If Brooks were born right now he would most likely be ok, but he would have to stay in the NICU for several weeks. If they are able to stop the contractions Katie will probably be put on bed rest. Hopefully he will stay put for a few more weeks.
I was surprised they didn't call the doctor the other day when she was having painful contractions that were 4 mins apart. I would have especially since her labor progressed so quickly with Gaines, and she is only 32 weeks.
The pains she described in today's vlog were especially unnerving in light of her preterm labor pains yesterday. We know she is not one to complain or exaggerate. When it's time to go to the hospital, it is time to go whether you're packed or not. Is terbutaline still prescribed to stop labor? Is it possible that she was given an erroneous due date? Katie looks full term to me. I don't doubt that Brooks will be okay whether he has to stay in NICU or not, but I do hope Katie is feeling better. Can someone please keep those of us without twitter, insta, etc posted of any new developments?
Just fyi, I don't have an instagram or twitter but you can google and view their's since they aren't set to private.
Thanks, I've got them on my ipad and pleased to just learn from her dad's insta that contractions have stopped for now. I just didn't want to have to keep checking. The picture of Gaines has me smiling and optomistic!
I hope baby brooks stays in as long as possible. Luckily they've gone in and been given the steroids for his lungs, those steroids are amazing. My daughter was born at 33 weeks, she was given the steroids and she came out breathing like a champ, no oxygen needed. She was in NICU for 10 days. We were lucky with her that it wasn't much longer because you are told to expect your baby to be in hospital until around they're due date, but it was still the worst time ever.
To be fair, Ellie is usually quiet when friends are going through things too. It's just this one instance where she actually posted words of support. Usually Jared speaks for both of them. Bryan speaks for Missy a lot too, I have seen her mention current events, or show support for other YTers before.
Not saying Missy isn't all about herself (because she is!) just that she isn't inferior to Ellie by any means. Both are equally as shallow IMO.
And I totally agree the pic Ellie posted was weird. My guess is that she had it set aside for a Father's Day tweet, and just chose to use it because it was there? But I was surprised it didn't include her or Calvin as well
Yeah, that picture was just weird. If I was going to post something, it would have Katie in it, not be _my_ husband, Cullen, and their friend in a pool eating pizza. But Ellie is an odd duck by any measurement. Glad the contractions have stopped!
So glad the contractions have stopped! A friend of mine had this happen to her around this time last year, but she was pregnant with twins. She was only 26 weeks along when it happened and she was able to carry them until she was 38 weeks! Hoping the same happens for Katie.
I am so glad they were able to stop her contractions. Hopefully taking it easy will keep Katie from going into preterm labor again. Brooks just needs to keep baking for a few more weeks.
Hopefully we see her not doing much and just lazing around on the new comfy couch they have. (I rather see her be lazy over Missy any day, she does more in the run of a day than the DB's).
Really glad brooks is going to cook a little longer. Agreed with whomever said that regular activity is fine to do up until birth. However, that vaycay and poor Gaines falling ill are not the norm. Who knows how many night they stayed up late talking and then when Ellie and Jared had a tough night with the boys, Katie mentioned it. so who knows if after her trip to the bathroom at night they kept her up. Plus the drive there without her being able to put her feet up and dealing with a sick toddler. Her body has gone through a lot. And she was helping paint and taking Gaines to music and gymnastics! She really just needs to slow down
And that is how you talk about your wife (pregnant or not) laying naked in the bathtub. He didn't go all "cutie with a booty" or whatever Bieber phrase Bryan would have picked and made it gross.
Not sure what it means, but Bryan and Ellie used the same picture when they tweeted/Instagramed their prayers to Cullen and Katie.
I know-- it's a weird picture to use anyway, and then for _both_ of them to use it? They were together for a week. They didn't have any pictures of Cullen and Katie to use?
It is perfectly normal and healthy to keep up with routine while pregnant. BUT when your body says you need to slow down, you need to slow down. If I'm remembering correctly, she had been contracting and then as soon as she felt moderately better she went to work on the nursery. I do love that she isn't lazy, or afraid of working. Just hope she takes it easy as much as she can!
I thought she should've gone to the hospital the first day she can contractions. Those Southern women really are polite, not wanting to disturb or impose in any way. My goodness! I cried during the vlog, so much drama just in the parking structure, smh. I would hope they keep her in the hospital for at least several days as the doctor said. Cullen can pack Katie's bag, he just needs a list. It seems to me that a vbac might be too much stress on a premie. I don't understand why so many women want one. Once you've had a c-section your stomach muscles are shot, may as well have another one. Katie already knows what it is to dialate to a full 10 with Gaines. I don't see the attraction of putting a baby though that small part of one's anatomy unless you don't have a choice. That is how I feel. I respect that others feel differently.
And truthfully, you don't need _that_ much in your bag anyway. It's the hospital, not a red carpet premiere. These vlogger moms crack me up with their "packing for the hospital" vlogs. Even Jennika said she was packing a LOT less in her bag the second time. Toothbrush, hairbrush, baby going home clothes-- you don't need a lot. So yeah, Cullen can throw some things in an overnight bag for her. Brooks and Katie are what's important, not making sure she has the right eye shadow packed.
I know I'm probably the only person who feels this way, but I was kinda put off by them posing for the Instagram pic. It's something that should be simple and seemingly candid, but there's a bit of production that goes into it. Instead of snapping a pic, Cullen has to make sure the lighting is right and find a good angle. They make sure Katie's belly is exposed and Cullen's hand is placed in a good spot. I understand that they're social media personalities and this is work for them. I guess it's just odd to see them go into work mode for the picture. It's kinda sad given the situation. Work would be the last thing on my mind if I were in the hospital in danger of delivering my baby prematurely.

I imagine so.. I wonder if they've allowed her to get up and move around to see what will happen? I wonder when she's back home will they have Gaines come home right away?

In their defense, who doesn't make sure the angle and lighting is good when they make a selfie? They were using the photo as a way to update everyone. I guess i kinda see what you mean, but i don't see how its any different than anyone posting a photo. Plus, it was done during a lull in the activity they had going on, they were sitting around bored at that point. It's not like he did all that posing and lighting while the Dr was in talking to them or while Katie was having a procedure done. I'm glad they took the photo to update everyone with what was going on. It doesn't in any way make me think that they are any less concerned about their unborn child , bc they posed for a picture.
