Re: This Is How We Buy Stuff, Baby | This Is How We Bingham | Part 5
The funniest part (besides the only descriptive word Mindy knows being "sweet") of the TIHWB "about us" is that they describe the religious between Mindy and Madi as "flawless". NO relationship is "flawless", even the best ones. And I certainly wouldn't describe Mindy and Madi's as flawless. Mindy imposes her will, and Madi is a good sport.
I wonder if Mindy is such a control freak about clothes and hair, and decor, because those are the areas she is allowed to control? They seem to have things pretty well divided along traditional gender roles in that household. The whole "I have to be home in the morning to do Hazy's hair" bit is so bizarre.

Garments are for members of the Mormon church who have been endowed. They’re very secretive of it unlike any other religion. You can find videos of it on YouTube though from people who snuck cameras in. You don’t have to wear them when you work out or go swimming although the people who are more in to the religion, older members or more modest members do wear modest swim wear and work out gear that covers the shoulders and thighs. If you watch videos of brandens parents swimming or Brit’s parents in Jared and Brits vlog then you’ll see they wear clothes in the pool or very modest special swimwear.yellowbowl wrote:i'm curious about this as well, it's not something i'm familiar with or know about, so not trying to be disrespectul.blessedunrest wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 6:56 amSo you wear a bra/panties then the temple garment? They call it a "Temple Garment", and from what I've found online, they're not be shown to seen publicly. So, I wouldn't have thought that Mindy would be comfortable with her instastories showing them, but I guess if it's all in the name of making money, then who cares!
i'm surprised that mindy wears the garments, though? she has never come across as modest to me. not that she shows a lot of skin or anything, but she is shown in her bathing suit and pajamas often. plus i can't imagine they are comfortable for running.
interesting point made my ms0926. it's not like she benefits every day from the home they are able to afford through youtube. i hope they give her some sort of allowance because she is a saint when it comes to her family. i can't imagine the patience.
I would say they can do what they please and it’s their religion but the truth is Mormonism is similar to Scientology in the way it’s an exclusive cult-like membership where as any other religion or church anyone is welcome to sit in on sermons.

Too late to edit: it's the *relationship* between Mindy and Madi. Not the "religious".

The gender roles in their family is ridiculous. I ALWAYS dread the Valentine's Day vlog because I know all we'll be hearing is "Ryler, Krew, and Brex, who is the GIRL you're interested in??? You have to get her a present and be a gentleman!! Who is the lucky LADY??" and then they consistently badger Hazyl about whatever other 5 year old boy is in her class and how she MUST think he's cute. Not to mention these kids are not even teenagers yet!!! I just hate that they only let their boys be masculine, and only let Hazyl be feminine. They are squandering so much of their personalities by forcing them to always be "the strong man". I don't actually know if any of this makes sense, but I hope someone can relate.lmmomSD wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 6:21 pm The funniest part (besides the only descriptive word Mindy knows being "sweet") of the TIHWB "about us" is that they describe the religious between Mindy and Madi as "flawless". Re: This Is How We Buy Stuff, Baby | This Is How We Bingham | Part 5
I think their heads would explode if they even thought that one of their kids was gay or trans.
And it's not just that-- it's the focus on looks. They never praise Hazy for anything but being cute or pretty. Granted, she's not sweet, no matter what Mindy claims (not her fault-- they're turning her into a spoiled brat) But she seems bright enough. They never show off her schoolwork and talk about how smart she is. They've praised Ryler for being "a gentleman" after he played butler at Hazy's birthday party, but that's more training and "do this or else" than something innate about him. When Brexsen got his glasses, Mindy went on about how cute he was, not how happy she was that he'd be able to see better. The boys are only praised for being handsome, being "studs", and "savages".
They're SHALLOW. And raising a shallow brood.

Re: This Is How We Buy Stuff, Baby | This Is How We Bingham | Part 5
I have a degree in gender studies and I can assure you that the Binghams implement hegemonic masculinity into their lives in every way possible. Men are far superior to women, they're stronger, smarter, they are the head of the family and women are simply there to look pretty and tend to their husbands and children. The Binghams reek of traditionalism and they're hindering the development of their kids personalities because of it.lmmomSD wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 10:50 pm I think their heads would explode if they even thought that one of their kids was gay or trans.

Which leads me back to my theory that Mindy is so controlling over clothes, hair and decor, because that's what she is allowed to control.

Geez. Hazy really is a brat. I love how Mindy claims she’s best friends with Brex. Uh, that’s blaringly false looking in every live they do.
I wonder how much threatening Mindy does before the lives start. Maybe from now on, don’t put them next to one another.

I totally agree that they live based in a tradicional Ideology such as women only exist to serve men and clean, I think it’s a community think, if you think about it, Mindy did nails for a living, Ashley Gardner is a esthetician, Stephanie does cookies, nothing against none of those professions of course, but it shows that for the the woman can’t have a job like corporate or doctor, they need to do beauty or household related stuff because “that’s all they know how to do”ms0926 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 9:10 pmThe gender roles in their family is ridiculous. I know we are talking about children and shouldn’t be talking about this but am I the only one who always has had gay vibes from brexen? I remember this time I was really confused because they seemed really traditional and anti-lgbtq but then brexen was walking around with painted nails, Againd, I know there’s nothing wrong with that but just never looked like something Mindy would allow

When he was younger than Hazel’s age he would paint his nails, I do remember that. Also the tie dye, the deer costume...bm15 wrote:I totally agree that they live based in a tradicional Ideology such as women only exist to serve men and clean, I think it’s a community think, if you think about it, Mindy did nails for a living, Ashley Gardner is a esthetician, Stephanie does cookies, nothing against none of those professions of course, but it shows that for the the woman can’t have a job like corporate or doctor, they need to do beauty or household related stuff because “that’s all they know how to do”ms0926 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 9:10 pmThe gender roles in their family is ridiculous. Yeah I see it too. I teach kids and kids know who they are this young in life. It comes out naturally then as they get older they suppress it.

Re: This Is How We Buy Stuff, Baby | This Is How We Bingham | Part 5
I have always had an inkling that Brexsen might be as well. Again, he's a very young kid, and maybe he's just expressing himself that way or exploring different styles, hobbies, etc. All little kids play dress up, all little kids (for the most part) want to paint their nails when they see another one of their family members doing it, regardless of gender. But yes, I have also had the same thought. I was also surprised to see that Branden and Mindy would allow him to do something like that, just because of the way they have acted in the past. I feel like they also have started calling him "STUD" and 'handsome" and all the other traditional-male-adjectives that they throw around their household more than they did.
I can't even imagine what they would do if one of their kids came out as part of the LGBTQ+ community. It is genuinely so sad that one of their kids, and so many other kids that are born into mormon families who are lgbt are so trapped and scared because of their family and religion.
Also, I am so glad that y'all pointed out how they never let Hazyl be smart. She's also just pretty and cute and what-not. Mindy always wants to say that she's trying to teach Hazyl to be a strong woman, but it feels like she never actually does. Why don't they tell Hazyl she could be a doctor? Or an engineer? Or an accountant? Or CEO? Instead she's just pretty and the boys will LOVE her. Thank GOD for Madi showing her and the boys that you can be pretty AND smart. And that girls can be just, if not more, successful than boys. I know they don't show every second of their day, but that is such a strong message for so many little girls. Not just looks and being beautiful, but being smart, strong, and the ability to do ANYTHING they set their mind to.
The Bingham's are squandering their children's personalities and their full potential. F*ck their mormon gender roles lmao.

It's 100% completely the community. It's very conservative and traditional. I suppose Mormons are not as bad as evangelical Christians, but still they all live and breathe pre 1950-1960s era. Men are strong, they are the providers, they are smart. Women are there to do the household, get married young have tons of children, please your husband, and always look pretty. In a sense very Mad Men like.bm15 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 21, 2020 6:53 amI totally agree that they live based in a tradicional Ideology such as women only exist to serve men and clean, I think it’s a community think, if you think about it, Mindy did nails for a living, Ashley Gardner is a esthetician, Stephanie does cookies, nothing against none of those professions of course, but it shows that for the the woman can’t have a job like corporate or doctor, they need to do beauty or household related stuff because “that’s all they know how to do”ms0926 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 20, 2020 9:10 pmThe gender roles in their family is ridiculous. Mindy’s constant rambling and attempts at motivation need to stop. It’s the same speech every day. We get it. You didn’t want to work out. But you did anyways. And you’re glad you did.

I get more of a gay vibe from Ryler. But I think that’s also a thin line from that and being an obnoxious spoiled brat with the way he acts.

I think Ryler is just that obnoxious kid that is going to grow up to be exactly like his dad with his rad epic savage adventures.
He looks like that annoying kid that’s always showing off his stuff.
Brexen and krew are more difficult to tell, their parents don’t give them much attention, I guess that’s what you get if you are more of a shy/calm kid in the middle of epic savage rad awesome Ryguy and sweet beautiful princess Hazy... Krew seems to be more down to earth and humble, you can tell that sometimes he looks annoyed at some of the things his parents do, then brexen is just a shy kid...but there’s some vibes...he’s just a kid and kids do whatever they want, obviously, but there’s something...some gestures, the nails, he loved to watch hazyl’s dance classes,The deer outfit, the tie dye, there’s really nothing wrong with any of those things, but I can imagine branden and Mindy pushing him to do “manly stuff” to not give the viewers what they consider a to be a bad idea (aka gay vibes), like when they say brexen was scared but was really brave and went down some waterslide I picture Mindy practically dragging him saying if his brother’s did it he must go to because he’s a man and therefore can’t be afraid

He also would rather sit and comb Mindy’s hair and do hairstyles. I’ve seen that on Instagram too.bm15 wrote:I think Ryler is just that obnoxious kid that is going to grow up to be exactly like his dad with his rad epic savage adventures.

I find it interesting that they call Hazy sweet, she is the most spoiled brat of child they have produced. She is always screaming and hitting, no manners and put on a pedestal by her idiotic mom so she never is responsible for her actions. I would actually say the Brex is the sweeter one, more polite. Hazy is a demon child, I would hate to see her in class when she doesnt get her way. She is so opposite of Ava who is actually sweet and kind. Ava is absolutely adorable. In fact I love all of Lindsey and Justin's kids. They all seem so sweet and genuine. Thankfully Justin has a few businesses and a career outside of YouTube which seems to help keep their family grounded and more relatable.Stephanie1976 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 21, 2020 4:29 pmI find it interesting that they call Hazy sweet, she is the most spoiled brat of child they have produced. Re: This Is How We Buy Stuff, Baby | This Is How We Bingham | Part 5
So, I usually don’t watch their lives, but this Sunday’s showed up on my recommendations today and since someone talked about it on here I took a peek...Mindy looked like she wanted to kill someone the entire time, she was so tense
When Hazy hit Brexen she definitely saw it but she only looked when Brexen did the same because princess Hazy can of course do whatever she wants
Look at 8:44 when he asks Mindy if he can sit in that spot, her nodd was scary, she looked like she was about to kill him
And Hazy making everyone stop what they were doing to let them know she was sad about not being able to color Such a brat
The funny part is that everyone told her she could but then brexen tried to do it and Mindy erased his drawing
And these were just the first 10 minutes of a 23 minute livestream...I gave up on watching the rest

Imagine the scolding and not so gentle lectures they are given before they go live. That would be entertaining to see! When Brandon mentioned going live for 24 hours straight poor whittle Mindy’s head almost exploded.bm15 wrote:So, I usually don’t watch their lives, but this Sunday’s showed up on my recommendations today and since someone talked about it on here I took a peek...Mindy looked like she wanted to kill someone the entire time, she was so tense

They have changed so much the past couple years it’s disgusting. Money has really gotten to their heads. They no longer have anything in common with “regular” people...and it really is blantantly obvious now that we are in a pandemic. - “Rules regarding others health and safety do not apply to us and we can continue to run out and spend a lot of money on items we absolutely do not need if we want...and, boy, do we WANT. We are not sorry in the least if this makes our “fans” feel badly or wish they could be us...even if it is because of our “fans” support we even have the money we do. So there”.
