While the doula went over the line for my comfort I do know that in the middle of a tough labor and delivery lines can get blurred. I get Lucy when she says Joel couldn't hit the spot and the doula was spot on. I just don't want anyone to be offended by the gay/lesbian talk as if it's wrong or something to be ashamed of.

I don't see it as inappropriate. Some people are more affectionate than others and if Lucy wasn't bothered by it, than I could care less. I honestly don't think Joel wanted to be in the pool to begin with. Lucy forced him, I'm sure. I think he looked at being in the pool with everything floating around as very gross. It was odd behavior, but I thought it was sweet. I don't think many others doulas could have done the job at the performance and meet the expectations of the clients as well as she did.

Baby No name is ridiculous!

In my family, there is a huge joke about me when I'm about to pop (I have two kids) because I take forever to name my kids... one took almost 2 days and one took 3.5 days. A cousin actually jokingly cross stitched me a birth announcement for my daughter that said "Baby No Name".

Did anyone else sense disappointment at baby's gender? Lucy said quite flatly "it's a girl" , Joel said nothing.. I do wonder if baby had been a boy there might have been a more elaborate gender announcement and definitely a name by now..

If it were a male doula, we would be having the same questions as to why that person would be kissing on a client. Regardless, us other mothers wonder and speculate. Then again, after seeing Joel fish a turd out of the water, i wouldnt bat an eye if they have an open marriage. Nasty and no boundaries seem to be present. She probably takes a daily dump and shows it to him.

Well, good on him. Even still, I don't know very many husbands that get turned on by such blatant things like mucous plugs, poop, expectations of cleaning cloth diapers, cooking meals, cleaning, ect. Mainly, i was pointing out poor joel's sad predicament. Oh, but i suppose him taping the sensual birth with floating poop, whilst lucy later proclaimed no once else hold the baby but her is amazing. I don't think helping her in labour is anything to do with their relationship dynamic, unfair or otherwise.

It's what every man should do when his partner is in labour.

The amount of housework he is forced to do is a different matter entirely.

Yes, I watched the video, well parts of it anyway. I skipped through a lot but I did see the Great Poo incident.

He saw it, scooped it up, put it on a towel or some paper and wrapped it up.

I don't see what the big deal is. Yes, he is henpecked, yes he does do the bulk of cooking and cleaning. That little act of caring for his wife made him go up several steps in my estimation. A lot of immature men would say "Ewwww, Im not touching that! You pooped! Disgusting!" Mature men can deal with the fact that labour is messy and quite often disgusting.

The fact that he does the bulk of the cooking and cleaning makes me think worse of Lucy if anyone. She's a lazy git.

Yes, i suppose it does make him the more mature man. I guess i was more sad.that he was picking the poo up, while the midwife sat there, holding lucy up and giving her kisses. My point, is that joel seems like more of a maid, sperm donor, and robot to lucy's bidding. Poor guy. She lies constantly, too.
