Sorry if you don’t have the money, you can’t save the money. They have not gotten their heads wrapped around what they really owe. They are just playing a game. I wish they would wake up be adults and fix the mess they’re in.

They really need to pay their back taxes first. They also need to probably pay their 2019 taxes. If they were so broke last year, were they even saving a cent for taxes?
I know they are making these videos for views and $$$, but they look completely stupid.

My kids have been obsessed with Wreck It Ralph lately, and I just came here to say that Ralph reminds me so much of Cullen!!

Re: Cullen and Katie: Shifty eyes and constant lies | Part #25
Why are they so worried about birthdays? I have never spent more than $100 for a birthday party including food and decor. She wants to spend $100 on gifts for the kids? Dear lord what is wrong with them?
Also, why is their Costco membership $100? We don't have a Costco here in my area but my Sams club membership is only $45.
How convenient that she prefers not to use her every dollar app to keep track of things.
I definitely get them impression that they disagree a lot on what they spend money on. Cullen was all for not having the kids in extracurricular activities for now and of course Katie had justifications.
Omg, you don't NEED to buy fireworks for the 4th of July! Go to any of the free places that put on a firework show.
They are just so privileged I just can't like I know it has been said before but it is just crazy how out of touch they are.
Cullen was getting frustrated and clearly is on board with cutting all these expenses out yet Katie just cannot get with the program. I guess losing their house and moving in with her parents is the wakeup call she will need.
Why are car tags so expensive in Alabama? Here in ohio car tag renewal for each year is like 70 per car? Do the tags last for longer than a year?

It might just be certain taxes different states have year to year. They also have a expensive newer car that will make them more expensive. Our car is like a 2012 and it’s still almost $200 here in Indiana. We have a Chevy equinox.Boymomma123 wrote:Why are they so worried about birthdays? I am in Ohio and we have a 2016 and 2017 van and truck and we pay about 70 per car per year. We are talking about the little sticker with the year on it that goes on your license plate right?chloe6124 wrote:It might just be certain taxes different states have year to year. If giving gifts is soooooo important to them, they should take all those gift cards that happen to be laying around and exchange them online for cash to spend on their kids birthdays, not their own. These two haven't sacrificed anything to get out of the trouble they caused, and their family will suffer for years because of it.

Or, depending on the gift card (if it’s Walmart, Target, or Amazon etc) put the gift card in the birthday envelope and use it to buy said birthday gifts.ZzzCupcakes wrote:Boymomma123 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2020 5:49 am Why are they so worried about birthdays? They don't have money for sinking funds. Period.
Kids will get bday gifts from friends and family - just invite people over to your house and make a boxed cake. Same with Christmas.
Now, I'm not saying that you can't have sinking funds if you have debt. If you're making good progress paying off debt, have money left over every month, etc, I think that's fine.
The difference here is that these two are so on the edge that they could lose their house. At this point, they need to be doing everything they can to ensure the survival of their family. A foreclosed house, or bankruptcy, or some other major consequence would be FAR WORSE for their kids than a birthday without any gifts from mom & dad. Family survival should be their #1 goal right now.

True. I talking more about the gift cards they've "found" and have been using on themselves for massages, dinners out, etc.angelfire89 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2020 8:29 amOr, depending on the gift card (if it’s Walmart, Target, or Amazon etc) put the gift card in the birthday envelope and use it to buy said birthday gifts.ZzzCupcakes wrote:Boymomma123 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2020 5:49 am Why are they so worried about birthdays? Yes the yearly renewal. They are changing things in Indiana now where there is no sticker. It’s going to be imbedded in your plate where it can just be scanned by police equipment.Boymomma123 wrote:I am in Ohio and we have a 2016 and 2017 van and truck and we pay about 70 per car per year. You guys in Ohio must have a lot less taxes on your yearly renewals. In Indiana it depends on the year and make of car.

Re: Cullen and Katie: Shifty eyes and constant lies | Part #25
I think they are counting on a much bigger paycheck from yt in the coming months because their monthly views have increased pretty substantially. Which is why any normal person in debt would be even more motivated to cut out spending. My husband started a new career and is making double what he used to make which has motivated us to knock out our debt. We have a fraction of the debt C&K have and it is mostly student loans and I try to cut costs everywhere I can.
They need to go meet with a financial advisor and make real changes and sacrifices.

Do they have consignment stores or Goodwill stores in Alabama? Because they could be saving so much shopping there for kids clothes and the "random things" they seem to need to have.
I've been a Costco member for several years, we have the executive membership that is $110 a year. With that membership you get 2% back on all purchases. We get a check from Costco every December and we put it toward the membership and since we do a lot of our shopping and get gas at Costco, it has paid for itself for several years.
These sinking funds are ridiculous. It really is like they're playing a game.

It's like they are playing a game and making it fun as some sort of coping mechanism to avoid the actual reality and difficult part.

Re: Cullen and Katie: Shifty eyes and constant lies | Part #25
So Brad and Rachel have invited them to come over for a free vacation where they would probably stay at Rachel's parents' house and also being fed by Brad and Rachel. I know this is to the advantage of Brad and Rach to grow their channel, but I don't like that Cullen and Katie are profiting from other people and getting a free ride, while not truly thrifting or on a genuine debt journey. The invitation by Brad just sounds misleading and undeserved to me I guess.
I also hate that in the comments now everyone is saying "Katie and Cullen" because Brad called them like this and everyone is sucking up saying how beautiful their families are. Unfortunately these young girls that are watching the vlogs are so naive.
But okay now that I've said this, I'm over it and see the positive side. It's something else for change and actually I can't wait LOL, let them go to the woods and country side! I can't wait till they say they have new "friends" and all kids eat vegetables except Gaines, more honestly, I hope Gaines will learn to eat vegetables and preferably also meat, there! Lets see what comes out of this.

I still think they are using credit cards. I don’t see how they could be bringing in enough cash right now to sustain themselves.

I think they are still using the credit cards as well, or at least they will be when the giftcards run out.
I also think they are assuming their current financial situation is due to poor budgeting on their part. But what they fail to realize is their spending is way above their income.

I thought they froze their credit cards into a giant ice block. I'm surprised they aren't already maxed out on the cards anyway, and making only minimum payment is going to take years to pay off. I remember getting a Lowe's credit card solely for the purpose of buying an expensive washer dryer combo on one of their 6 month no payment/zero interest promotions. We paid it off within the 6 months and canceled the card. Had we gone ahead with the minimum payment they requested, $45/month, the fine print said it would be paid off in 15 years!!
Re: Cullen and Katie: Shifty eyes and constant lies | Part #25
They do a ton of online shopping. They were even trying to get Gaines to spend her "work money" online instead of at a store. While their cards my be "frozen" in a block of ice they are still usable. So is PayPal, Venmo, etc...kaper wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2020 12:57 pm I thought they froze their credit cards into a giant ice block. Everything they do is for "show". Their stupid little coloring charts. Katie keeping their budget in a notebook like a tweenager. Hell, even a tweenager would probably use Excel.
I don't think they are struggling at all. I don't think there is a "debt disaster" either. They treat this whole thing like a joke while not giving up the things they really want. People who are truly struggling with debt don't behave the way they are behaving. Gift cards can be sold for CASH. If they really needed cash that's what they'd do with all those gift cards.
