Ok then she will find that out once goes through all his training but pretty much everyone in the beginning make it a bigger deal than it is.

Almost every military SO I've talked to (myself included in this) look back at their younger self and realized they made a bigger deal than they needed to.

Once again, he could get assigned to a unit that is shipping out in a couple months, so you really can't say that for sure. They may not have a need for them now, but he isn't done with training for a couple more months. Do we know the same military? Because the one I know sure does like to surprise people with upcoming events that are suddenly deemed mandatory.

He will attend basic for about 10 weeks and then probably go to an A school for training, or a tech school. After that, it's almost a normal civilian life. After those 10 weeks and training, he won't be missing many birthdays or holidays unless the Guard decides they need him, and they don't need anyone in reserves or Guard right now-- the demand isn't high right now.

He may be deployed once in his enlistment, or twice at most. Depending on his job, his demand may fluctuate, but this is no where comparable to enlisted active.

Again...


With enlisted active, you are almost ALWAYS guaranteed a deployment shortly out of training. This was my only point. I just think Lindsey should take each day and week once at a time and not lose much sleep over this. The first birthday or holiday he misses will suck, but it does get better and then suddenly the reunions are the birthdays and holidays.

I don't care if he is deployed never or the whole time he is signed, but for their sake, it can't be his only job.

Someone made a comment that she "knows all about the military life from watching Army Wives." My reply to that was that everyone handles things differently. Some wives don't want their husband to leave on a business trip, and some don't want them to leave for two years, but I have never said one was more than the other, lol.

That was my point to drop. I am in agreement with you, as I saw your post earlier, about how people shouldn't be so hard on the fact that he is joining the Guard. Like I have said, and I will say this until I am blue in the face, this can't be his only source of income. It won't support her and her children.

I fully support anyone making that decision and sacrifice. The military gives you a trade or some type of training that might not be attainable in the real world. Same goes for Alex. He is obviously going to learn some type of trade while in training (AIT or tech or what have you).

It's okay. Maybe you are like me in the sense that sometimes I get annoyed by other military wives and just lump them into the same stereotype, as I get really annoyed by wives that wear their husband's ranks as well as wives that have nothing going for themselves, lol.
