Old appliances would never stop me from buying a house. I would rather pick my own out anyway.

Re: Cullen and Katie: Shifty eyes and constant lies | Part #25
Katie wants to control the conversation plus the call was only meant as an advertisement for their debt disaster vlogs. A mind of semi-colab, that's maybe also why DR was keeping them friends, now they will colab him in return. On the other hand it sounds like he got in defense because of the critique C&K were receiving before the show, he kind of overcompensated maybe.twinmama wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 12:49 pm That call was useless.
I guess we learned that they make 100k/year, the house is listed at 599k, they owe 547k on it. He didn't ask any additional questions about their lifestyle or expenses.
Does that 547k they owe on the house include the 50k HELOC they had to take out to get the loan? They're going to be lucky to get out from under that house.
I can't even imagine buying a 640k house only making 100k a year, with that much square footage. I'm surprised they even qualified for a loan.
They're in deep trouble. I wish they would have at least called in for general advice, rather than asking a very specific question.
They didn't get qualified for a loan but are renting to own with the former, real owner of the house.

I get what you mean, I'd want to pick my own appliances too.. but when the house is ALREADY very overpriced, it makes buyers less keen because they know they're still going to invest a few thousand to upgrade it. Whereas they can just go down the street (exaggerating) and get a home with newer upgrades for a lot less.chloe6124 wrote:Old appliances would never stop me from buying a house. This should have been the title of the show when C&K called in

In the new video every time Katie talked the camera cut to show her EXCEPT when she spoke about their income. Hmmm...I wonder why? Shifty eyes? Looked at Cullen for an answer?

I don't understand the need for such expensive shoes, wearing them to a theme park will just break them down quickly. As a kid my parents took me to Payless for Easter shoes and we also had season passes to Six Flags and would get shoes for there at Kmart. This is why they have money issues.WatchinTheWreck wrote:KM_90 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 29, 2020 7:51 pm Hi all! New here and first time poster. I wanted to chime in to say that, while I don't disagree with a lot that's been said here, I did want to point out that I'm pretty sure Gaines is wearing an Elsa costume from Frozen that she already owned to the Daddy Daughter dance. I also believe this was something their church hosted. I think she looks perfectly OK for the event. All the little girls tend to wear a little color on their lips or light make up for their special night. I think it's cute she decided to wear her Elsa dress when she was told to pick something she already owned.
Also, I think Katie mentioned that she was buying clothes for several trips or events they were attending last spring so I think she was likely buying things for all of them, and that may also explain why you don't see them in the clothes often. They tend to dress way casually for hanging out at home vs wearing their nicer clothing, and I can't say that I blame them. I do agree that the amount she spent was definitely excessive...especially for Kohl's. I can't for the life of me ever find more than 1 or 2 things I like when I go there. I feel like for the quality, their clothes are overpriced before any discounts or sales. They do have decent kids clothes though.
Ya, that is definitely an Elsa costume, which is cute. I have no problem with what Gaines is wearing. I think its sweet.
Katie did say she was shopping because she had lost weight, Easter and there Disney trip. She spent $125 for Easter shoes for the kids. That is excessive. I am all for buying quality shoes for the ones you were daily, like sneakers or a pair of sandals, but dress shoes for a specific holiday? Nope. I used to hit thrift shops, Target or Payless for holiday shoes I knew would only be worn once or twice. The cheaper the better. And I am all for fun Disney clothes, but when you don't have any money, nope. We have frequently visited Disney and I love having fun family shirts or outfits for my kiddo, but only if I have the cash. No cash, no shirts. Hell, no cash, no trip.

That's why the best thing they could do is lower the price drastically to $550k in my opinion. Be modest and accept the reality of your monstrous house. But certainly do not put any more money into the house. Katie has it all wrong. New appliances won't make the house more attractive, the house will still be an old house and the layout decentralized. The only thing that will make the house more attractive for buyers is lowering the price significantly to a price that is appropriate. The house doesn't have to change, YOU should change when the house doesn't sell. It only means one thing: it is too expensive.honeybear wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 4:19 pmI get what you mean, I'd want to pick my own appliances too.. but when the house is ALREADY very overpriced, it makes buyers less keen because they know they're still going to invest a few thousand to upgrade it. It reminds me of making cosmetics. If you made say a cream you don't like, a beginners mistake is to try to improve the cream by adding and wasting even more supplies. Don't. Just throw the damn creme away or give it away to a friend if it's only a matter of not liking the fragrance and she or he happens to like it. But you will never be able to "correct" the cream by wasting even more ingredients.

Re: Cullen and Katie: Shifty eyes and constant lies | Part #25
I don't think they explicitly said that they were setting aside $80 for alcohol alone, but they did say that they were bumping up the "fun" money to $80 this month to account for drinking. Which makes zero sense on multiple levels. People in their situation who are serious about getting out of debt don't have "fun" money set aside. And two parents pushing 40 don't need to prioritize booze for spring break. They aren't college students.
It felt like Dave was blaming the real estate agent without having enough information to give advice. If he had known about the price of other homes in the neighborhood, the fact that Katie and Cullen have been missing mortgage payments, or that they needed to take out multiple high interest loans in the first place to finance the purchase of the house, he might have come to a different conclusion.
He assumed that because Katie and Cullen overpaid for this house in 2017 without any updates, then of course another fool would come along and scoop this house up.He did admit that they are going to lose money on this sale, but Katie didn't seem to understand.
Katie explained it as they would "pause the debt snowball" (What debt snowball? They aren't even current on their bills, let alone throwing a substantial amount at debt.) in order to purchase new appliances. But they don't have anything left over at the end of the month? She conveniently left that part out. I agree that a $100k income (which I think they are exaggerating) doesn't support a $640,000 home purchase.
It felt like an opportunity to plug his real estate agent referral program. Maybe it's a good program, I have no idea, but I think that was the angle the producers were taking, since they exclusively talked about the sale of the home.

Re: Cullen and Katie: Shifty eyes and constant lies | Part #25
The house isn’t selling because they’re nasty, dirty people.
It has nothing to do with the appliances, dated decor, staging, small yard, etc.
It’s because that whole house stinks like cat piss.
Even just last week she was saying how they had to try yet another cat litter because one or both of the cats didn’t like it. Which means that one or both of the cats is just pissing and shitting wherever it wants.
When she was decluttering last year she whined about not being able to return a bag of clothing because one of the cats had pissed all over it.
They’ve been letting the animals use that house as a toilet for three years.
THAT’S why the house isn’t selling. Who the hell wants a half million dollar home that smells like stale pot, booze and cat piss?

That doesn't count sponsorships.hotcoffee wrote:And she said they make 100k a year LOL Social Blade says the highest they make is 61k. She's lying, you could tell to by the way she sounded too. She asks if they should pause the debt snowball and cashflow upgrades...what cashflow? You don't have a debt snowball Katie! The only money you've had for debt, besides the minimum payment, is money from selling items. Theres no cashflow there. - Side note, shouldn't the IRS debt have been included in the get current!??!
She says they've put a $20,000 master bath remodel in.
They owe $547,000 on the house according to Katie.
Dave definitely went easy on Katie.

Re: Cullen and Katie: Shifty eyes and constant lies | Part #25
Lol, I love it how he interrupted Katie and leaded the conversation, not something Katie experiences often at home. Also one time in the beginning he broke himself off and didn't ask her something, unfortunately, I wish he would have given her a normal DR, like he did with the first woman who called in, that was a normal and genuine conversation, in particular by the woman. How ironic he told the woman right before her to get debt-free ASAP, that is pay the car and credit card and rip the latter into pieces.
Katie was clearly lying about the $100k income and must have rounded it up. I also don't get how she gets to a debt of $82k while it was $103k or more. Does it mean the getting current of $13.7k was distracted plus they paid off debt of $5k - $8k towards their snowball?
DR clearly advised against renewing the appliances, but in second instance turned around and made it softer. Katie is stupid if she takes it as him approving.
I predicted she would ask a useless question, she doesn't want to show her true colors and wants to avoid being confronted with reality. She also mentioned this question vlogs ago in context of calling DR and referred to the question again in the last vlog before the call-in.
It's true, they didn't budget $80 for alcohol but for Fun. It could be more accurate here sometimes, not that details matter, but they do when they go lead an own life. Now that I'm at it , it's also not "they" who are thifting but Katie. And the first time Cullen witnessed Katie paying the church years ago, Cullen was like "excuse me, $200 for going to 1 church session??!!?%? Okay...??%@?"

Re: Cullen and Katie: Shifty eyes and constant lies | Part #25
Social Blade is an estimate. It doesn’t include sponsorships... no, but C&K have said they make an AVERAGE of $8k a month between the two of them. 12 x $8000= $94000.
They are in a debt crisis. Can we please stop trying to rationalize that they make more than we think? They haven’t dig themselves into an $100k in two two years just by overspending. They do no make enough to support their lifestyle.
Katie didn’t ask about the car because she already knew what he’d say, and how he’s say it. This is a clip from a show where a woman called in asking if they needed to cut out their $50/week horse lessons to help pay off their $16k owing on a travel trailer. They have a higher family income than C&K do, and he still treated them like the $16k debt was unreasonable and unacceptable.
Dave would have absolutely gone up one side of Katie and down the other over her $900/month vehicle payment and her “Fun” envelope and she knows it. She asked the safe question so she could try and get more traffic to the channel since it was already losing steam.

I found their house on Zillow and honestly their photos look awful (not all- the entrance, their bedrooms, and the bathroom are the only good photos) and the rest of the house looks cold and empty in my opinion. I wouldnt buy it either honestly and its not surprising they havent sold it. The other house listed on the same road 4 days ago looks so much better and more inviting. They need to clean up the outside too. Not a lot just freaking power wash it or something. It looks awful in the photos... and I think they should update the appliances. I dont think that would be a bad idea. I think they need to do a little more staging or something as well. It just looks so cold and empty and theres too much empty space. And as someone mentioned she sure didnt mention the car payment because she knew the answer. They deny getting real second jobs to knock out this massive debt. Theyve also got a few gold dated light fixtures and id get rid of those too. Compared to the other house listed on the same road their house looks pretty shitty.

Re: Cullen and Katie: Shifty eyes and constant lies | Part #25
I agree that they most likely make way less than 100k. Katie admitted a few videos ago that last summer they couldn't afford to pay themselves from the "business". They could have still been paying an editor and could have had more expenses for the business. But realistically their views were below 10k per video and it was taking a few days to get up to 10k. They said themselves you make more money the faster the views add up. They really don't so that many sponsors and Katie also said that when they would get a big sponsor they would put the money toward the credit card debt and then they would spend more.
I also think the house does most likely smell like cat piss. I have been to people's houses who neglect to clean their litter boxes daily and you can tell. Maybe that was the reasoning for baking brownies. Katie also mentioned Cullen was cooking on the screened porch to keep smells out of the house so it is likely they have gotten complaints regarding odor.
All katie does is lie through her teeth to keep up the facade of being so successful. She won't be able to hide a foreclosure so time will reveal all of the lies.

I don’t watch their stuff like I used to because at this point in the game I feel like they turn the camera on every time they get together to discuss their finances. Something tells me that otherwise they rarely speak to one another but that’s a whole other topic.
With their house it seems like they’re deciding to put it on and take it off of the market at all the wrong times. In my experience (I work in the real estate industry) houses sell in the spring and they have yet to have their home listed anywhere during that time which is peak time for real estate. It’s also telling to people when they view the home to see the house go on and off the market so frequently which can foreshadow people not wanting to purchase the home because then they don’t want to put themselves into a home they assume needed so much work to the point where it’s taken off the market so frequently.
Their house will sell. But this back and forth about should we keep it listed then take it off business isn’t good for their potential buyers. They have two brand new appliances in their kitchen so to say they want to put newer appliances in shows me that the spending habits of these two haven’t and probably won’t change. Talking to Dave Ramsey and seeing him as their guardian to give permission is another thing they’re doing wrong. It’s easy to ask someone whose made millions off the backs of those with financial issues whether or not they should do this or that to sell the house but at this point they know what they need to do and that’s go back to work.
If they read here my only advice to them being in the real estate field is to cash flow (not on a credit card but actually cash flow) some landscaping and end it there. If it doesn’t sell after that then there’s an issue they’re not telling their viewers because not every person running through that house to view it is saying they won’t buy it because the microwave is 4 years old. Most people investing that much money into a house has the money to spend on new appliances plus theY likely would want to pick the ones they want out themselves. I’m not saying everyone does this I’m just going off my experience having been in this field for almost 18 years now.

Double post but how do you find their house because I’ve not been able to find it. Please don’t post their address here but if someone wants to PM me then I’d be grateful.

100,000??? We make almost double that and would never buy a 70,000 car or 600,000 house. Even at 200,000 that’s not sustainable. They are so dumb.

OK so I just found their house and I think the listing photos look fine and they’re actually super appealing to me.
As far as the pricing of their house goes the comps in that area aren’t as low as they’re claiming on a few of their latest videos where they say homes are for sale but they’re lower in price.......yes true but they’re also half the house Katie and Cullen have. Their house is priced accordingly from what little I can see in that area on Zillow so the issue has to stem from something else that they’re not saying to their viewers.
Their yard in comparison to other homes big and small in that community does need some work but not a lot and not something you’d have to hire someone for.
There’s a bathroom that needs updating in their home more so than the need for new appliances. You can’t update one bathroom in such an extensive house and abandon the other bathrooms and leave dated as is. Something tells me that’s what’s killing most of their prospective buyers off.

My husband and I make double what they claim to make as well and we sustain our $660,000 home just fine but we also have a better mindset than these two where we have solid careers where our income doesn’t fluctuate and we don’t overspend like they’ve been doing for the better part of 5 or so years.13Cindersmella wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 4:57 am 100,000???
