I actually don’t think it’s racist dressing her like that. White and black peoples dress like that. I think it just sad to perpetuate the myth that young males are thugs. Why do you want to portray a 1.5 yo as a thug with a gun. It’s just silly.

At this day politics is part of life. I don't understand people who prefer to not be interested in it or participate in it or think its too much to deal. Celebs do make a difference. Especially, between the ages of 18-24 who follow these youtubers will be influenced. It's weird people think it won't. Ask taylor swift lolMieke wrote:I personally are very interested in politics so I don't mind. But having celebrities and youtubers reminding people to go vote does help big time. How does a female toddler dressed as a robber perpetuate the (non existent) myth that young males are thugs??? What myth are youneven talking about? When have you ever been told “young males are thugs”?chloe6124 wrote:I actually don’t think it’s racist dressing her like that. White and black peoples dress like that. I agree. I don't care to know her political stance, but it would be nice to know that she has one. I was never into politics until I became a parent and realized the impact voting had on shaping the future for my kid. It's so important to be informed and vote. I don't see anything wrong with her encouraging her audience to do so (if of age) or setting a good example for the kids who watch her.Whateverumean wrote:Dying at the tweet below her rant asking them to vote on Nov 6th I wonder why youtubers don't feel the need to use their platform to encourage such things and bring about awareness unless its an ad(breast cancer month, urinary incontinence). They need not discuss their political view but bring about awareness.

She is though. that’s literally what the costume was supposed to be. How does “a thug” go with their costumes of FBI agent, police officer, and prisoner? It doesn’t even make sense. She’s a robber. They didn’t make a great costume, sure. But YOU are the one saying it’s offensive. So again, how? Is it that she looks “like a thug”? She isn’t a thug. Is it that you don’t like toy guns? Because you wouldn’t care if L had one.chloe6124 wrote:She isn’t dressed a robber.lilspooky wrote:How does a female toddler dressed as a robber perpetuate the (non existent) myth that young males are thugs??? I don’t have a problem with toy guns. If you don’t allow kids to have toy guns they will take anything and make a gun anyway. I have lots of toy guns and nerf guns at my house for the kids.
I just don’t see it as a robber costume.

Yeah she didn’t have to dress Alaya like that. She could’ve done an all black outfit and black beanies and a bag with the money sign or something. I do see something wrong with this costume and the gun. It was not cute or funnychloe6124 wrote:This. I don’t think they need meant harm. They are just naive and disconnected from the outside world. If she was going to be a robber put a ski mask or something with the toy gun. Personally thought it kind of cheap to dress Levi in a purchased outfit but just throw on some of Alaya's normal clothes with a huge chain probably from Kyra's closet..

No part of that costume would make you think "robber" if Kyra hadn't said that's what it was. It looks like a rapper/gangster costume, which paired with the cop can definitely send the wrong message considering the racial profiling that happens every day. I'm sure that's not what Kyra was going for (she dumb as rocks and doesn't know anything), but it's easy to see how some people would find it in bad taste.
Something like this would've been really cute: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com ... UX425_.jpg

I didn’t even think of the fact Levi was a cop. Your right that kind of makes it even worse.cat77 wrote:No part of that costume would make you think "robber" if Kyra hadn't said that's what it was. Re: OKBandaidBaby | Part 24
Exactly! When I saw this family picture I thought alaya was a rapper and I thought that was cute because that’s how rappers would dress in the 90’s. And then kyra messed up by saying she’s a robber??? Where do robbers dress like that? When you see someone robbing a bank they’re dressed like that?? No.cat77 wrote:No part of that costume would make you think "robber" if Kyra hadn't said that's what it was. Excellent point. Exhibit A of why Kyra should get more politically informed, to avoid a faux pas like this. Alaya is dressed like stereotypical 90's hip-hop culture which is not synonymous with robbery/criminals.cat77 wrote:No part of that costume would make you think "robber" if Kyra hadn't said that's what it was. I think people read into things too damn much and make a mountain out of a mole hill. I am sick of the whole politically correct argument. You could tell someone the sky was blue and someone would still argue that it it green. It was a Halloween costume on an innocent child. It was not done with malice or ill intent.

Kyra is on IG LIVE justifying her costume. This is how dumb she is. She says the gold chain was to represent gold like the robber stole the gold.

Re: OKBandaidBaby | Part 24
I get why you'd be offended by this, but I don't think you need to be. Nearly all of my friends and family, including my fiance, are or were in gangs. None of them would be offended by a kid dressed up as a gang banger. Shit, even my niece (who is black) dressed up as one this year. It's a cute and it fits the theme. At the end of the day it's just a costume. There is no need to get offended by it.cat77 wrote:Uh, considering the current climate between police and people of color, it's a little tone deaf for Kyra to make the kids be a cop and a "gangster"... she could have gotten Alaya a cute little jailbird outfit rather than a chain synonymous with black culture. It's hard to even hold her responsible though because she's truly just so dim and oblivious.
