And take all six kids with her. They are too frugal for that.

As long as she will be fertile and have tons of kids it will be fine.
At the end of the day being a mother is a woman's greatest achievement.

The souvenir-giving part of the vlog bothered me. It seemed like everyone got a keychain and one extra thing, except for Julie. I think she only got a key chain. And Shari got two extra things- a figurine and a book. How is that fair? When I buy gifts for the kids in my family, I make sure it is all the same or of similar value. If not, there are issues. I'm hoping Kevin got Julie something else besides the keychain, but I know how they operate so I wouldn't put it past them to treat some of the kids better than the others.

Ruby wrote in the comments that she had to cut out the part where Julie got her gift because her thumb was on the microphone. I don't think Kevin would get all 5 of the other kids a gift and not get Julie one.

I’m horrified by what she said in the vlog about why Kevin lost weight in Japan. Of all the xenophobic ignorant things to say! She said that he told her he has lost 8 pounds because all he was offered to eat was raw dog and horse.
1- Japanese DO NOT eat dog; they haven’t for hundreds, if not thousands of years. If she had done even the most cursory google she would have seen that
2- Horse meat is eaten, it’s given to respected guests but it’s not an everyday food at all. If he was offered it then he was being honoured.
3- There is no way that horse was the only thing available for one meal, let alone the whole trip like she implied. Any Japanese person would be horrified to think that their guest had gone away hungry, let alone lost weight.

I’m inclined to think Kevin didn’t even say it, he is an intelligent man, well travelled man and he had an interpreter. He probably rang Ruby and said something like “Hey honey, all well, lost some weight though, food here is a bit weird, they even offered me raw horse! Haha” and she reworded it to make it interesting. Well, Ruby it’s not interesting or funny at all. Yes I’m being overly sensitive, because I live in Japan but still... I can’t stand this kind of ‘eww those weirdo people with their weirdo food’ attitude. This is why Americans have a bad reputation overseas and why people think that Americans don’t travel.

On the intelligence of Kevin note. I really hope that because of him, the girls don’t get pushed into marriage and motherhood early. It seems clear to me that he encourages Shari to read and learn a lot at the moment. At the least, even if she went on a mission (to her beloved Germany?) she would get a lot out of it.

On another note. I just watched a vlog where they went to a dino park. Poor Julie was in hysterics thinking there were real dinosaurs there. Ruby filmed her for so long, without once reassuring her and telling her that dinosaurs are extinct. Presumably she thought it was funny, but all I wanted to do was hug her, you could see she was truly scared. She also lingered on Abby who was the only one who didn’t get icecream. I’m sure there’s a reason like she didn’t want it or something but Ruby answered lots of questions in the comments but skipped all the ones asking about the icecream, as if to create controversy.

In one of the homeschooling videos Ruby told Chad that there are no Mormon temples in China because they don't have religious freedom of something ignorant and wrong like that.

I have been to China and my parents ate dog. I ate donkey and it was delicious. The wired thing is that they do not have just one dish when they eat there is a variety of dishes I can't image all being dog or horse. What is wrong with trying local food? If they eat it it must be comestibile.
I tend to believe they are the kind of people that when they visit a foreign country they go to a restaurant and order a burger or just McDonald's.

I thought the comment about raw dog was very ignorant and rude. At 6:55 in the vlog "Lawn Mowing GEEK!", Kevin makes a comment about how he's happy to be home because the food is not raw anymore. What is that supposed to mean? There is plenty of cooked foods, like ramen, soups, rice dishes, etc. he could have eaten in Japan. All he had to do was google it. But I get a vibe from him and Ruby that anything outside their comfort zone is "weird".

Vincere, yup they do eat dog in China but what annoyed me most is that Ruby seems to think ‘Asia’ is country and everyone there eats and acts the same way. If she’s going to home school then she needs to educate herself first.

And I have never seen her apologize for anything in the comments. So uppity.

Sarai, exactly. I would love to see them do an international food night once a week or something. Wouldn’t that be amazingly educational for the kids? Instead anything non American is weird. She even made comments similar to that in New Zealand! Reminds me of the recent Jill and Jessa Duggar episode which said they had never eaten Indian food. Ruby is so cheap ; making indian food at home would be perfect for, it’s so low cost.

Oldhag, I wondered too. The dad had what looked like an oxygen tube too. The must have had Kevin later in life, they look older than Ruby’s parents. How unfortunate to both be ill, I hope they have other family nearby.

Someone asked in the comments if his mom was bedridden and Ruby replied and said no she's fine and they just caught her watching TV in bed or something like that.

As much as I find Kevin to be smart and sexy, and I am repulsed by cheaters, if there is one YT couple where I would suspect someone to cheat, it's Kevin. He appears to love his kids, but just seems so checked out of his marriage.

God. Can't Ruby just respect her kids' privacy? I don't think it needs to be announced that Abbey and Chad are just starting puberty. Yes, it is a normal part of life, but you can tell her kids are uncomfortable when she shoves the camera in their face and talks to them about it. I wasn't expecting the whole vlog to be about puberty, but alas it was. Jeez.

I thought the same. I would be so embarrassed if my mom made a whole vlog dedicated to me getting my first zit! There was literally no other content today other than them talking about puberty!

They remind me of the Duggars, who would travel on their show and make faces at food that wasn't tater tot casserole or pickles.

Ruby strikes me as not a very sexual person. I'm sure having too many kids and being tired is part of it. Actually most of the Griffiths give me the impression they aren't having lots of fun in the bedroom. ;)

Maybe she's figuring out that most of her audience is about 12. Have any of the young "fans" made their way over here?
