I am sorry but their DIY yard looks like shit one. And they didn't DIY anything. His parents drove on to pay and do the yard and now it's done they're leaving. Should be called "Steps to using your friends and family."

Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
I'm wondering maybe the landlord approved this DIY for the garden in return for a lower rent for a few months. They (landlord) could see that this makes an improvement for their property and can use it to increase the rent for future tenants....

I agree, I also didn't get Corbin's comment at the end about how one person needs to watch Juniper while the other works and thats why they needed extra help. That didn't make sense since June was in the playpen. Plus my brother and his wife redid their whole yard while watching a two year old. I don't get why these guys act like they need so much help because of June.Steps_to_STFU wrote:I am sorry but their DIY yard looks like shit one. And they didn't DIY anything. I get the feeling that the house is actually missy and Brian’s and they are being paid to fix it up

These morons are like mentally stunted. I really hope they don't have anymore children. They are incapable of doing anything that normal everyday people do. They have no clue how to parent.nelliebee wrote:I agree, I also didn't get Corbin's comment at the end about how one person needs to watch Juniper while the other works and thats why they needed extra help. Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
I think they had NO family in Oregon. I never watched much but this is the most I've seen them with family. From what I see, they moved closer to family. They have help a short drive away if they need it.
They live in murrieta...in RIVERSIDE county. It is dry and hot. The weather in O.C. and L.A. are COMPLETELY different. When its 100 in Riverside its a nice breezy 76 coastal. Some people like the heat and hummidity of the desert INLAND. I do not. That though is the reason why the price of a 4 bedroom Murrieta house is 2k and a home in L.A. or O.C. unless you go to Huntington Beach or some shit hole city is going to be at least 4k. I remember you could buy HUGE homes out there for 200k. Probably still can. The comparable in O.C. or L.A. is 500k + Location, location, location. The homes there don't hold value like they do elsewhere and it is for good reason.
when you pay 10k in property taxes and you worked your ass off to get your mortgage down on a million+ dollar house overlooking the water. 2k a month for a 4 bedroom rental in Southern California is CHEAP AF. LOL

Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
Kelsey and Corbin's parents and siblings (their immediate family) live in Idaho. They were technically closer to both sets of grandparents when they lived in Portland. In southern CA, they live about an hour away from an aunt and a few cousins.
Yes, expensive vs. inexpensive is all relative. I think the question is whether $2K a month in rent (they're not owners, so nothing they pay is going towards equity) is expensive or inexpensive for someone with their income. A four bedroom single family home for two adults and one baby is certainly a luxury. I don't see a lot of sponsorship deals coming their way anymore. And I doubt the Baby League gig pays well, if at all. It seems that it's something that smaller channels do to grow their viewership, but I don't see any of the bigger channels participating once they're in the "big leagues," which I think is telling. It's hard to know how much they're making, maybe they are making the big bucks on YouTube. Their views are certainly up since they moved.

Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
Did they seriously only lay sod over half of that back yard. It looks like a job half done. This whole DIY backyard is incredibly ridiculous. Why not save that money for a down payment on a house!? Can they write off the expenses because they used it for vlog footage?? Even so, that’s just a write off and doesn’t make it “free.” These two are just so clueless!

Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
I wonder if they ran this past their landlord at all!
"Yeah, we are only going to lay sod halfway in the back. Only in the area shaded by the house. When you try and sell this house just tell the new owners to sod the rest."
Morons! The fire pit area.. who wants to walk through shitty dirt to sit at a fire pit. Normally you would throw down some other material maybe stones etc. These fucking idiots are like nope.. let's loosen all this dirt then sit in it. Super relaxing.
Then asking if we want Kelsey to do some gardening videos. Kelsey knows literally nothing about anything. Why would anyone take advice from her. This will be like their stupid "cooking" show. Gee, let's Google a meal and make it. Anyone can do that how stupid.

It does look half done... maybe the idea was for the fire pit area to feel like the beach? I dunno, to me it just looks like they started with the lawn and ran out of moneySteps_to_STFU wrote:I wonder if they ran this past their landlord at all!

Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
But the beach is pretty. You have sand, and the ocean there. Not dirt. And when it rains, which it does, this winter notwithstanding, it's going to be all muddy and nasty.

Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
Well it looks like Kelsey has cleared up the question of someone else like the landlord paying for this yard project. They are paying for it themselves. They act as if they’re such good stewards of this rental, but I wonder if it has occurred to them that the landlord would NOT want to maintain that after they leave. It’s an expense that requires maintenance. There are drought-tolerant grass species, but I wonder if these two are resourceful enough to figure that out. A landlord wants something that’s low maintenance, and the raised garden beds and the type of planting they’re talking about does not sound low maintenance, which makes me question if they’ve actually gotten the go-ahead to do any of this. Not to mention the fact that they only put sod down on half of the lawn. Why would the landlord want any of that? I would be very surprised if the landlord was giving them free reign to plant sod, build garden beds, etc. Any produce they grow will likely contribute to the existing rat problem.

Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
Kelsey's explanation was so BONKERS - leave your rental nicer than you found it??? Um, honey, you are paying RENT (paying your landlord's mortgage and extra) to leave it the same way you found it! They are just so stupid.
Yes, don't trash your rental house, but also don't spend $1000s to improve a backyard that isn't yours!

Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
I think they want to be homeowners, and they want to do home projects, but they do not have the patience or the forethought to save for it and to take on the full financial responsibility. So they blow a good chuck of change on their rental for the instant gratification and come up with a justification that makes zero sense.
I know that his parents helped, but it will be interesting to see if they knew what they were doing and how long this sod lasts. Apparently, sod gets a bad rap because if you do not know what you’re doing, it’s easy to install it incorrectly. Did they check the pH of their soil so they could fertilize and lime, depending on their soil analysis? Did they order the right sod for their climate and the level of shade? Did they cut out the existing patchy grass with a sod cutter to get the root system before they used the rototiller? Did they lay the sections closely enough so that the edges won’t dry out and die? They planted grass in the shade, so they will need to be extra careful about watering because it’s more susceptible to fungal disease. I know next to nothing about sod, and I was able to learn all of that by a simple google search. I hope that his parents did their research, but apparently they encouraged this waste of money, so I question their intelligence as well.

Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
Did she ever say in her little rant/explanation that they got permission from the landlord? Because sod can get pricey to maintain, especially in a hot/dry climate. I cant imagine a landlord would be happy about the added water bill, and likely a landscaping bill because the next renters might not take care of it!
