I had an anatomy class many yrs ago,and I'm pretty sure Alex means "coarctation of the aorta" when she says coarc. The aorta is an artery that supplies the heart w blood.I would think she could explain it better.
Yes,I couldn't believe she didn't know what Braxton-Hicks were,either!

Alex has only ever observed and read about pregnancies, she doesn’t have any first hand experience with it, so no, she doesn’t know what a braxton hicks feels like, which is understandable, I give her that. However with her background knowledge and being a NICU nurse it’s hard to take the “I have no idea, deer in the headlights” approach she seemed to have adapted, so she can come across more relatable. She knows 100% every single answer to every single throwaway question she posted on IG/YouTube. But that’s not cute and relatable. She god damn wants a cute pregnancy and people to fawn over her. She’s special, 7! No 8 years of infertility!! Don’t y’all remember?! she’s desperately trying to hold onto that feeling.
“Yeah, I know, I’m a nurse” just won’t cut it.

As a person who had a baby in the NICU for over 6 months, there are a lot of weird things going on here. Considering she worked in a NICU, she sure makes a lot of assumptions. NOTHING goes to plan there.
1. I'm pretty sure you only get to stay in the Ronald McDonald house if there is actually space. It is very possible that she will have to drive herself the hour or however far to that hospital every day. I met plenty of people in the NICU who had to drive three hours in some cases. Surely people who live far away would have priority over her, since she is somewhat local I'm guessing.
2. It sounds like she has already decided that she is going to leave the girls with Phil this entire time and just be with the new baby. Guess Phil won't be seeing the new baby much, and the girls will just have to struggle without her. I would have thought they would take turns at the hospital and being with the girls.
3. Making a decision on an epidural based on being able to see the baby right away is silly. Doesn't she remember seeing moms coming into the NICU 20-30 minutes after the delivery in a wheelchair? I haven't a clue why she has the idea she won't be allowed to see the baby for possibly 24 hours because of this.
4. If all she cares about is getting her skin-to-skin right away, she has a whole new reality coming to her. If something goes wrong, she might not hold that baby for a week. She must not have ever taken notice to any of the moms in her NICU making long drives and sitting there staring at their baby in the box for 12 hours at a time with no company, and no permission to hold the baby. If that poor baby does end up in the hospital for a month, I really don't know how she Is going to cope, because it is darn hard, and she won't be allowed to have the camera in there to record herself.

Re: Phil and Alex: clickbait, vlog’s late, & kids they don’t appreciate | Part 8
I have the feeling she wants it to be hard. She wants those heartbroken “we never got skin to skin” sobbing moments.
Her whole life is “hard”. It’s hard being infertile, it was hard to adopt, it was hard to sell her house, it was hard on the road in an RV, it’s a hard pregnancy... now they just have more drama to use to fuel their channel. “Baby girl in NICU. It’s so hard being the only ever infertile woman to have a sick baby. Woe is me”. *eyeroll*
It’s all just $$$ to them at this point. Otherwise they would be like every other family vlogger. The views would drop off once the baby wasn’t exciting anymore. A few family bloggers have mentioned it happens before the baby is a year old.

I feel the same as you, everything has to be a drama.Chatabox wrote:I have the feeling she wants it to be hard. She wants those heartbroken “we never got skin to skin” sobbing moments.

The way she acted about wanting skin to skin with Callie (I think it was Callie) was ridiculous, its going to be even more dramatic with the miracle bio child.
Are we all ready?
Have those girls got beds yet? I've got about 3 vlogs to catch up on.

She’s incredibly dumb (sorry for the harsh word but I literally don’t know another way to put it) and for a nurse she loves to fabricate situations that are founded on drama and not facts. Women are up walking 2-3 hours after an epidural is removed in most cases. Also as you stated even women who have had c-sections are able to see their NICU babies after several hours and are brought in wheelchairs etc. she is making assumptions to fit her own “woe is me” “my life is full of challenges” narrative. She needs to be going into this birth with the goal of bringing this baby into the world as safely as possible.

Yes,of course you are up after an epidural.I had 2 of them, and they have you go to the bathroom to make sure they don't need to cath you, which was as soon as I got back to my room

She said that the OB didn't necessarily see the corarc or whatever that was pinched before as looking problematic. They have to wait 2 weeks to see the cardiologist though to see if thats actually the caseRobinSparkles wrote:What was the good news from the high risk OB?

I’m a NICU mom as well. The epidural thing is a matter of hospital policy and will vary by facility. I had an emergency c-section at 36 weeks and my son’s lungs weren’t fully developed, so he went straight to NICU and I didn’t get to see him until the next morning. They wouldn’t let me go up there until I had the use of my legs back from the spinal block. I didn’t see my son until he was 17 hours old.
On another note, I saw on Instagram that she “FINALLY filmed a house tour!!!” No one cares, Alex.
I’m not looking to body shame her, but she looks awful. She’s probably gained 70 lbs. That’ll be hard to lose after the baby is born, especially if she’s living on fast food and cafeteria sandwiches for months in the hospital.

Nicu mama here as well.. I had an epidural and was able to go up to see her for about 5 minutes maybe 2-3 hours later and they brought me up there in my hospital bed they just wheeled it up there. I couldn’t go in and hold her until about 11 hours later. Regardless.. she seems to think everything is going to go to her plan. No mention of what if she needs a c-section? And she can barely handle a cold she’s not going to make it without an epidural.

Suggesting the diagnosis they already got could be wrong? That seems fishy!131618 wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 1:32 pmShe said that the OB didn't necessarily see the corarc or whatever that was pinched before as looking problematic. Or totally blown out of all proportion by them, there may well indeed be something wrong with the heart but, you know, Phil and Alex, views matter.RobinSparkles wrote:Suggesting the diagnosis they already got could be wrong? I don’t think it was blown out of proportion at all. She was originally diagnosed with two very serious heart defects, a coarct and AV canal.FlowersTar 68 wrote:Or totally blown out of all proportion by them, there may well indeed be something wrong with the heart but, you know, Phil and Alex, views matter.RobinSparkles wrote:Suggesting the diagnosis they already got could be wrong? The coarct was to require immediate surgery post birth while the AV canal reconstruction could be done at 4-6 months. The surgery post birth means potentially a month in the nicu as she could very well lose her suck swallow reflex and have to relearn how to feed and surgeries on that tiny of babies are extra traumatic. I can’t imagine them lying about an entire diagnosis and faking all these appointments...and it’s very serious in itself so I don’t think it was blown out of proportion.
I was more confused why Alex didn’t take the time to clarify exactly what the doctor was seeing in terms of the size/severity of the coarct. That would be my first question. But she did say the mfm doc didn’t have the best ultrasound (which seems odd to me..) and the cardiologist will get them better answers in two weeks. And she also explained the most important part, you never never how a heart baby is going to do until it is born.

I hope you are right, I was just wondering that's all, knowing their track record for elaborating the truth somewhat.Tiger27 wrote:I don’t think it was blown out of proportion at all. She's posted a 30-34 week bump date video, I belive she's 37 weeks tomorrow.
Why didn't she do a condensed video of 30- 36 weeks one just to be up to date.
