Re: 8 Passengers: Feeding Your Kids Leftovers and Emotions | Part 15
Soooooo, it sounds like from today's vlog, Ruby needs to learn to say no to more responsibility so she can stop blowing off her existing responsibilities: her children. The recent responsibilities she has chosen to take on could have waited, the dog, writing the book, starting a clothing line. Yes, the businesses bring more money, but just for a few more years, her focus could have/should have been the children she chose to have and who need her time and attention.
If she didn't want to come across as being a victim, then her display of emotions should have been left out of the vlog. (I wonder if she is going through early menopause, she is all over the board with emotions.) Poor Ruby, and imagine the humans who have worked since they were 12 years old to help put food on the table for their siblings. Or, the parents who are absent due to their jobs, sickness, single-parents working to make ends meet, etc. Many do not have the choice but to be absent from their children because it is how they make ends meet and provide for them. Ruby has the ability to be there for her children, but because she's not going to be a "mom Victim," , she makes the choice to wash her hands of responsibility to them. What many wouldn't do to be in her shoes and be able to have the time with their children: waking them up in the morning, available to put them to bed, showing up for their activities, and fixing a meal for them because you know one day, it will be all gone when they move out. It appears Eve goes to bed regularly in her school clothes. Ruby, do you ever put your young children to bed? If you did, you would know what Eve has on before the morning. Ruby seems to boohoo a lot about her situation, but they are all choices she has made. She chooses to make her kids grow up fast, but then turns around in a vlog, crying because once they move, she knows she won't be as involved with them. She chooses to pour herself into businesses, instead of being present for her children, then breaks down because "she's been working since she was 12." It's time for Ruby to slow down and smell the roses, because they will not be around forever. The way she treats her children now, she'll be lucky if they choose to come back to visit with their kids--I know I wouldn't!!

I dont know if anyone's already mentioned this because I'm a little behind on the posts here, but if you go to the comments on Shari's previous video where she works out with Abbey, there is a thread of comments having to do with how Ruby had blocked a lot of people from her Instagram simply because they asked her questions as to why she does certain things the way that she does, and her not being able to handle constructive criticism.

How does Shari have comments on her videos? Are they approving them? And if so, how did those comments get through? Does YT not think her videos are kid-directed? I think they walk a fine line with her.emma2948 wrote:I dont know if anyone's already mentioned this because I'm a little behind on the posts here, but if you go to the comments on Shari's previous video where she works out with Abbey, there is a thread of comments having to do with how Ruby had blocked a lot of people from her Instagram simply because they asked her questions as to why she does certain things the way that she does, and her not being able to handle constructive criticism.
And wow, the people defending her! "It's hard putting your life on social media!" And the best was about how Ruby "loves and feeds her children" and that it's "not harming them".

Re: 8 Passengers: Feeding Your Kids Leftovers and Emotions | Part 15
Shari has always had comments. Wasn't YT only disabling comments on videos that were attracting "the wrong crowd"? Like 10 yr olds doing splits in a leotard? Other channels with minors kept their comments too. Or do you mean after COPPA? I don't think she'd have to declare as kid content. Ironic that her mom's channel would. She doesn't seem to moderate comments at all. She even does a "mean comments" video every now and then. The fact that she can at least recognize differing opinions exist is a miracle in that family. She has responded to some in the past, for example asking why Julie is the only one in the family who didn't get her own room. I REALLY hope she addresses the Ruby complaint thread.lmmomSD wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 7:10 pmHow does Shari have comments on her videos? Are they approving them? Also, I find it really interesting that Shari is sharing a bathroom with Eve, she doesn't seem happy about it. Why do you think Abby was given the best room with the balcony? You would think Shari would have gotten it and shared the nicer bathroom with Abby or Julie. Shari ended up with a really nice room in the end (once Ruby gave it up), but at the cost of cleaning after Eve. Julie scored big, even being given the choice to bathroom share with Abby. Which reminds me. Eve was missing from the vlog the day the kids all saw the house for the first time and picked rooms/bathrooms, plus many other times recently. Maybe that woman in the kitchen was really a housekeeper/nanny? Who watches Eve every time they leave her home alone during a family activity?
Re: 8 Passengers: Feeding Your Kids Leftovers and Emotions | Part 15
I’m convinced after the last few vlogs that Eve is being neglected. Sending a 6 year old kindergartener to school without food is not ok. Eve sleeping in dirty school clothes night after night and going unbathed for days at a timeKattiness Everdeen wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2020 11:57 amThe fact she can't recognize that the teacher doesn't want to deal with her hungry/grumpy/distracted child all day completely escapes her. As long as Ruby doesn't feel any consequences! I loved hearing all the kids chime in on things they could bag up that Ruby left strewn around the kitchen. Shari grabbed the phone, Eve suggested her wedding ring, and Julie went for the jugular.....her vlog camera.Alycat_2001_uk wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2020 10:33 amAgreed. I was already annoyed that she's saying her teacher supports her punishing her small child because she thinks it's okay to let her grow up feral. Then she positively gloats when Chad is worried about his grades. Then Shari makes an actually sensible suggestion (EVERY child behaviour specialist will say that you state rules and boundaries clearly and stick to them, not just spring consequences on them without warning) but she can't listen. There is no 'safe space' if your kids don't know what you're going to do next.skyandbuildings wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2020 5:22 am Today's video has so many things to yell about.
Ruby listed her responsibilities (her kids weren't one of them). So in an effort to not get mad at her kids she goes to the van and throws away anything they've left in there including valentines gifts and artwork.
I don'T even want to start on the new rules she was trying to implement but even Shari was mocking Ruby.
I loved Shari's suggestion that they should start a bag for Ruby. It'd likely be fuller than everyone else's.
The kids are disrespectful, but I can't blame them. Ruby gets off on manipulating/gaslighting them. Is it any wonder Chad's first instinct was to hold her beloved pitcher hostage and threaten to smash it? She should be thrilled he was actually concerned at the thought he would fail school.....just so Ruby didn't get upset by looking at his unsightly schoolwork. She recently threw out Russells uncompleted homework and told him it didn't matter. Ruby is the worst. Kevin is too, but I have some compassion for him always having to balance Ruby's unpredictable whims. The kids knew Kevin had nothing to do with this....
is not ok. Eve’s physical and emotional needs being passed off to her older sisters is not ok. Shari, Abby, and Julie being expected to act as child mothers, not big sisters, is not ok and will only cause them to resent one another and Eve. Eve over the last few vlogs has appeared lethargic, depressed, and is clearly struggling to adjust to living in a new house. She doesn’t need a life coach, she needs loving, engaged, and empathetic parents. Ruby seems completely withdrawn from the kids and I’m a little worried that she is struggling with her mental health. This doesn’t seem like Ruby at all. She seems exhausted, anxious, overwhelmed, and frankly like she needs help. And her answer seems to be establishing rigid boundaries and depriving herself of things she enjoys like shopping, travel, reading, and eating sweets. What TV does she watch for fun? When was the last time we saw her do something she enjoys like watch a movie? She seems disconnected from her sisters, her parents, and she doesn’t have friends. For a while she was getting up early to go to work our classes. How is that going? I kind of believe that she got started raising her sisters and now she is a little burned out on motherhood. And ya know what?! That’s ok!!!! Every mom goes through it but she has to find better balance and Kevin needs to be WAY more engaged as a father and a husband. I often think that Ruby passes responsibilities to her older girls that she feels that she can’t
pass on to Kevin. Why can’t he take the kids to school? Why can’t he get up early and make the kids lunch? Why can’t he get Abby off to harp? He’s like this weird absent minded disengaged professor type. His wife is suffering and he needs to step up to the plate. I really feel for Ruby, she’s going through something heavy. She alluded to it earlier saying that she uses shopping as a way to make herself feel better. Feel better from what?

I could feel sorry for her if she showed any self awareness. But she seems to think she's the best mom ever. Or she's trying to convince herself of that.
I agree that there's something off with her, and that she is going through some kind of mom midlife crisis, and that Kevin is either cheating or immersed in gender roles thinking that he brings home the bacon, so the kids are Ruby's job. But instead of getting help, she's flailing around like Ellie always looking for the next thing to make her happy.

Ruby's stressed because she's biting off more than she can chew. Why buy a dog a week before you move? Why start a clothing line during house renovations? These things she brought on herself. I used to feel sorry for her because she has all those kids and a husband who travels often. Now I have no sympathy for her.

Has she ever shopped at old navy for her girls? They have a ton of options and I know plenty of mothers of tween girls that dress age appropriately.
She acts like there are no clothes for teenagers/tweens out there. No one needed another overpriced clothing line from a Griffiths sister.

I’m almost positive she used to. I know she shops at the Gap because I’ve recognized dresses. J. Crew has beautiful modest dresses, as well. One of the dresses she used as an example was J. Crew - the one that they say wasn’t designed for a girl wearing a bra. Right, but they’ve got plenty of lovely dresses that can be worn with bras.Boymomma123 wrote:Has she ever shopped at old navy for her girls? I know she likes high end and I’ve spent a lot of time searching for the perfect dresses for events coming up for my nearly 11 year old lately. Nordstrom has plenty, Dillard’s does too. Ralph Lauren. There are a ton out there that are modest without looking too young or womanly.
That being said, I do actually think the pieces in today’s video look pretty cute. I was scared they’d look Bollie like or neon or have a ton of patterns going on. I’m very curious to see pricing.

I was just coming on here to ask if there's really no options for teenage girls in America. Here in the UK there are so many clothing lines specifically aimed at that age group, and so I was surprised to think it wasn't the same over there. They did pick some awful outfits for their examples of current choices, but I noticed they only had three examples.chs6213 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 29, 2020 6:55 amI’m almost positive she used to. Looking at the clothes in this new brand of theirs, nothing was shown that doesn't look similar to something already on sale in the UK, so I assume that's the same with you guys?
Re: 8 Passengers: Feeding Your Kids Leftovers and Emotions | Part 15
Oh, I’m quite sure I could find very similar things as they were wearing in size 14/16 in the US. On Amazon. Next day shipping.Alycat_2001_uk wrote:I was just coming on here to ask if there's really no options for teenage girls in America. Justice has a ton of cute clothes for tweens. It's not all miniskirts and leopard print. Ruby's full of it for saying that there are no choices. Just Google "modest tween clothing" I'm sure that especially in Utah where the demand is higher, that there are plenty of clothes that are modest.chs6213 wrote:I’m almost positive she used to. I'm interested in seeing prices too. One thing this line has over Bollie is that at least it's cotton. It's not all polyester. I can't imagine paying what they are charging for ugly polyester clothes.

I looked at the Ruby do website and the dresses are decently priced at $42 and the other two pieces are $21.
The stuff is cute but all of the pieces could easily be found at similar pricing ( or less) at many stores throughout the U.S and online. Obviously all of the 12 year olds that watch them will beg their parents for the clothes.
I am really surprised the two dresses weren't $80 considering how over priced Bollie items are.
I agree Ralph lauren and other higher end brands have a ton of age appropriate clothes for tweens especially dresses/church clothes.

I remember reading a comment once where someone suggested she shop at old navy for her girls and she said they were too big for the kids stuff and too small for the women’s. Umm clearly not because she herself nearly fit into the children’s jumpsuits. She’s just being dramatic and creating an issue so she can act like her brand is the solution to the problem. Same as Bollie acting like there aren’t high quality brands out there that cater to “everyBody” and they’re the first to ever to do it.
A quick google search shows that Target, gap, Nordstrom’s, Walmart, amazon, justice, Macy’s, and 20+ other stores all have specific “tween shops”. Again, she’s pretending there’s an issue where there’s not.

I had to laugh on today's vlog when the girls were modeling clothes. They said a certain dress looked prairie like (very similar to a Bollie dress) and one of them said this is something Aunt Bonnie would wear. I wonder how the sisters felt about those comments. I thought it was hilarious.

I was just getting ready to say the same thing.....made me laugh! I thought she WAS wearing the Bollie dress....lol!

Had Anyone seen Rubys instagram posts trying to promote her clothing line saying kids’ clothing should never be sized up to a Size 14 and womens clothing should never be sized down to a xs?! Is she kidding?! Has she heard of size inclusivity?!

WTF is she talking about? She wants "modest" clothes for tweens but cuts out the upper end of the sizes? I get that tweens don't want to wear clothing that looks like they're 8, but not all kids clothing looks like only a small child would wear it. It's why stores have teen sections.lrs-1992 wrote:Had Anyone seen Rubys instagram posts trying to promote her clothing line saying kids’ clothing should never be sized up to a Size 14 and womens clothing should never be sized down to a xs?! And her own sister wears XS (and is quite proud of it). Wonder if that's a dig at Ellie because St. Jennifer is always saying how cute Ellie is.

I loved that part of the vlog too!! lol. I think it was Julie that made the comment. I thought the outfits were okay-definitely better by a long shot over Bollie's spring line! Much better prices too-I was shocked! What is going to be funny is Ruby's clothes line being more popular than Bollie! Her YT channel has a lot more views than Bonnie or Ellie and Jared when they were posting.ba1006 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 29, 2020 9:30 am I had to laugh on today's vlog when the girls were modeling clothes. I still can't get over how high all the outfits in the Spring line of Bollie are!

Also, she spends half the vlog talking about "modest" clothing while showing her girls in clothing she considers immodest, zooming in on their bras, the tightness of the garments, the off the shoulder things, and talking rather a lot about their body shapes.lmmomSD wrote: ↑Sat Feb 29, 2020 11:31 amWTF is she talking about?
