Why do other people have to fund her lifestyle?

Even if she gets 2,000 people SAYING they will pay. Only about 1,000 actually will. Even if she only charges $2, that’s $2k a month !!! After paying to commute and childcare I only bring home that much, plus she is getting all her support from Dan. Give me a break, Elle!

I think even the die yards will slowly unsubscribe from the pay channel when they notice how bad the content is.

I think most youtubers must know as well that they're only going to get a small portion of who actually says they will do it. It's not many... because when it comes to actually entering the credit card, that's when people hesitate. I love how blunt the comment section is!

I definitely think this decision was solely because she didn't want to spill the beans with her divorce publicly in YouTube. Elle is definitely scared of revealing details about it. I think she only feels comfortable opening up to the ones that suck up to because they will give her sympathy that she craves and does not deserve.

Honestly, I think I will have to subscribe just to see what the divorce details are and quit from there. You know she based this paywall decision on fear when she did not even think that "Karens" are willing to pay for her vlog content. I might be that Karen for more than 1 month but there will always be more than another one to replace me. She just knows in her heart there will be backlash based on what she revealed about her marriage in the past.

I agree. She is completely thick if she thinks the Karen’s won’t fork out the cost of a Starbucks coffee to see her BS. I honestly think this decision was made hoping that she could scrape a couple thousand dollars a month to fund her shopping addiction more than it was made to keep Karen’s away.

Her subscribers know this as well, and they are calling her out on it. I also think it was a bit stupid to say she needs the money BEFORE telling everyone about the divorce. If she would have announced the divorce and then made this video, people would be more understanding, because then she could say “it’s YouTube or a traditional career” and it people would get it. At this point people think her husband is a vet and youtube is her hobby. They think she’s trying to catch a solid paycheque from her hobby to fund more LV bags. This is why honesty is always the best policy Elle.

She's a toddler throwing a tantrum on Instagram right now. Look at her stories. Messages from people claiming she got them through the darkest times in their life and she's the reason they are successful in life. And THIS IS WHAT OUR COMMUNITY IS ABOUT!

No it's not!

You have 3 or 4 messages from people saying they'd follow you anywhere. That does not a community make. The people who are willing to comment publicly are the ones you need to be listening to. There are a couple of commenters making really true and valid points. I whole heartedly agree with them. If she would listen to the people genuinely trying to help her then her channel would flourish but the fact is that she is not willing to put in the work and consistency to actually make something of it.

There is no get rich scheme that will pan out long term. She'll add a paywall, put up her divorce video, it'll tank and it will be free again. After the novelty wears off no one is going to keep paying.

If it was about growth she would listen to her criticisms and fucking grow from them. Clearly it isn’t about growth, it’s about validation.

I’m living for this. One of the comments Margie shared was actually from me, hope I’m not breaking any rules by saying this. I genuinely tried to like her for a long time because I thought that out of most youtubers she was decent, but proved months ago that she isn’t. Shekeeps on insisting of 4 monthly videos that will be free and igtv, honestly who cares. I will even stop hate watching and just come here for the tea! I don’t think most people care whatever she puts that is paid other than her stupid divorce video that any of us can pay to watch and then unsubscribe, who could care about a random family so much to give them money? She is requesting more than my Spotify plan which includes 3 people and brings me way more joy that those natural, oil, crap cleaning videos she does. Yes Elle, if I was the wife of a vet and had nothing to do all day but take care of my children (honestly Brighton only cause the other two are raising themselves) I would probably have time to clean my freaking house and change the wallpaper of my laundry room and then put it on YouTube.

I went from disliking her to just not being able to stand her face.

I just had to lol at the “vidrios” typo because that means glass in Spanish and it’s basically what she is doing, charging people for pieces of a broken glass, who wants that

Margie, thanks for posting all those comments.

I really feel like this is going to be a gigantic flop. I also don't understand how Elle is saying she'll lose money. If she truly believes that, why is she doing this? It's apparent from her videos that all she wants is attention and money, so she is going to give that up "for the good of the community," which makes no sense whatsoever? I know most YouTubers are in it for the money and fame, but many of them can still produce fun videos. Elle oozes desperation in all her videos and you can tell she's trying so hard and is dying for approval, making her videos way less enjoyable to watch.

I predict she will get very few subscribers in the beginning, after a month or two the membership will drop off even more, Elle will make a video or several saying how unfair it is that she pours her soul into her content to get such a low response, and then she will cancel the whole membership content.

If people are already making comments like the ones Margie posted, you know this isn't going to work out well.

Kara and Nate, whose vlog content is 1000x better than Elle's, tried to put just one video behind a paywall and got such backlash within hours that they refunded everyone who had paid their money, put the video on YouTube for free, and made a huge apology video about it. If they can't even get away with it, and they are more successful than Elle can ever hope to be, why does Elle think she will have so many people be okay paying for her content?

Wow. This whole "minimal minded" and "intentional living" thing she's been pushing for a year is coming back to bite her in the ass. Go look at the recent comments on yesterday's YouTube video. A lot of people backtracking, saying they slept on it and while they can afford a couple dollars a month they just can't justify spending it on her crappy content. Maybe she's a lot more influential than we thought? The whole "why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free" analogy comes to mind. I'm living for this. I bet there's no video tomorrow as she will spend all day today sulking and wondering where her real friends are. I'd hate to be in that house today. She's probably an outright git to be around right now. Hopefully its Dan's day with the kids. They shouldn't have to suffer just because their mother screwed up.
