I don't know how I've never noticed it before but Cullen has enormous ears and now it's all I can see. Not even making fun of him, it's just the very first thing I noticed when he started talking and I was like oh.. what? Since when?

Re: Cullen and katie : Moving On Up. Part #10
I'm pretty sure they must be getting financial assistance from Katie's parents who are well off. I doubt they are getting rich off of youTube at this point. If their channel fizzles out eventually and the income drops they have to afford the overhead of maintaining their lifestyle. Since Katie does not want to go back to work they would not have that income to support their lifestyle without financial aid of her parents. I don't think Grandberry has great wealth to help them but you never know!HashtagBlessed wrote:My thoughts exactly. They bought this home for $640,000 and sold their previous home for $270,000. The repairs, maintenance, insurance, taxes, principal and interest every month on this home are going to be astronomical compared to what it looks like they're making on YouTube. Unless they are making the very top of their revenue estimates, or around $14K monthly after taxes and their network takes a cut.nc_mom wrote:The home they are moving into is really beautiful as is the property surrounding it. I'm curious why they are having such a major lifestyle change? Do they plan on having several more children? How will they keep the house in order? Their current house which is much smaller is always in a state of disarray and clutter. They have toys everywhere, laundry scattered on the floor, kitchen counter tops and sink always covered in food and dishes. The house always looked messy to me and even after they would do a video showing a major clean up the next day it was a mess again! I'm assuming they will hire a maid or cleaning service to maintain the new house. They may have "old money" from Katie's parents but honestly their lifestyle will undergo major changes. The property tax alone on the home is $650.00 monthly. One can only imagine what the mortgage payments will be since this home is over $400,000 more than what they sold their current home for. I'm wondering if this is not a classic case of keeping up with the Jones's (Kelly & Jay!).
If this home is in their price range, then the Mechams and the Lannings were very fiscally conservative with their recent home purchases. I would be surprised if that's the case. (Well, Ellie and Jared seem pretty money conscious, but Bryan and Missy do not.) Katie and Cullen couldn't afford this home in their previous careers. If they have a 15 or 30 year mortgage, what happens if YouTube fizzles out in 5 or 10 years and they have to return to work? I wonder if they are in way over their heads, or if they're bringing in a lot more money than anyone realizes and they're going to pay off this home quickly.

Re: Cullen and katie : Moving On Up. Part #10
You said it exactly as I would have, thank you! I distinctly heard Katie say that they love to entertain and this home is perfect for entertaining! There is a formal living room and dining room, and there is plenty of room for guests to flow into the family room and into the huge kitchen which sports a table and bar for nibbling and grouping together. The toy room, aka breakfast room, would be a lovely area for a photo booth for the evening. Also, people could flow outside onto the screened porch near the bar-b-que. I love it!Cgl33 wrote:I love the house and the layout. There's so much character. I think an open concept like E&J's is overrated and some say going out of style. When having a dinner party, it's nice to keep the kitchen mess or the caterers from the guests. There's plenty of room in the kitchen for people to gather if that's what they want.
Can anyone tell me where the stairs are on the ground floor? I couldn't tell from the tour or the pictures from the listing. Also, how is an ironing board on a timer? How does that work? What a great idea to have a place to do laundry upstairs and downstairs, brilliant! I don't care for the powder room in black, but the master bathroom is growing on me. The house suits them, I was taken by the cornice work and molding in the entry hall right away. It will eventually turn into their firever home and zi couldn't be happier for them!
Re: Cullen and katie : Moving On Up. Part #10
Apologies if this has been covered: The YT commenters are arguing that there is really only 2900 square feet of livable area because the massive unfinished basement makes up for almost half the square footage? Really? I've been in plenty of 3000 square foot homes and CK's looks way bigger. I would get tired walking across their kitchen...
I hope they paint in fairly light colors. Those huge rooms in dark purple or red would be ugly.

No, that square footage info is totally wrong. Square footage on listings, tax assessor card ect is ALWAYS based on finished square footage. Unfinished square footage does not count. Whatever the listing/tax card says is only finished space. The attic or unfinished basement would not count. And in most places (I know here in GA it's true) even finished basement space is not counted in total square footage Bc it's considered "below grade" (basically meaning underground). Most listings will have listed above grade square footage (anything above the basement) and below grade square footage. Below grade does NOT count towards "total living area". Sometimes they also split upper and main floors, but those would be added together for the total living area.OldHag wrote:Apologies if this has been covered: The YT commenters are arguing that there is really only 2900 square feet of livable area because the massive unfinished basement makes up for almost half the square footage? Re: Cullen and katie : Moving On Up. Part #10
The house is gorgeous! I love it! I think it fits their style and their family perfectly. I think people forget that they didn't grow up in Utah where you have houses like Ellie's mom's and E&J's cold stoic house where you're not allowed to touch Ellie's precious furniture. This house resembles Katie's parents and Kelley and Jay's. I don't think we've seen Grandberry's house? But you tend to get your tastes and styles from your upbringing which is why Katie chose this kind of house. I think once they update and change some things and put their own touch on it, it will be a beautiful home! It even looks better already without the old people furniture.

Kryptonite, a mod, came on and said PMing the house is against the rules and anyone caught would be permanently banned. I am sorry, but I suspect you can find it online with the information that came out about it on today's vlog and today's postings on the board.zipadeedodah wrote:Can anyone PM me the listing for the house? i'm curious what it looks like. I watched the house tour today but I'd like to see pictures too.

The bratty commenter who was insisting "no, its 2900 square feet lol" has since deleted her error.Playsinrain wrote:No, that square footage info is totally wrong. I like it. It's liveable and I agree - small changes here & there. I feel like they took jabs at E&J & B&M a few times though!

I just hope they don't get crazy with the paint colors.
Question for those of you more familiar with big rooms and high ceilings: once they get area rugs and furniture, are the echoes going to go away? Is it just echoing so badly because the house is empty? Sorry if that is a dumb question.

It is listed on several sites as 2627 sq ft. I don't believe it, but that is probably where they are getting it from. There's no way.

Anyone else have trouble watching their vlogs because of the way they vlog? I get motion sickness super easily and watching their almost always make nauseous.
