So now we know the real reason for Rachelle pushing Emma out of the crib and rushing to finish the boys nursery. She wants to sleep train them at 5.5 months. I have no problem with sleep training, I actually love the program that they used with Emma, I know it’s a big debate though.
But it was a waste of money to get the snoos then because she could’ve spent waaaaay less just buying Caras newborn no cry course and the boys wouldn’t have to transition out of a snooo and would already have good sleep habits. They are napping terrible in the cribs cause she got them used to the snoo

Am I the only one that didn’t push sleep on my babies? Like I went with their flow and tried to help them and figure out what was the best way for them to sleep but I definitely didn’t purchase thousand of dollars worth of equipment in hopes my kids would sleep more..my daughter slept through the night at 2 months on.. and my son took until he was about 6 months but still needed one bottle before I went to bed and he would go right back to sleep. Then at 9 months I took away the bottle and he didn’t even care and slept 12 hours. They are doing a LOT of comparing with Emma and it’s so toxic for them .. let those kids have their own independence.. they are so different from Emma and it’s FINE! If they don’t sleep well and aren’t comfortable I mean me as a mother I would have figured out the intolerance much sooner than she did. She’s talking about going through a sleep program? I get you have to teach your babies sleep habits but it’s OKAY if some babies are good sleepers and some aren’t. Knowing if my babies had an intolerance and possibility reflux I wouldn’t let them cry it out or do a regimented sleep program because they need extra comfort and attention to get through whatever they have going on. It’s not the end of the world. Suck it up, have some coffee and soak in the journey of motherhood .. this is what it’s about. It’s not cute Instagram themes and bullshit.. it’s real life, stop complaining. It bothers me because she’s been pushing sleep habits since they were WEEKS old.. like she is bat shit crazy for that.

I agree with this. I agree with sleep programs and sleep trainings if you know your baby. I think rachelle just wants them to sleep I don’t think she understands their hunger cries, attention cries, uncomfortable cries. So I don’t think it would be a good idea for the boys until they are fully off the lactose. When I posted before about the sleep training I actually did a program for my son because I felt like he needed it and it worked. I still listened to him and fed him again before I went to sleep other wise he would wake up in the middle of the night with a hunger cry. You just have to adapt to your child’s needs and for rachelle it’s the other way around. She can’t adapt so she’s going to every possible length to get them to sleep. It’s sad.

Okay so I know this is about to get personal, but honestly you’re VERY lucky to have good sleepers then. Most people struggle with MULTIPLE wake ups for at least the first 5 months before seeking sleep help. I have friends with babies that only woke up 1-2 times from birth and never needed sleep help, then there was my child that woke up every 2 hours since birth crying and screaming for an hour. She did that for 5 months. I cut out dairy, caffeine, eggs, soy, gluten from 6 weeks old when I found out the intolerances. Yet she just kept waking and screaming. So guess what, at 5 months, I finally found help. She wasn’t even eating in the middle of the night at that point, she refused if. It took ONE night to teach her to sleep through the night. One night of crying. She just needed to be taught. I know a few more mothers with similar babies that sought help like me. That’s why I found a sleep program.

Back to Rash.

Emma was sleeping great from birth and then hit the 4 month sleep regression. Rash complained that Emma woke up about 2-3 times a night for a month would eat and go back to sleep, of course rash couldn’t handle those easy wake ups and just riding through a small regression, so she looked to sleep training. The boys were sleeping “bad” at the beginning (3-4 wake ups for each baby, makes for a hard night). So she bought the snoos because she needed sleep and then figured that she’d use that sleep training at 5 months in order to get the boys to be a great sleeper like Emma.
Honestly Emma is only a good sleeper still because she doesn’t talk or understand much. If Emma could communicate her needs more, they probably wouldn’t Lock her in her room or let her cry after 1 yrs old without answering her. But because she can’t communicate her needs and isn’t potty trained, they treat her like a baby when it comes to sleep and just ignore all her cries, hence a good sleeping Emma, even in a toddler bed.

Yes exactly!! She doesn’t want to deal with any sort of crying from 7pm to 7am and she doesn’t seem to ever respond to their cries or even mention their “hunger” or “sleep” cries. She just has the babies on a schedule like robots. Those are the type of people who have struggles when they sleep train, because they don’t follow their babies cues. Rash lost her milk supply during Emma’s regression and after sleep training because she cut out all of Emma’s night feeds and didn’t respond to Emma’s growth spurt at 4 months by feeding her more. Instead she kept Emma on her schedule of every 3 hours feeding 10 minutes (just a guess), and so Emma didn’t get those extra calories she needed and rash’s supply didn’t meet Emma’s demand, hence the supply loss.

I never pushed sleep on my babies either. My daughter slept 8 hours at 6 weeks. My son on the other hand didn’t sleep through the night until he was 9 months old. I didn’t do anything different with him that I did with her. I just learned to live with not getting much sleep because I was a mother and it was my job!
I don’t think Rash gives those boys enough to eat. She has them on a schedule instead of going by their cues. She said they are in the 1st percentile that’s probably why.

I honestly put a lot of value into having good nap habits during the day that follow onto nights.

Having a good routine (sleep, change, feed, play, feed) during the day is so key to having a baby that sleeps well at night. If you get the day naps and routine down then nights follow easily.

If a baby is waking 15-20 minutes after you put them down - are they wet/dirty? are they hungry? are they cold/warm/hot? is something bothering them - clothing tags, scratchy bedding? have they spat up?

You fix everything and try again, you don’t automatically write off that nap, doing so gives you a far crabbier tired baby for the next nap.

Which is clearly far harder to do with twins - she will end up with them on different schedules

Highlights of latest vlog: Our new house NIGHTMARE (we don’t have a choice)

Well first off, it’s not a new house, it’s an old build with new-ish remodels and second, you guys have lived there for a year. That doesn’t make it new.
—————
Rachelle started the vlog by forcing the boys down for a nap in their new room followed by talking about unsafe sleep practices (???) To be honest, this whole pet confused me, I watched it twice and could understand what she was saying because she kept repeating and contradicting herself.

By the sound of it here she said she didn’t put Asher(?) on his back and that he likes to sleep on our stomach. I know you gotta do what you gotta do to get your baby to sleep but the sleep campaign “back to sleep, tummy to play” was made to prevent SIDS. So there is the first unsafe thing in this vlog.
—————
Next she adjusts her ugly bun while talking about the hazards- I mean decorations she wants to add to the boys room. Rug, wall art and she FiNaLlY found something to go above the boys cribs! Ah ha! Safety hazard number two and we are barley three minutes into the vlog. A quick google search will tell you how unsafe it is to hang things above a babies crib from mobiles to hap hazardously hung photos or name plates. Second unsafe practice in this vlog

—————
Next Justin goes outside to their cliff desert of a front yard and talks about their septic system backing up into their garage sink and.... Image.... KITCHEN SINK. Okay, we have seen bottles from the boys just hanging out in there in the past, they bathe the boys in the kitchen sink, they let dished pile up in the sink. I truly hope they disinfected that sink and anything in it after the back up. I’m not a plumber but I would think that could introduce some NASTY bacteria. I pray to god they sterilize the boys bottles in boiling water or a sterilizer. Here folks is safety hazard number three.

Sounds like they have some expensive house maintenance to look after. Hope these idiots think their money pit was worth it.
Also, planner or planter. You have said both and interchanged both...? Wth are you smoking buddy.
—————
Up next we have Rachelle making incoherent sounds at the boys. Baby laughs are cute though. And did we see this coming? MORE SAFTEY HAZARDS! These boys lack a lot of the necessary head control you need for one of these bouncer/ exersauser toys.

If you have to prop up your babies head and shove in that many blankets to make it work, news flash, they should not be in it! Justin holding his head up just shows they lack that head control and later Rachelle says they can hold their heads well. Right. Remember when she was dancing holding Emma around Christmas and shook her side to side quickly? Yeah babies don’t have the great head control at that age and shouldn’t be wiped around like that. Always rushing milestones, you can just enjoy your babies as they are huh guys?
—————
Oneth percentile. Really.
I know that all babies grow on their own curve but I hope they’re getting enough milk and Rachelle had a proper breastfeeding plan and is working with an IBCLC to make sure she is still feeding those boys well since she started losing her supply here with Emma.

Also Netflix on in the background. Their flipping TV is always on. We know the couch potatoe Swannies are always on the couches doing nothing. Poor Emma’s brain is just melting watching that all the time. And the boys too since there is no one there playing with or interacting with them.
—————
This part in the kitchen was kinda cute. You can kinda tell Emma’s speech is coming along but I feel like she regresses very often too. It was nice to see them interacting as a family for once. But there’s a part of me that says it’s not usually like this and they are just putting on a show for the camera or else this would be a part of the vlog all the time. This would have been a great point to talk about what you’re making for dinner, stuff like that. You know, adding actual substance to the vlog, but alas.

Why does it look like Rachelle is about to eat Emma here? Lol
—————
End of the vlog.
Justine is putting Emma down for bed and Rachelle is complaining about how her precious miracle newborn babies are too clingy to her and that Justin needs to figure out how to put the boys down.

She continued talking about how bad the boys naps were. And that they are going to do the same sleep program they did for Emma. AKA, sleep training a la Taking Cara Babies, AKA cry it out and ignore your babies cries. (Sorry if you sleep trained, just talking about Rash here) News flash AGAIN, that’s how you lost your milk supply with Emma. It’s very common for people who sleep train to lose their milk since they aren’t removing milk from their breast for extended periods of time. Bye bye breastfeeding twins.
—————
Before ending the vlog she was talking about how her sister whom it doesn’t seem like she’s seen since maybe she was pregnant or maybe before that, is coming to “watch the boys” no to visit or meet them for the first time. She is coming in a couple weeks to watch the boys so they can go on a date night. Nice. Haven’t seen your sister in like a year? And now your making her watch your kids. What a nice sister you are Trashy!
I can’t stand when people, especially people who went through IVF, want a family and children so bad and then complain about how much work it is having kids. Like no shit it’s what you sign up for when you are a parent. I know everyone needs a break but she’s coming off really entitled to me. People would give anything to have what you have and here you are complaining about your precious miracles.

And that’s the end!
Not really anything special or exciting.
I don’t know if I’ll do more of these, it took me almost an hour off and on and I usually don’t watch their videos all the way through anymore. Idk if it was a waste of time or if it’ll be helpful for anyone but it was nice to break down all my thoughts about the video lol!

Is nobody going to talk about how incredibly AWKWARD this was between the two of them? They do not love each other anymore. Once she looked at Justin they looked like they were about to kiss but realized they didn’t want that and she lowered her forehead.

Having the septic tank pumped is only a few hundred. I’m in the same area as her. If they needed it replaced it would be in the thousands, but I think my boyfriend said when they had his dads replaced it was 5,00

Please carry on doing these! This was excellent and means I don’t have to watch the vlogs at all (I have not watched one for months). Really well done and entertaining ImageImageImage

Re: Rash and Justine - Life’s a slog, with nothing to vlog | Part 30

I think when it comes to sleep training, every child is different. Even within 1 family, one child may sleep through the night early and another may need some intervention and training.

I think when it comes to these 2, sleep training sounds ridiculous because they are both home.... 24/7. Literally they don't leave the house unless they need to which is probably for groceries. What family is lucky enough to have both parents at home and not tied to regular 9-5 jobs. Justin's classes are online and in case of an emergency he can pause his class and help rash. She films what, a few moments of their day and then edits it into a 15 minute video every other day? Sure they have a toddler but even Emma doesn't seem like a super hugh energy, high maintenance kid. My son is 15 months and always on the go. I was at the park last week and saw a 2 year old and he was INSANE! The kid was sprinting constantly and his poor mom had a few month old baby and she had to keep up with her son. He wasn't wild or bad, just so high energy and hyper. I know my son will be like that next year. I've never seen Emma with that amount of energy ever. Maybe because she's home all the time and she just doesn't expend that much energy so she seems low key.

So if you really put their day to day lives into context, sleep training just seems so unnecessary.

Did they buy through VA? A septic appraisal is required and an inspection is required by California law. They probably just had a crappy appraiser/inspector

They're going to mess up those babies hips with that thing. They're supposed to be able to touch the bottom to use it.

Justin: “i don’t know anything about septic”

So you bought a house.. with septic...

Idk. Might just be that i have common sense, but if you’re buying a home that has something you don’t know much about, wouldn’t you educate yourself on that before or after moving in?
