No it's not. Most people need to use a car to get by in their daily life. You don't need a gun, you just think you do.PolkaDotPenguin wrote:Im not getting into the gun thing because I use my right to carry. I have my concealed carry license and carry it on my 24/7. They are such idiots. Babies NEED sleep on a regular basis throughout the day. One nap is NOT sufficient. Emilia should be napping around three or four times a day. I don't know of any baby that can get by with just one nap per day. It's ridiculous that they would be interrupting Emilia's sleep just so she can be "on schedule." If she's tired, then let her sleep!! A&J, we know what we're talking about! A lot of us on GG are moms and even those who aren't have common sense enough to know that babies need lots of sleep! It's just part of being a baby. Please, let Emilia nap when she's tired. Babies need a lot of sleep to grow into healthy adults.beautyish2 wrote:Suntropics wrote:LMAO at jofus claiming he's lost weight so now his ring doesn't fit. Poor Emilia, sleeping in the swing and he wakes her up saying that she cannot go to sleep because it's not in the scehdule yet. She always looks so tired. He wakes her up daily when she's sleeping. Poor kid barely gets any sleep and when she does it's broken by her numbskull parents!
I cant believe they are doing this. She needs her sleep to grow. They are so selfish

'Is that vodka?' Margarita asked weakly. The cat jumped up from its chair in indignation. 'Excuse me, your majesty,' he squeaked, 'do you think I would give vodka to a lady? That is pure spirit!'

Not trying to start a fight but owning a gun is a constitutional right, just like free speech is in America. I completely agree that something has to be done so tragedies like this never happen again - but at the same token, crazy and evil will ALWAYS find a way. Take a look at what happened in China today as well, 22 schoolchildren were stabbed by a crazy man at their school. Guns aren't legal there, and he still found a way to act on his madness and harm innocent people.
Sadly, there is no easy or perfect solution.

if they were illegal we could have stings on people selling them the way they do with drugs now so the police can arrest those selling them, but not making it illegal we can't do anything.sand and water wrote:I completely understand what you're saying. Maybe there should be something with automatic assault weapons; however, taking guns away from the homes of capable people who are protecting their families is wrong. Yes our government can put a ban on automatic assault weapons, but that isn't going to stop a criminal from getting their hands on one. For example, the shooting a mall in Oregon was done by a person with a stolen gun. If a criminal wants to get their hands on a gun, they will. It's scary but it's just a fact. That is why we decided to protect our home the way we have.geeklove wrote:What person needs an automatic assault riffle though? that's over the top and I don't think normal people protecting themselves need that. That's something you get for a mass murder.sand and water wrote:You guys may disagree with me, but I am against gun control. The only thing gun control does, is take guns away from capable people who want to protect their families and homes. If a criminal wants to get a hold of a gun, they will, regardless of a ban. Drugs are illegal, yet it is easily accessible. That is why there are background checks. What happened today just makes me want to get a concealed weapons permit. Sorry but when it comes to my family, I won't stop at anything to protect them.

I don't want to get into it, but just my two cents re the American shooting and rights to bear arms, because this tragedy has really shaken me. I am Australian and there are very, very strict gun laws here. We do not have guns to protect ourselves. We also do not have anywhere at all close to near as many shootings to what they do in the USA. Shootings here are very, very rare. To me it seems to go hand in hand that if I were American and gave up my right to carry a gun if it meant that it could potentially save lives in the future, it would be a no brainer. As an outsider looking in, I can absolutely not get my head around the belief that having easy access to purchase and carry a gun is a good thing, particularly when these heartbreaking massacres seem to be taking place every few months. What will it take for the gun culture in America to be reevaluated? Innocent children are dead in a country where gun ownership rights are more important than public safety and the general greater good. An obsession with killing as the sick, sadistic people who carry out these crimes have, can only go so far if you do not have access to your own personal gun. Mass murders happen with guns, and the obsession becomes a reality when they are readily available. I do not understand the idea that possessing a gun and hundreds of ammunition protects you? Protects from what? What do you expect to happen when some one goes off track? Just a few days ago there was a US news item regarding an attempt to pass laws allowing people to carry guns to their workplace in some of the states. It is a totally different frame of mind to what I have grown up with, and it is very easy for us non-Americans to criticise, but also, I really do feel that something must be done to protect future generations from such devastating consequences these mass shootings have.

Motherhood is not a hobby, it is a calling. You do not collect children because you find them cuter than stamps. It is not something you do if you can squeeze the time in. It is what God gave you time for." ~ Elder Neal Anderson.

I just can't get my head around this whole "I'm entitled to carry a gun" thing. In my opinion you cannot "earn the right" to carry a gun, i.e. kill someone, unless you are part of the army, police, or security maybe, and these people are trained and monitored throughout. The idea of "competent", "responsible" people owning guns to "protect" their families seems outrageous to me. You just don't take the law into your own hands and you don't want to become a murderer, that would be the worst thing ever. Sure, Europe doesn't compare well to the U.S. but Australia does. It's a question of mentality, and that can be changed! So there is hope.

The constitution is hundreds of years old, it might be time for a change in order to make the country a safer place. We have referendums every few years to change parts of our constitution because society evolves.BlueEyedBelle wrote:Not trying to start a fight but owning a gun is a constitutional right, just like free speech is in America.
Freedom of speech is completely different to owning weapons and most western countries have it but don't flaunt it.
It's frustrating when every few months there are shooting sprees and people say how awful it is but don't want to change gun laws.BlueEyedBelle wrote:I completely agree that something has to be done so tragedies like this never happen again - but at the same token, crazy and evil will ALWAYS find a way.
The difference in a knife and a gun is you can inflict a lot more damage with a gun in a short amount of time than you can with a knife. It's also easier to disarm someone with a knife.BlueEyedBelle wrote:Take a look at what happened in China today as well, 22 schoolchildren were stabbed by a crazy man at their school. The guy in China injured but didn't kill them. I wouldn't want to compare to China. Attitude to human life and rights in that country are appalling.

You can have the gun laws, but the problem isn't the law abiding citizens. The criminals will still have guns, and we will still have the shootings. I think there is no need for assault rifles to be around for citizens, and i do believe that it should be harder to become a gun owner. Classes and a real license to carry and own one would be a start.

America is not quite the same as Australia and we should be given respect in our own right instead of trying to compare us to other countries. Most people here don't want to give up having guns and I doubt it'll happen in my lifetime. I myself have a gun at home and a conceal carry permit but I don't carry. It's just how we are and frankly given the number of people who have guns the fact that this doesn't occur more says to me the problems are with mental health treatment rather than with guns. That being said, it really is sad and my heart goes out to everyone involved. They are in my prayers.Dandelion wrote:I just can't get my head around this whole "I'm entitled to carry a gun" thing.
