8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18

[/quote]Ruby even said at the time that it was a "reflex decision, like pulling your kid out of traffic". So they obviously didn't put much thought into it (except for getting the deal-- discount for promoting the program)
This whole thing seemed fishy to me from the start.

It bothers me so much that Ruby doesnt even have the capacity of thinking this through. Pulling your child out of traffic is a reflex but also very quick. Its over as soon as it started, it was reflex to save your childs life. A extended period of time that has significant psychological effects should not be a reflex reaction. It should only be decided on after months of research, and I am a Christian so I would include prayer. It bothers me that a supposed life coach cant even make proper analogies. I just cannot fathom how insane this woman is. Yes, her children say "oh were fine," "no were not abused." But I had friends who grew up in very restrictive homes and were the perfect children. They would never have told anyone they were suffering because their minds were on the magical number of 18 and they knew that if they said anything while in the house they would have an even worse home life. I hope that Chad choses to go to college, even BYU, they will then get to see that even by the Mormon standard their lives and childhoods are not normal. How their Bishop or someone from the church havent asked them to stop vlogging because it reflects poorly on the church blows my mind. I am under no impression that the church would care about how the kids are doing, I just know that they would care about how it reflects their image.

The thing is, when your abusers are your immediate family and you live in environment where you are constantly told how you need to love and cherish them, you may not even recognise you are being abused until years and years later...
It's not that you're stupid or foolish, but you have been conditioned your whole life, it is the only thing you know... And yes you feel like something is wrong but at the same time if your parents tell you what is wrong is you and that you deserve it all and worse... That if it wasn't for them protecting you it would all be even more terrible for you because of who you are... You are not going to tell anyone, because you don't think anyone cares or that anything happening isn't your own fault.
Lucky kids that actually know they were being abused, it's much harder to come to terms with it when you actually learn about it even decades later, often by the time you are having kids and cannot reconcile the actions of your own family with how you feel towards your kids and open up to someone...

They tithe. They actually double tithe with the kids, because they tithe when they earn the money, then make the kids tithe as well.
The Mormon church loves money, as do most organized churches. Plus I think they see the positive comments, and think that the majority of people see Ruby as a role model of good parenting and probably buy the story that it's just "jealous haters" that object to their methods.

What are the kids’ ages? I assume Shari is 17 turning 18 this school year. I believe Eve is turning 7 and is going into first grade. What are the other kids’ ages and grades?
Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
I believe Shari is 17, Chad is 15, Abby is 13, Julie is 11, Russel is 9, and she just posted Eve is 7 today.Ducklings4 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 01, 2020 12:47 pm What are the kids’ ages? Ruby is SO obsessed with keeping her kids away from all the things that make them kids. I thought it was extreme when she took away Chad's phone, but then his bed? Why does she want to torture them? She wonders why they don't have friends at school and then continues to do everything she can to set them apart from every kid their age. What could Chad be doing that is so bad in their white suburbia town in Utah? So he has a bad attitude? Don't all teenagers? Ruby does not have her kids' best interest in mind, she has her best interest in mind to keep things in a way where she can fully control them.
Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
If you look back on the old home videos of Ruby growing up...you can see even then she has serious control issues. She was constantly trying to control everything and everyone around her. She’s a mess. Now her kids are being ruined by her mental fuck ups.ms0926 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 01, 2020 8:38 pm Ruby is SO obsessed with keeping her kids away from all the things that make them kids. Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
You're so right. It's all turning into a trust issue. She can't trust her son in his bed therefore she takes it away, she can't trust her kids with phones. She throws around the word responsbility but how are the kids supposed to learn responsibilty if she keeps taking it away. Real parent of the year when you raise your kids so you can't trust them with anything. Really promoting a healthy relationship with the kids that way... it's obvious the kids don't trust Ruby and that's why she is getting rebellion. Poor kids are messed up and don't even know it. I can't get over how she just broadcasts this to the world.Catface2 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 6:38 amIf you look back on the old home videos of Ruby growing up...you can see even then she has serious control issues. Ruby will film anything that will get her a lot of money. She will do anything for money even if means she has to exploit her kids and film them when don't want to be filmed.L1g4d wrote:You're so right. It's all turning into a trust issue. I know this was from a few days ago, so it may have been addressed already... but, Shari's back to school vlog... did she get herself ANOTHER new hydro flask??? Or is that someone else's that she had?

Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
Ruby's latest Insta stories make me mad. Don't claim to be homeschooling if you dump half your kids off at classes for someone else to teach. Also a lot of theater and art stuff, which is nice, but are they getting the basic English and math too? My guess is no, because Ruby doesn't think it looks good for the camera. And don't even get me started on making one kid sit and do online classes in the car while 3 other kids are inside doing actual classes.
And those pizzas. They didn't look too bad, but I can't help but notice that Ruby and Kevin had nicer looking ones while the kids had plain-ass cheese ones with nothing on them. I know a lot of kids get cheese given the choice, but I would bet my whole bank account that the plain (probably cheaper) pizzas were chosen for them and they were told to be humble and grateful for it while watching Ruby and Kevin eat the pizzas they actually wanted.

Uhhh Ruby said that Abby and Julie want to continue homeschooling through high school. How can they know that when they haven't even started the first year? Now if they change their minds they'll be punished. Also they are clearly not showing Chad's room getting fixed because it's still a disaster ages later and god knows where the poor kid is sleeping.

Of course homeschool is expensive if you buy a mini-fridge and recarpet every room, she's doing stuff that is so unnecessary.

Re: 8 Passengers: No beds, no food, but mom loves motherhood! | Part 18
Ruby bought a mini fridge for Abby and Julie's room? Wtf? What kind of person buys a mini fridge for two of her kids BEFORE getting ALL of the kids actual beds to sleep in? Also, no wonder Chad's bedroom is taking ages to get done, because Ruby selfishly decided to get all the carpeting done for the entire house instead of just focusing on her son's room which is badly damaged. I'm all for Ruby giving her kids special treats now and then, but a mini fridge is just ridiculous when there are so many other necessities the kids are missing. An 11 and 14 year old don't need a mini fridge in their study room. That's also a pretty big fridge for the one soda and half a piece of lettuce that minimalist Ruby will allow Abby and Julie to keep in it.
Their 'homeschooling' is such a mess. Abby said she wanted to do homeschool, but now she wants to do online school with the private school? What's that all about? And have they even officially started homeschool or are the kids just taking classes for fun? I don't even know what classes those kids are taking. To me it seems like such a hodgepodge of all these random subjects - art, theatre, calligraphy, five different languages, ancient Greece. There's no structure or logic at all to what these kids are learning. It seems like it's a free for all with Ruby signing her kids up with 20 different programs that will teach her kids for her and letting them pick whatever they want to learn from them. In a few weeks the kids are going to get overwhelmed with the 10 random subjects from 10 different places that they're taking and will probably want to give up on all of them.
Those carpets looked disgusting. Is Dwight literally not potty trained at all? I know I'm not the only one on here who has caught glimpses of his poop lying all over the floor in their house and now the carpet is covered in pee stains. I know all dogs have accidents, but there's 8 people in that house who can let him outside. I have a smaller dog like that who is well potty trained, but we also have a few absorbent pads placed all over the house for when we're gone or to give him an option if he can't get outside fast enough. Of course, with Ruby's complete lack of regard for hygiene, I'm guessing she just lets him poop and pee all over the house and lets it sit there for days instead of cleaning it.

Haven't watched yet, but that is disgusting about dog poop and pee. Their house must smell wonderful, like they do! Although the birds go all over the house dropping poop everywhere so why limit Dwight. They are so lazy, it's unbelievable. How difficult is it to work with a dog, even crate training if they need to, instead, we'll just let him figure it out, while we put no effort forth. No different than anything else Ruby does.rulatows000 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 6:39 am Ruby bought a mini fridge for Abby and Julie's room? Wtf? Also, on the phone to the doctor surgery, Ruby says her daughters are 11 and 14, but Abby is actually 13! How does Ruby not known the ages of her own kids? Abby only turned 13 in the start of lockdown.
