No two kids develop exactly the same, he is trying to communicate which is the big deal. Even though he might be babbling, he is trying to talk. It would be concerning if he never babbles. I think he should socialize more with kids though around his age though, it can really help in my opinion.Eponine24601 wrote:Is Ollie behind on talking for his age? I was just wondering because I saw some comments about it and I don't have my kids yet so I don't really know what age they should start talking at. How old is Ollie anyway?

Re: BumsAlongTheWay part 18
I'm a long time lurker & rarely post so this will probably come out as one of those long posts where the person sounds unnecessarily mad bc they're just now getting out all their feelings, so forgive me haha. My husband is in the military & deploys about every year & a half. In fact right now he's been gone since early January and won't be back until March bc of training. I normally don't mind when people miss their loved ones after a few days or a business trip bc I get it! They're not used to it! But Missy takes it to a whole other level. I have never been more annoyed. Grow the hell up & take care of your son by yourself for once. Get out of the house, take him somewhere without asking for help from your whole family tree. And hey guess what, your son isn't used to him being gone either. TAKE HIM TO SEE HIM WHEN HE GETS HOME! I can't even deal with the selfishness & stupidity of this family.
Second, My mama was a single mom, a real one, who juggled multiple jobs so that she could give us in her words "a life I really know nothing about". She worked her butt off & cherished every moment she had with us, she worked hard to afford private school for us when we lived in a city that had the option. I heard her complain once in a blue moon and never in the whiny way Missy does. It was more of a "I'm super tired so we're having dinner and going to bed a little bit early" kind of thing. Missy cannot even compare. She has no idea what it's like.

for me i would say up to 24 months because that's what the clothing sizes go by. then it's toddler sizes. anything after that sounds ridiculous.jodilo88 wrote:^ All babies grow at different rates, but Ollie is a year and a half old (I refuse to say months after a year unless it's like "18 months" which is a year and a half) and his speech or lack thereof alarms some people here. He barely opens his mouth 99% of the time in the vlogs to talk, doesn't talk when prompted (yesterday's vlog being an exception) and sounds like he's mumbling, but B&M make "words" out of it anyway. As someone mentioned earlier, he used to questioningly say "A da?" like asking what something was, and instead of telling him whatever the thing was he was pointing at, B&M would just "A da?" back at him. Ollie mostly points and grunts or "eh eh eh"-s at things from what the vlogs show.
My cousin who is about 6 months older than Ollie just had her 2 year check up. My aunt was told she should be saying at least 5-7 word sentences and 100+ words. My cousin's response was looking at the doctor and saying (I shit you not) "that's a nice stethoscope you got there."
also i'm not defending them because i do think oliver is behind (or meeting the bare minimum) but 6 months can make a huge difference in speech and your cousin sounds advanced as most 2 year olds wouldn't know the word stethoscope.

^^^^. Speaking of hair products. I can't believe Bryan brought a hairdryer to Cambodia. Did these two grow up in a bubble? He didn't go to Cambodia to experience it, he took all the comforts of home! He went over there and acted like he was at the zoo.

Both good points. I forgot about 24 months and clothing sizes (my kid isn't here yet lol) and you're right that 6 months can make a big difference. She is pretty advanced for her age and I have no idea where she might have learned "stethoscope," but the point still remains that even when she was the age Ollie is now, she was actually talking...not just babbling/mumbling. Her parents and grandparents were actually teaching her things - we don't see that with B&M.fos13 wrote: for me i would say up to 24 months because that's what the clothing sizes go by. then it's toddler sizes. anything after that sounds ridiculous.

Re: BumsAlongTheWay part 18
Yup just these poor kids for him to look at for a few moments then move on and you know go look at cool stuff. The trips intentions where not genuine. He did almost nothing he said he would and spent 99% of the time being on vacation in stead of doing any kind of work. But since bryan brings almost zero skills to the table I don't really even see how he could help.HelloSweetie1 wrote:^^^^. Speaking of hair products. Any 2 year old that watches Doc McStuffins probably knows stethoscope!fos13 wrote:for me i would say up to 24 months because that's what the clothing sizes go by. then it's toddler sizes. anything after that sounds ridiculous.jodilo88 wrote:^ All babies grow at different rates, but Ollie is a year and a half old (I refuse to say months after a year unless it's like "18 months" which is a year and a half) and his speech or lack thereof alarms some people here. My first son sounds like your cousin. He was speaking in full sentences by the age of two. He might not have always said words properly, but he said them. We never did baby talk with him though, so I wonder if that made a difference? That, and his daddy traveled for work a lot, so it was just him and I. I talked to him tons! I think we saw from the vlogs that Missy talked to Ollie while Bryan was away, and he learned a new word! (Then again, it was Auntie, so I'm sure Cassie was the one that started it).
Kids do develop at different rates, and that's totally ok, but I really do think M&B just put Ollie in his playroom and leave him.

nope they don't really try to teach him. all they do is say yeaaaaahhhh or repeat back his baby talk.jodilo88 wrote:Both good points. Re: BumsAlongTheWay part 18
Well they've used the "hotel internet" excuse enough times by now, they really should have learned that's not an option if they want it up on time. Missy I guess just didn't care since the other late days weren't her fault.justarandomperson22 wrote:I'm surprised they haven't posted an excuse for the the vlog being late yet

Not to mention... Missy didn't travel for hours so she doesn't need extra rest. Why didn't she do the edit since the minions all say she's so good at it? Oh, wait...
