander: Natural Disaster
Re: Steps to Wander: Natural Disaster
These two! It's been one day and they're acting like they're at wits end. Get a grip you two. Welcome to real life! They're both so whiney it's absurd.
Why are both missy and Kelsey's mom there? Seems like it would have been better to have had them come separate and be of more help.
Wow their place is so small! Can really tell with four people in there.
Hahaha laughing about the car situation. What idiots.
I have to agree that I'm not sure how long I can watch them with this naturopathic dr business. Kelsey whines about breastfeeding. Yes it is hard whoever said it was easy at the start wasn't telling the whole story.
Bets anyone on how long she last?

Usually people will have a little sleeper attached to the bed for the baby to sleep in...I don't have kids yet, but I'm pretty sure I (personally) wouldn't have them in the bed as a newborn out of fear of rolling onto them! Not to mention all the pillows and blankets on an adult's bed....I'm sure they think it's the best and anyone who says otherwise is wrong loltgo93 wrote:I might be wrong but isn't bed sharing pretty heavily discouraged for newborn babies due to increased risk of SIDs? While June is kinda cute I just don't think I will be able to put up with watching them with things like going to a naturopathic doctor. I have enough trouble holding my tongue with parents of kids in my class who don't get their kids vaccinated (and that is only cause I don't want to lose my job!) so I don't think I will be able to handle their way of doing things...

Has she started getting pain from breastfeeding? If not, imagine the complaining then!janem wrote:These two! It's been one day and they're acting like they're at wits end. Get a grip you two. Welcome to real life! They're both so whiney it's absurd.

Yes, she said it was hurting. Duh!tintin15 wrote:Has she started getting pain from breastfeeding? If not, imagine the complaining then!janem wrote:These two! It's been one day and they're acting like they're at wits end. Get a grip you two. Welcome to real life! They're both so whiney it's absurd.

I'm glad she's going to a lactation consultant. Breastfeeding can be hard, and I would seriously side eye her pulling that "My body knows what to do" crap. Is their naturopathic doctor an actual MD? I sure hope so! I get that alternative medicine has a place, but babies need real MD's sometimes.

Re: Steps to Wander: Natural Disaster
There are ways to co-sleep safely. It's all based on preference I guess. With my first I was terrified to co-sleep with him.
With my second I was way more comfortable co-sleeping.
For the first two weeks he slept on my chest. It was a site to see.
I propped myself up at an angle with pillows behind my back, under my arms, and around my legs. I was in a position where he wouldn't roll and neither would I. As a matter of fact I couldn't move at all. It's not for everyone.
After the first two weeks he would sleep in his bedside co-sleeper.
My husband went back to work two days after I had our son... I wish I had someone to do everything for me I say use the help while you have them!

I never had help with my babies and never complained like these two. I couldn't even bear to watch the whole video with all the whining and complaining. She is only 2 days old. You haven't seen nothing yet! Try having a newborn with colic and a wild 2 year old that you have to chase and your husband at work. One kid is easy especially a newborn.

I'm pretty sure they went with an ND. They totally gave up the address when they filmed outside her office.lmmomSD wrote:I'm glad she's going to a lactation consultant. Re: Steps to Wander: Natural Disaster
One thing I noticed in the vlog was that they layed June down on her back in the bed with no swaddle or anything. Most babies like to be swaddled and will wake up every 5 minutes like that due to their startle reflex. I wonder if they have tried tightly swaddling her or maybe that is too unnatural for them. Lol

Re: Steps to Wander: Natural Disaster
They probably read some article somewhere that said swaddling is bad.

Re: Steps to Wander: Natural Disaster
That's probably true, you can find an article that says anything is bad though. If k&c are so desperate for sleep they should try swaddling before co-sleeping.lmmomSD wrote:They probably read some article somewhere that said swaddling is bad.

Corbin's haircut looks like when you pull hair out of a drain and he just plopped it on top of his head.
Re: Steps to Wander: Natural Disaster
Oh this is just the beginning. They haven't even got to any of the hard part yet.
Yes Kelsey should be resting to recover from birth, but that doesn't mean she's incapable of doing anything. And Corbin should definitely be able to cook and run errands there is no reason why he needs to be waited on

Re: Steps to Wander: Natural Disaster
I noticed about the swaddling too. And if she likes to be skin to skin and held, they should bust out those baby carrying wraps Missy gave them!

Re: Steps to Wander: Natural Disaster
Did he seriously acknowledge that she had a soiled diaper and then WALK AWAY TO VLOG. Kelsey's mom took June out of the car seat and had to TELL THEM to change her?! Then her mom changed the blow out?! Perhaps it wasn't a blow out, but rather a mess from not being changed!!
Wow. Just wow.

Why do they have everyone else change all the diapers?! She's YOUR baby!

And the way he was reacting to the smell. I don't remember babies that small making super stinky poop. How is he going to react when she starts eating solids?Snow White wrote:Did he seriously acknowledge that she had a soiled diaper and then WALK AWAY TO VLOG. Re: Steps to Wander: Natural Disaster
I'd imagine so, they're advising against swaddling over here now because of the increased risk of SIDS.
