They said Jenn (Jared’s sister) was finding out the gender of her baby on Wednesday (yesterday). I hope it’s a girl!! More proof Ellie reads here - they specifically brought up that everyone else around them is having girls so far and Ellie tried to make it sound like it’s so awesome that she’s having the only boy and her boy will look so cute in all the pictures being the only boy, etc. I’m sure she is excited because she wanted another baby — but I do not believe for a second that she isn’t upset or jealous about everyone else having girls but not her when it’s always been very obvious that’s what she wanted, expected, and assumed she would have.

no no you see sure maybe she wanted a girl but now that everyone else is having a girl and shes having a boy SHE will stand out in pictures and get loads of attention. There will be everyone elses girl and Ellies boy. This now makes Ellie more of a centre of attention. Everybody else will get relatively the same gifts but Ellie gets different ones cause shes the only one having a boy and that makes her even more special.

There’s her upside to being the only one having a boy. Such an attention whore. Your exact thoughts also went through my mind as I was writing that. I’m still glad she isn’t having a girl though.

It looks like Jared’s sister, Jen, is having a girl - according to Matt & Em’s vlog. I agree that now Ellie will latch onto her baby being the only boy. She has to find the spotlight in any way she can. This should be interesting!

I was going to post this and say the same thing and also roll my eyes at the poorly worded “what my body and just mentally have gone through.” Would it have been so hard to just say “what my body and mind have gone through”? It kind of scares me how uneducated she is. It seems to only be Griffiths as well.. other Utah Mormon vloggers (that I’ve noticed) don’t speak as poorly as they do.

As imperfect as E&J are as parents, I really like the way they celebrate their kids' birthdays. A nice themed cake, a handful of fun gifts, small family gathering. It's just astonishing when you compare Ollie's 4th birthday with Jackson's 4th birthday. And to be perfectly honest, Jackson seemed 100 x's happier than Ollie did with his OTT pirate extravaganza.

WHAT IS WITH Ellie being so obsessed with her old toys? When Jackson opened the new Hot Wheels cars, I thought to myself "I'm surprised that Ellie didn't give him her old ones" and lo and behold she had to mention it.

She is SO obsessed with herself.

I get wanting your kids to be good at sharing, but how hard is it to let Jackson open his own gifts and play with his own toys first, before everyone else gets to do it?? No Ellie, all of the boys do not need to help him. They need to be taught that it’s Jackson’s birthday and not theirs.

They need to keep Calvin in check too. There were a couple times when I caught Jackson giving him a look or just generally looking down because Calvin was either playing with his toys or getting more attention than he was. It was most noticeable when they were lighting the candles on the cake. We get it, Calvin did something “cute” the other day, now let’s focus on the birthday boy!

Jackson is absolutely adorable! He is always genuinely excited about his gifts and his surprise thing is so darn cute. They really lucked out with him. I sort of like their birthdays as well, at least compared to Ollie's over the top extravaganza. The middle of the weekday birthdays have always been annoying because no one can come, but maybe that will improve when they start actual school.

Ugh and I was just like, can't someone hold Calvin for 2 minutes so Jackson can have his moment with the cake?! I was actually shocked he didn't swoop in there and blow all the candles out. It cracks me up that Lincoln and Cal hardly ever get any screen time together. God forbid viewers realize just how poor his speech is. All I heard from him today were sounds and pointing. The poor kid understands but cannot communicate back.

I didn't like Ellie's share comments either. Let Jackson open his presents! The other kids should be taught to wait. And everyone rushed the big toy while he was trying to be all surprised...they cut the actual moment where he opened his eyes, probably because he couldn't even see the toy in that second with all the other kids all over it. I know it's nitpick but Jackson got the short end of the stick so many times, I just want to see him completely celebrated and getting all the special moments he can on his birthday.

Ok you guys maybe this is nit picking but i have to wonder if anyone else thinks the same way i do. Jennifer got Jackson 3 or 4 plastic dino toys for his birthday, to me, they didn't look any different than the $1 ones at dollar tree, and i was like wow.. thats it? less than $5 worth of dinosaurs? Not that its not ok to get the kids something like that, but i would have assumed they would be in a place where they could afford to buy Jackson a more expensive gift than that (not that price matters really.. i hope i dont sound like a snob writing this out.. lol) Then i overheard Jared say "Oh they are Schleich!" and i got curious.. those dinos are anywhere from $10-25 each (the trex specifically is about $25 +). Now i see where ellie gets it. Top of the line EVERYTHING, even plastic dinos that will probably be lost in 6 months. I do get the idea of buying quality items, they last longer and are normally better quality than cheap dollar store versions.. but plastic dinos?? Really?? That was probably close to a $50 gift. I just wonder if its just me or if that seems excessive for a couple dino toys. I mean $50 could have gotten him a super cool spiderman lego set or even something like a new scooter or a MILLION other things. They all spend their money in odd ways, to me anyway.

My aunt buys those Schleich dinos for my kid whenever she’s in town and although they are more detailed than the cheaper dinos, I wouldn’t really say they are all that much better. Jackson would probably have preferred a “bucketful of dinosaurs” more than a few detailed ones.

Jared commenting on it like it’s something he knows about though makes me suspicious about it being product placement. Seems weird to call them out by name like that, even if you do know that they are more expensive.

They have shared many times stories about their high school years when they would just leave and go to lunch and ditch classes. So probably the fact that Ellie is just dumb, plus probably didn’t do any work, AND skipped school all the time really added up. Such a shame, in my opinion.

Did anyone else think the dinosaurs were an odd gift anyway, regardless of their cost? Jackson does not seem to even like dinosaurs, at least to me. We have never seen him playing with any.
Most grandparents like to buy gifts for their grandchildren that they show interest in.

Really irritated me how everybody else got to see and play with Jacksons hot wheel track before Jackson did. Why didnt they build it the night before so he could see it in the morning when he woke up. Why did he have to wait for his cousins?

The marble run is pretty much the exact same concept as the track and he could've used the track as a marble run. The run wont last long anyway he cant take it apart and build it so whats the point? Its a dust collector.

Calvin pointing all the time is not really cute either I believe its his way to compensate on his lack of verbal communication.

I thought the dinos were super cool. Very realistic and I would totally use them as a display thing too or make a little garden for them outside in his hut thing
