Tbh I've been worried about that hearth since they moved in lmao, it's massive, and right in a spot where a kid could easily fall and hit their head somehow. Kids are resilient but concussions and head injuries are no joke! Being a little kid only gets you so far when you're hitting your head on something like that.
Rachelle was pointing out that it's solid brick (in her incoherent english) "this thing is a brick, little, hearth" *slapping it*... so it'd be bad to hit with your head. And Justin, the fuckin idiot that he is, goes "it's like, not sharp though." And Rachelle says "it's not but even if she'd bonked her head on it-" and Justin says "it'd hurt, big time, it'd hurt big time."
Like, is he literally saying it'd just hurt and doesn't have the potential to actually be serious? I mean getting hurt is a normal part of childhood obviously but a bad concussion can change you forever. There's a difference. And when you hit your head on something, it's only a small part of your head that makes contact so it's still a sharp impact, and your head skin is thin so splits easily. Head wounds also bleed a lot. Doesn't have to be sharp to do a lot of damage, how do you think people die just from hitting their head when falling on concrete? iT's NOt shArP tHoUGhhhhh
Why is he trying to play off this hypothetical scenario like it's no big deal? He's the one who has non-stop bragged about how OVERPROTECTIVE he is and how he's SO SENSITIVE and SUCH A GOOD DAD. He was still holding Emma's hand going down the slide when she was big enough to go by herself. Now he's trying to play it all cool and play down the danger of a young kids head flying full speed into a huge brick heath? Bro.
Also love how Rachelle repeatedly congratulated herself on not making a big deal out of it while making a big deal out of it. Lmao. Though I gotta say I'm glad she's teaching Emma that the hearth isn't for fucking around on. Emma's got other shit she can do that's still exciting and challenging, there's no need to turn that hearth into a jungle gym.
They easy solution would have been covering that edge with a foam protector 10 min after they moved in...but no, it would ruin her picture perfect design
And their bickering is so annoying but they don't seem to notice it. They are always trying to correct one another, it became a norm. The other time they argued about what crawling is, the day the got the keys vs moved in to the house, and now this.

It’s okay, even if they cover it in foam Emma can just climb her pikler triangle and accidentally hurt herself jumping off it. Maybe she should supervise all these kids of hers instead of letting them get into dangerous situations in the first place.
She did this on Friday and I forgot to post about it....

Baby gear 101 is that you NEVER put a lounger like this anywhere other than the floor. Especially now that the boys are rolling. It only takes a second and one of them could have rolled off onto the counter or even worse the floor. (I know people do this all the time but parents should seriously know better, I always see people posting pictures of their babies hanging half way out of swings, it was time to come out of those a looooong time ago)
Are we just going to ignore the fact that she just puts her children in dangerous situations on her own all the time? From the chair rope swing in Emma’s room to the drop down play area, to putting the boys on the counter in their loungers, this house is a children’s hazard all waiting to happen.
I can’t believe she pats herself on the back for doing such an AMAZING job handling that situation with Emma but then does this shit like the day before or after.
