Luna is an Australian shepherd, yes they are very smart and need a job. I've actually been happy that she's been included in the family swim times and we see her less in the crate. And she didn't find a way to escape (like my crazy dog who is an escape artist and needs an invisible fence as well as a regular fence) Luna ran through the open gate. I will criticize them for not teaching Ollie anything or ollies speech but not this. Most vloggers don't include much of their dogs or animals in the vlogs because that's not what the vlogs are about or really what the viewers watch for. Sometimes we go a few days without seeing C&k dogs but that doesn't mean they are forgotten or neglected.

Yes they got in over their head with the most horrible breed for their family but they seem to be doing better and including her as part of the family. And I am also wondering if she was missing for a few days and they didn't want to say anything until they found her so they wouldn't be crucified by the minions.

Those saying they keep an eye on their dog 99% of the time, i understand, you probably don't have children yet. Before I had kids my dogs were my children. Now they are important members of the family and like children but they are down just a little on the totem pole. I have two children, a toddler Finn's age and a 3.5 year old. I take amazing care of my dogs but I cannot watch them 99% of the time because I'm watching two kids 99% of the time. And yes they shouldn't have opened the gate with her out there but mistakes happen and everyone has brain farts at times. I'm done defending them now but I just can't crucify someone when I don't have the entire story.

Also from what I heard in the vlog Mimi answered the phone, when the person who found the dog called them. She misunderstood what they said so missy and bryan where shocked and trying to figure out what happened. At least that's what I took from it. They were visibly shook up from what happened and I think that bryan loves Luna but missy is more bonded to karma.

This has nothing to do with having kids or not. My personal belief is that dogs should never be outside unsupervised, especially on a property like they have with wild animals, traffic going by, and people constantly coming in and out of their gates.

I was the main one saying i watch my dog 99% of the time and yes, i do have kids. And i still pay attention to my dog and what she is doing just as much. Luna got out bc they were not giving her proper supervision. It would not have happened if they were. They skate over the events leading up to her getting out bc they know they will be at fault. If your dog escapes it is 100% on you, and they should admit that. The less info they give, the more red flags it throws up for me. I cannot and will not defend anyone who lets their dog run free then gets upset bc something could have happened to the dog if there had not been a good Samaritan around to scoop her up. She had to be missing for some time, and they didn't even realize she was gone until someone called and told them. that is 100% being irresponsible pet owners. Which they have proved time and time again that they are completely irresponsible pet owners. I cannot defend that. I have yet to see them interact with Luna the way she should be on a daily basis. We have seen her swim maybe a handful of times, we have NEVER EVER seen her enjoying time with the family like Karma does. I firmly believe the reason we don't see her for days and never see her in the cage anymore is bc they got too much backlash over it. Shes still locked up in the cage just as much or we would see her in the vlogs like we do karma.

I think it just depends on your dog. I would never let my dog in the backyard unsupervised for hours. 10 minutes, tops. But that is because I know my dog and I know he will find something to get into and he's not trustworthy. He was also a stray and has bad behaviors. Other dogs are much more calm and relaxed than him and can be trusted, so I really think it's a case-by-case basis. But if it's a good dog I don't see the harm in letting them in a fenced yard alone for a while.

My dog is never outside unsupervised. I'm too afraid of him getting loose and possibly getting hit by a car or stolen by some horrible person.

when i had dogs and foster dogs they were always supervised outside. In my area there have been cases of people stealing dogs from garden so wouldn't take the risk.

Saying that when i was a child we had a dog that would jump 6foot fences if not supervised, or she would leg it out the front door anytime someone tried walking in or out (that dog was a little sodImage)...but we always knew if she got out and dealt with it straight away. We never had our dogs escape without us knowing straight away and we certainly didn't have random people calling us cause they found our dog

Wasn't gonna join in the dog debate, but might as well.

I have two dogs. A shih tzu/poodle and a terrier mix. I have a fenced in yard, but still only leave them out for ten minutes at most (five for the shih tzu/poodle and the whole ten for the terrier mix because he likes to take his time). Sometimes I stand out with them, sometimes I'm inside, but always nearby (ie I'm near the window or in a nearby room, I never go up to the second floor when they're out). A few weeks ago, I heard my shih tzu/poodle barking and when I went out, they were both gone (he was barking to warn me the other dog was escaping, before he followed suit! lol they've never escaped before so I had no idea). I panicked, of course. Was he barking because someone came and stole them?? What could have happened??? Looked all over my yard and they were nowhere, so I was going to make my way out to the street...then I saw them stroll into my neighbor's yard. I got them back and they were fine, they had gotten out because a chunk of the gate broke, but it scared the hell out of me.

All that is to say, ANY dog can get out. Supervised or not. Fenced in yard or not. But Missy and Bryan's reaction is telling to me. I agree that she was probably missing for a while...we haven't seen her in the past couple of vlogs. They didn't notice she was even gone, and she was gone AT LEAST long enough for someone to take her and leave! And then they use it as "dog gets hit by car" clickbait. Like, really???

This can happen to anyone, but their situation and reactions were sketchy and strange.

Goodness, no. They only had her a few months before she went missing and viewers asked questions, and then they finally admitted they shipped her off to live with Mimi and Papa because 'she kep getting out'.

I have a feeling they would've done the same with Luna by now if it weren't for the backlash they'd receive doing it yet again. Whenever Missy grows sick of an animal she palms 'em off to her parents. She did it with Clare (cat), Leo (dog) and Zuri (cat).

Pizza has many food groups.. Dairy, veggie/fruit, bread.. Poor Finn. The boy's dinner looked like slop youd feed the chicken, mama
Luna will bolt every chance she gets.. Ive had dogs hit by a car ..its traumatizing... Id run more scenarios than complaining that She said," she is safe, whatever that means.." I think it means she's safe- out of the road, dumbass.
She's lucky they even called her.. Could have been the type of people who would have kept her, she's a beautiful pup.
I heard dogs barking during the party vlog at the bouncy house.. They were probably in the side yard.
The real fifty buck question, what was delivered that UPS came up the drive way.. Dont they usually leave the package at the gate so the Polaris gets to be used?

Of course it could happen but it's not something we worry about, the dogs get used to the cars and learn to stay out of the way. Idk I'm not one to defend them but when you live on a larger property I think there are different standards.
Not true, i live on 3 + acres that are unfenced and there is zero chance i'm letting my dog out unsupervised. Other people have different standards, but using a blanket statement that people on larger properties wouldn't supervise their dogs is not at all true. I would not give my dog the slightest chance of getting hit by a car or bitten by a snake or being drug off by a coyote under my watch. Do what you want with your dog, but don't make generalized statements about how all people with lots of land have the same standards, clearly that isn't at all true.

I'm not trying to make a blanket statement. I'm just trying to say different factors play in to what people chose to do with their pets.

I agree. And I also doubt that they are paying more attention to watching their kids *instead* of their dogs. I know that's the case in many families with kids and dogs, and that is fine, but I just don't see evidence of that in the Lanning house. Usually the kids are in the playroom in front of the tv, the dogs are penned up somehow, and they are sleeping or watching Netflix or doing Legos. Image I'm actually not judging them for this incident in particular - dogs get out and things happen. Luna ended up ok and thankfully everything worked out fine. But, in general, they don't keep a good enough eye on their kids or their dogs.

When they picked up the dog and brought her home, they were all getting out of the truck and Bryan tells Jim that she got out when UPS went out the gate. Later in the vlog, they look at the video footage and see her run out. They made it look like they were just seeing it then.
How did Bryan know when they just brought her back that it was UPS???

Missy said THEY let her out to go potty. Didn't they realize she was gone when they went to let her back in? Or didn't they check again until they got the phone call?
Funny how the story went from 4 miles to 5 miles.
So they do let the dogs out without supervision and this proves it. Of course she's going to run, that's the kind of dog she is. She needs that.

Yes, she could have been hit by a car. I'm sure that's what the lady told them.
You can see when they're driving around the kind of fences those properties have, they all have them b/c people have horses out there.

Fire in the fireplace when it's in the 90's and a tropical thunderstorm. I'm sure they keep their house very cold with air conditioning ... they always have blankets.

Finn with the runny nose again while brylard is feeding him the pizza. Wipe the kids nose you idiot!

Poor Luna will probably never get out of the crate again.

This is all the stuff that makes this so fishy. It's not just that Luna got out, shit happens, its the vague explanations, the stories not adding up, the over exaggerations. Something happened that they are trying to hide and thats the bad part about it.

And to add to the fire in the fireplace when its "probably 100 degrees outside.." (missy's words) they had the fire going with the windows open and probably the AC running inside. Why on earth would you have the windows open when it's in the 90's outside with the fireplace burning? They really are ignorant.

Dogs get out, it happens. If it's not jumping then it's digging, bolting, or just an accident. Even the most diligent owners and well behaved pets can find themselves in this situation.

That being said, my dog is never left in a situation where he's not (to the best of my knowledge) being contained. If the gate needs to be opened for more than a moment, he's inside. If we're outside of the fence, he's leashed, even if it is just to go to the car. He gets free roam of the yard during the day, but we're diligent in making sure the gate is locked behind us.

If Luna escaped due to an accident or her own cunning, then I have nothing to say. But if she was in an area that doesn't contain her then that's a different story.
