Seems like she just gets handed the shit end of the stick most of the time when she tries. But that's really shitty situation if the school lied about being credited when it wasn't, sounds like Britney's school; pay huge expenses and receive bogus certificates.

I think Haylee is the complete opposite of Vanessa. She's been going to school, that requires an hour and a half bus ride each way, for the last year. Why? Because she wanted a better life for Hazzel. She worked part time (so she could work and go to school), but now full time since the school fiasco. She doesn't use not having a car as an excuse to not get things done. She's saving up for a car now to go back to school because the only school that will accept a few of her credits is a 3 hour bus ride away. Hardly an excuse.

She should have researched the school better...but that still sucks. The information is freely available online. I'm sure the school web site does not say the school is accredited, and if it does, then she can legally take action against them. But I'm sure somewhere on the web site it reveals that the school is non-accredited. That should be the first thing you look at when looking at degree programs, but she is pretty young and inexperienced and I'm surprised one of her parents didn't research it as well. Non-accredited schools are degree mills. They will give "degrees" or certificates to any student for money. Why anyone would waste their time teaching at one is what I can't comprehend. I guess they attract desperate failed academics?

Have you guys ever seen the fake commercials that are like, "get off your butt and call today!" and "I make enough to support my whole family now!"? They often play during Maury and Jerry Springer. Sadly, the schools aren't illegal. Where I live, the most popular "school" is called Everest. Typically it's 9 months and then you "graduate" with a certificate. My friend did dental assisting at Everest and it was around $20k.

Also, had Haylee done some research, she wouldn't be in this predicament. I'm sure there's hundreds of complaints online about the school.

Most of those online schools are BS I almost got caught up in Lorenzo High online school, thank the Lord I went with Penn Foster instead!.
