Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
Haven't watched yet, but from what you guys are mentioning... It makes me think of the throwback video Ruby crying about her grandmas sweet reaction to some cheapie bracelet she bought at a fair or something and she was really
nervous that her parents would give her shit about wasting her money on it. But her grandma made her feel so special and was really sweet about it. I wish I knew what the video was called... It was the first one I watched of Rubys and thought she was freaking weird and on the brink of meltdown.

It's so funny I go back and forth between really disliking ruby and her parenting and then like today I'm watching the vlog and I can at least appreciate that she created her own vlogging style, it's nice not watching the same Ellie and Jared vlogging overly excited lets just talk about what we did and not show kinda thing lol

Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
I have mixed feelings about Ruby too. I generally like her vlogs because they aren't all superficial bullshit, though I don't always like what I see. It often looks like she is going to have a breakdown and the vlog gives her an opportunity to express what is meaningful to her. I actually do think Kevin was her real life prince from a warm family. I wonder if it ever occurred to Jennifer that casting Ruby as Cinderella put her in the role of evil stepmother?gymchick43 wrote:It's so funny I go back and forth between really disliking ruby and her parenting and then like today I'm watching the vlog and I can at least appreciate that she created her own vlogging style, it's nice not watching the same Ellie and Jared vlogging overly excited lets just talk about what we did and not show kinda thing lol

Why tell the doctor he is an handsome man? Are these what qualities she respects?
Why not say what a good doctor he is?

Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
Does anyone else find it weird that some of the kids don't seem to have sheets on their beds? Russell and Chads beds both only have mattress protectors- no sheets on top. I mean, I get that Ruby could've just been washing them... But I've seen the boys beds a couple other times without sheets either.

As a mother of a bed wetter, someone would probably wonder that at my house too! I have no idea if her boys have that issue or not though.izzythecat wrote:Does anyone else find it weird that some of the kids don't seem to have sheets on their beds? I'm excited to see Shari get her braces off. That is such an awkward age. I've noticed her skin is struggling, I hope ruby is helping her/getting her the dermatological help she needs. I've noticed ruby and Shari don't seem to wear any makeup on their skin.

Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
Her sponsored posts crack me up. In one blog Chad literally sat in Eve's poo. Please tell me that is not common when toilet training...that scares me off having kids. I presume it happened because she is so busy with 6 kids.
I think some of her kids thrive under her style of parenting and some really suffer. The problem is she doesn't alter the way she acts based on their personalities. Someone pointed out that poor Julie's reaction (it was either to the stuffed animal or piggy bank incident) was the same as Ruby's own reaction to the bracelet gift and said that they were very similar. Ruby said she was absolutely right.
But if she knows this and knows how sensitive Julie is then why make her suffer like that? What she said and did would have been fine with Chad or Eve's personality but is so not right for Julie. I guess that is what happens when you have 6 kids. Abby and Julie really suffer because they're not old enough to be a big help (Shari), troublesome enough to need extra guidance (Chad) struggling physically (Russel) or still a baby really (Eve). They get left to themselves and rely on each other because of the birth order and the fact they're girls.

I can't believe she just laughed at Chad having his teeth ripped out. Why not give him some caring encouraging words. That poor kid

Ruby's hair looks really good. Made her look younger

Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
I thought it was interesting how she said they stopped gift giving with each other because they had problems with it and that's she's not the best gift giver.
Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
Isn't that the same "I want to talk to your manager" haircut Julie has?
It makes her look younger because she is quite young, the other one was making her look old.

I just went and watched the vlog. I do the exact same thing when I'm hurt or upset.kaylnoel wrote:Jeez. Julie's face totally fell and Ruby's tone totally changed when asking where she got the money. That made me so sad! It's a good cause and it's from Julie's piggy bank... not like she stole it off someone.
Ruby said it was about $5 in the comments and "no biggie" but she wanted to make sure it wasn't Julie's siblings savings. But she kept badgering Julie even after Julie said it was from her own piggy bank. Ruby seems so controlling.

As soon as she put her head down, she had absolutely shut down. She didn't even look up again after that. So sad. I felt my face get hot for her because I know how she was feeling.

That was terrible! It looked like he had his hand up to be held by his mom, but she just swatted it away.Mallabow wrote:I can't believe she just laughed at Chad having his teeth ripped out. Why not give him some caring encouraging words. That poor kid

I know it was a baby tooth that was pulled, but I can't imagine how bad that would hurt.
Personal but relevant: I once had a tooth drilled on for only 10 seconds without novacaine and I will never forget that pain. My mom was okay with it so I figured I would be fine, but I was not fine.

Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
personal: I had 19 of my 21 (including wisdom teeth) baby teeth pulled. It's never pleasant. It always hurts. I bit clean through my lip once wen my mouth was nummed. My parents were never in the room but I can imagine wanting to hold someone's hand if it was available.winniewise wrote:That was terrible! Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
I appreciate that Shari cooked dinner but macaroni and cheese and broccoli is not a meal in my opinion. Those are side dishes at my house. I would consider it a meal if it had a piece of chicken or steak or even a slice of meatloaf with it. Also, bravo to Ruby for covering Eve's naked chest when it was showing.

Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
So when Ruby told Eve she needed to go change and Eve said "no, I don't think so..." I'm wondering if Ruby cut into the next scene because she told the older kids they shouldn't laugh when Eve talks back, and didn't actually discipline Eve because Eve was wearing the outfit later on. I feel like Ruby gets on the older kids case from Eve's bad behavior. Just a random thought.

Re: 8 Passengers: Part One
Why wouldn't Ruby go and meet Kevin in Hawaii? If I was a SAHM of six kids and my hubby was taking selfies from a beach in Hawaii, I'd be upset.
