It is ironic that her kids can't use google because Ruby and Shari both have YouTube channels and YouTube is owned by Google.lmmomSD wrote:They can't use Google. Re: 8 Passengers: can't stop lying, freeze drying, or impulse buying! | Part 19
I think it's mostly a Ruby thing. I have never heard other vloggers talk about it. The McKnights had contracts where the parents had to be able to track everything the kids did. I had software to monitor my kids when they were young teens, but once they were older and showed some responsibility, I took it off.Gigi7 wrote:Is that Ruby? And is it just google? Or any search engine?
I don't know if it's just Google or other search engines. I wonder if there's an LDS sanctioned search engine.

I actually feel bad for Shari in today's video. In the first click bait college video she made it clear that she wasn't going to vlog because she wanted to be in the moment and enjoy her senior trip with her mom and dad. But then Ruby vlogs the whole time! I can't imagine how that felt having the distraction of the camera, and all of the times Ruby had to stop and get her precious "B roll" shots. For as much as she loves to give out advice she doesn't seem aware of when she needs to implement boundaries in her own life. And the little blurb about her "hundreds and hundreds" of fans who came to their Boston meetup, gag!!!

Let's go on a special trip in the middle of a pandemic to visit a college our daughter isn't going to - and then proceed to complain about 'all the things that went wrong' on our trip. It's so terrible - the fire alarms went off, we didn't get our desert, it's cold outside, we didn't research to see what was open or not, we're stupid and went on the wrong shuttle, boo hoo. I just can't stand their privilege. There are people who have been quarantining for a year now and choosing not travel and go out or enjoy they things they use to, and dealing with the mental health impact of quarantining to keep others safe. While these people go galloping about to Boston and then whine and complain that everything went wrong because of a few minor inconveniences.

Re: 8 Passengers: can't stop lying, freeze drying, or impulse buying! | Part 19
The first time I have really been in public in over a year was last weekend when I went to Sams club and target. My mom didn't want to do anything other than curbside for a while until both of us have had our vaccines and it has been at least 2 weeks after our 2nd shots since my mom is almost 70 and is high risk if she got covid. I bet the frankes wouldn't even care about spreading covid to high risk people like my mom. Also Ruby need to keep her mask over her nose in public at all times. Why waste all of this time looking at colleges you aren't going to. If shari didn't get into byu I'm sure Kevin or Ruby would bribe someone with money or find some sort of loophole to get her in the college. We were supposed to visit our aunt at her beach house last summer but we didn't because we knew it wasn't safe because of covid. The Frankes have taken way too many non essential trips during covid that weren't necessary.rulatows000 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 11:07 am Let's go on a special trip in the middle of a pandemic to visit a college our daughter isn't going to - and then proceed to complain about 'all the things that went wrong' on our trip. Re: 8 Passengers: can't stop lying, freeze drying, or impulse buying! | Part 19
So Shari admits she did not get into BU half way through the vlog.
Did these idiots just think everything was open over in Boston? Unlike Utah, things are still closed or limited in capacity in Boston due to the pandemic. Kevin seemed to be the only respectful individual who wore his mask when in public.
I’m literally so confused how they bought tickets to a baseball game and it wasn’t even in Boston. They’re so dumb!

Why did they visit the school if she didn't get in??
Re: 8 Passengers: can't stop lying, freeze drying, or impulse buying! | Part 19
When did she say she didn’t get in? I didn’t hear that. Hearing Ruby talk about the First Amendment and Shari’s thesis, it was clear she really is out of her depth. Isn’t she supposed to be homeschooling middle schoolers? It’s great she is so proud of Shari though.

Re: 8 Passengers: can't stop lying, freeze drying, or impulse buying! | Part 19
I think it might have been a misunderstanding? I don't think BU had even sent out acceptance/rejections, and I didn't hear it addressed in the video either. Ruby/Kevin specifically said this was a birthday trip for Shari. Considering they didn't even arrange anything with BU, that checks out. Although nobody seemed particularly happy on the trip so I can believe the theory that Ruby forced the trip for content (maybe even hoping for disaster). Ruby said they just bought tickets without any prep, which makes little sense with Kevin's planned surgery and Shari's weeks/months of increasing vision loss and headaches. Why go now on a whim? I also wonder if Kevin is heavily medicated. He spent his life traveling out of that airport, yet managed to park in an employee lot and take an employee shuttle.nylady wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 6:24 pm When did she say she didn’t get in? Ruby is a raging idiot, but Shari is such a condescending brat. No wonder Ruby seems scared of her. I also have to wonder who tracked down all these lawyers and judges to proofread high school papers all year long. I really hope Shari posts the paper for everyone to read, as I am now curious if she really has a gift for persuasive writing. Shari stumbled over her own words trying to make Ruby look like an idiot at breakfast, so without reading her work, I'll have trouble believing it is anything more than another show of her heavily bloated ego. Even Kevin was more kind and helpful trying to explain the concept to Ruby, and that says a lot, considering that is where Shari gets her behavior from.
I don't think the snake has died yet, but it sounds inevitable. However, as Shari cheerfully pointed out, they haven't killed Dwight yet and she actually likes him!
-------------------
ETA: Why is Ruby once again claiming she and Kevin will move into a tiny efficiency in a city when he retires? Is she giving the giant house she is renovating for "the grandkids" to one of the kids?

When they were out to eat and talking about Shari’s thesis. They mentioned how a professor at BU was reviewing it but hasn’t gotten back to her and Shari says quickly, “I’m not even mad that I didn’t get in.” And Ruby goes on to say Shari may study law at BYU.nylady wrote:When did she say she didn’t get in? Re: 8 Passengers: can't stop lying, freeze drying, or impulse buying! | Part 19
I honestly don't think Shari would do well in law school. Critical thinking is discouraged in that household.
And I think they went to Boston because Shari and Ruby like it, and as a senior trip, but they said it was to visit BU to keep from getting called out for making a frivolous trip while the pandemic is still going on. They caught a lot of grief for not canceling the British VI trip at the beginning of the pandemic. New York was already a hot spot, and they were gallivanting around Times Square like nothing was wrong. And when things started getting worse, they didn't come home. Shanna Leroy had to talk them into leaving early when the earthquake happened.

Actually, she said she submitted her thesis to the law school at BYU not BU. I couldn't make out what she said after that. Doesn't matter, we all know she isn't going to BU which is good because I don't want to run into them there since my son goes there - haha.freshbalsam wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 3:46 amWhen they were out to eat and talking about Shari’s thesis. In Ruby's iG shill of the day she claims she was just interviewed as an "influencer" and after having a taste of being "a worldly influencer", there is NOTHING as rewarding as "sitting on the carpet teaching her kids." It was IG story and I couldn't even watch the whole thing I was rolling my eyes so hard.

It was so nauseating! She claimed that she is able to speak on having influence since she has had success in her career. Let's define success here, Ruby. Putting your kids' private and intimate moments on the internet is not success in my book. Sure you had curious views and the cash followed, but that is not success. This has and will continue to follow and damage your children for years to come. A stay at home mom who keeps her head down and protects her children and their privacy is an honorable success. Your YouTube "career" is not.CognitiveDissonance wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 12:33 pm In Ruby's iG shill of the day she claims she was just interviewed as an "influencer" and after having a taste of being "a worldly influencer", there is NOTHING as rewarding as "sitting on the carpet teaching her kids." Re: 8 Passengers: can't stop lying, freeze drying, or impulse buying! | Part 19
I finally watched Shari's birthday haul (those are so weird) so I don't know if this has already been said, but at the end of the video she talks about how she needs to learn how to do all these adult things now that she's an adult and moving out. College is not real adult life. Nowhere close. It's a completely different world, especially at a school like BYU that is a major "bubble" (no hate on the school, my school was also a "bubble" away from reality). I guess for Shari maybe it is a little bit more of an adult experience as she won't be living at home for summers. But she'll still be in college, which is not being an adult, sorry!

Re: 8 Passengers: can't stop lying, freeze drying, or impulse buying! | Part 19
Alright guys, here's a breakdown on their two latest Boston vids from a Boston local:
1. "Universities in Utah are so separate. There's big grassy fields, parking lots." She's quite literally in the middle of Boston. Would she show up to NYU and be surprised that there's no fields or parking lots? I have no idea what this woman was expecting when she visited a school in the middle of a city. Guess Ruby wasn't lying when she said they did no research or preparation for this trip. Did she really not even look up an image of the school her daughter was considering?
2. Seeing them walking around, even outside, without masks is infuriating. And especially in that little Red Sox store. The neighborhood they stayed in (Fenway) is a very densely populated area. It's very rare for anyone to be walking around there without masks. You stick out like an inconsiderate, sore thumb when you do so. I've seen several maskless individuals get yelled at by locals. Wonder if that happened to them at all.
3. No idea why they got a rental car. Boston isn't called America's Walking City for nothing; you can access almost everything by walking and taking public transport. Most of the areas they appeared to visit were within walking distance from their hotel. At one point they were driving just a street over from their hotel. The bridge they visited was a 15 or so minute walk. There's plenty of parking garages if they really wanted to drive. Really unsure why they didn't park in one. Someone said they don't use Google. Maybe they refused to utilize it to search for parking? In one clip alone I know they were within sight of three different garages.
4. The Red Sox are in spring training right now, hence why the game was "@" Red Sox. Their season doesn't start until April. On top of that, Fenway Park is being used as a mass vaccination site right now. Really shouldn't have been hard for them to figure this out with a simple Google search. Guess this is again due to their lack of research or planning.
5. Honestly can't fault them for not knowing the name of the bridge they visited, but it's the BU (Boston University) Bridge, not the "U" Bridge. Not knowing that they were at the Charles River though? I'd guess they'd never visited Boston before if I heard someone say that.
6. The breakfast place they visited is actually pretty cool. It's in a train car-like building. Interesting to see her comment on the conversations going on around her from the college students. I wonder if she heard anything that made the culture of east coast schools apparent.
7. The temple they visited was a decent way out the city. Like, about two towns away from the edge of the city and requires a couple of bus transfers to reach. I wonder how often Shari would actually be able to get out there if she attended BU.
8. The "tiny church" she pointed out in the center of downtown is the Old State House. AKA the site of the Boston Massacre. Not a church at all and never was. It's a stop on the Freedom Trail, an extremely popular tourist activity that they actually mentioned wanting to do (see #9). And no idea who told them that the Constitution was read here to the citizens of Boston. It was the Declaration of Independence, not the Constitution. I can't really fault someone from Utah for not knowing this info, but it was a huge facepalm moment to see her talk so confidently about its history while being completely wrong. Stuff like this makes me wonder how much Shari thinks she knows about Boston vs. what she actually knows.
9. The Freedom Trail is not closed lmao. It's a path through the city that you can walk with or without a tour guide. I'm sure plenty of the stops along the trail weren't open (duh! It's a pandemic and our local gov is taking it fairly seriously here!!!), but the route itself is impossible to "close" and you can visit plenty of the stops and view them from the outside.
That's all, folks. I don't watch this family at all anymore but when I heard they were visiting my city I just had to see what they were doing. Gave me a few laughs at their incompetency. Annoyed me with their failures to properly mask. I don't think Shari would do well here. Stuff like this always makes me feel super negative so I'm signing off for the night.

Re: 8 Passengers: can't stop lying, freeze drying, or impulse buying! | Part 19
They took a family trip last year (or the year before) to the east coast. They did drive through Boston and Cambridge and were surprised Harvard was in such a congested area. Guess they're not used to big cities. After that, they went to the Cape. I had to laugh too when she said it's called the U Bridge. People really should go to Boston during the Head of the Charles Regatta and stand on the BU bridge and watch the rowers. So much fun. I'm sorry they had such a bad time here because I think it's the best place in the world. Maybe Kevin did have a point about the drivers though - haha.

Re: 8 Passengers: can't stop lying, freeze drying, or impulse buying! | Part 19
I felt so bad for Julie and Abby in today's vlog. The whole time Chad and his friends were there, they were both standing or sitting in the background, just watching them. Those poor girls probably were wishing they had friends to hang out with, but because of Ruby's homeschooling they have to be satisfied with just watching quietly in the background. I guess Chad most likely wouldn't have wanted his little sisters butting in, but they're close enough in age to Chad that I think they could've joined in a little bit or at least talked to his friends. But they kept their distance - looked very interested but were too shy to say anything. These girls need some friends. With Ruby seeming to have some kind of rift with the Griffith family, the girls don't even get to see their cousins anymore who they seemed super close to. They got dragged out of school to do homeschool and follow the same curriculum as their 7 and 9 year old siblings. They aren't allowed to have phones which makes it impossible to keep in touch with any of the friends/cousins they used to hang out with. Ruby is so on top of field trips to get donuts and taking hot tub breaks, but doesn't seem to care whatsoever about keeping her kids socialized and making sure they have friends and the opportunity to connect with people their own age.
Re: This Is How We Bingham: Rad dad and family fads! | Part 6
I only really have soemthing to say about 6&7 and they're kinda combined. I really hope that she picks BU purely because it would be such a culture shock and she might actually grow in to a real person being so far away from her parents. I do wonder about the conversations they heard I would bet you anything that based on what you said about people in that neighborhood wearing masks it may have had something to do with that. Part of me hopes of was a super liberal conversation about the lgbt community though bevause Shari is still young enough that if she heard it and it really got in her brain it would change how she feels about mormons even just a bit.juliettecr wrote:Alright guys, here's a breakdown on their two latest Boston vids from a Boston local:
