Re: BritneyandFailedGrammar: Part 13
In regards to her latest IG post.. I wonder if aria goes to a church preschool? Just curious because the teachers used a manger scene in the ornament they made for Aria.. I'm religious & would definitely appreciate the ornament. But it seems like a bold move for teachers to assume all kids in their class are religious.

It's interesting because Britney has never mentioned their religion or anything, not that she needed to.

The majority of private preschools in the US are run by religious organizations. And most of them accept children of any faith or of no faith. So there are tons of preschoolers who have no religious practices at home but attend a religious preschool.

Re: BritneyandFailedGrammar: Part 13
Our Daughters preschool is teaching them the "Story of Christmas". She's been running around the house singing "I love Jesus" and other religious type songs. I'm not religious, but it doesn't bother me in the least. My wife is Christian and so are my parents so they think it's super cute. It's a private school, so the teacher can teach what ever syllabus she choose.

Re: BritneyandFailedGrammar: Part 13
If she goes to public school they cannot discuss religion though but I believe they can if it's in a lesson (correct me if I'm wrong. my kid is only in kindergarten). When the holidays come around they have to discuss all the holidays people participate in.
Re: BritneyandFailedGrammar: Part 13
I believe public schools can only teach religion in terms of world history since so many world events up to the "discovery" of America were caused by religious strife.zipadeedodah wrote:If she goes to public school they cannot discuss religion though but I believe they can if it's in a lesson (correct me if I'm wrong. my kid is only in kindergarten). I have very clear memories of my Freshman World History teacher going on an anti-Muslim rant while we were learning about the Middle East and then treating Hinduism as a joke in another lecture. Ugh, such a horrible teacher.

I think you have a choice to learn it at school if you go to public. Most private schools where I am are religious based so its compulsory.
Personal- When I was in primary school we were given a note/permission slip that basically read if you are interested in your child learning about religion, sign and give it to the teacher. I did it maybe for two years and I would be taken out of class for an hour to learn about the Catholic Faith by a lady from the church. I lost interest pretty fast as while my mum did the whole shebang in her youth ( church on Sunday, communion, religious studies) we never did. She still regrets not taking me to do my communion. But that's what happens when you marry an Atheist.

In the name of the moon, I shall gossip about you.

Re: BritneyandFailedGrammar: Part 13
^^^^^^In US public schools there is absolutely no option to take religious education during your school day. It is a fundamental violation of the separation of church and state. However, public school students, if they are so inclined, can form afterschool clubs that have a religious focus. Our public high school has a Muslim club, a Christian athletes club, a Jewish activites club, etc. Students may speak freely about their faith to fellow students and teachers as long as they are not interfering with the educational mission of the school. Teachers may not teach a specific faith but they can offer lessons on the variety of faiths in the world. They can make reference to a specific faith if it is relevant to the curriculum (e.g. history lesson or a literature lesson) If parents want religious education for their children as part of their daily education, they can homeschool or enroll the kid in a private school.

Re: BritneyandFailedGrammar: Part 13
Personal story, just had to share. We are Christian and celebrate the birth of Jesus and even buy a birthday cake for Jesus (for my young nephews) at Christmas. Some people might think that is a bit whacky but whatever. Our son is 3 and it's the first year he understands what Christmas is about. We have been teaching him xmas is not only about presents and we are reading a book every day at bedtime about jesus' birth etc... Tonight my son was running around the house yelling enthusiastically "Christmas is coming! Jesus born! I love jesus!". So of course my heart melted. That is, until the next sentence where he continued yelling "Jesus will come down chimney and bring TOYS! TOYS! TOYS!" We need to work on this a bit. LOL

Is she really surprised when Nolan is standing on the chair and then she goes to explain she was "jumping" on the couch and hurt her foot a minute later? REALLY? Seriously? Ugh.

Re: BritneyandFailedGrammar: Part 13
Sorry if this has already been answered before but I don't post a lot in here.
Is Nolan still not in his crib? I know he was sleeping in their bed, but I remember her fixing up his room when they first moved in. Did he ever end up sleeping in his crib finally? I have a daughter who is a month younger than Nolan. She was in our bed until about 8 months because it was easier to nurse to be honest. Once she started really crawling good I was worried about her falling off the bed. ..we had to move her to her crib at that point.

Re: BritneyandFailedGrammar: Part 13
But schools can teach religion as an academic subject, such as a World Religions course, as long as the school is not advocating for the principles of the religion and teaching about the religious texts just like they'd teach books in a literature class.olemama wrote:^^^^^^In US public schools there is absolutely no option to take religious education during your school day. ^^^^^Yeah, I said that. ("they can offer lessons on the variety of faiths in the world") This class cannot be a requirement to graduate from a public school. It can be offered as an elective. But many public schools do not offer this sort of elective.

Re: BritneyandFailedGrammar: Part 13
Does Britney use a baby monitor? I only have one daughter and she never slept in her crib. It was always really easy for me to make sure she was safe since I would spend her nap time doing homework in the same room while she slept. She's 2 now and I don't worry about falling her off the bed anymore but I still keep a monitor set up just in case. She would be in a normal bed at this point anyway if she didn't still co-sleep with us.
