So am I the only one who thinks that Noah sticking his whole face in the cake that everyone is supposed to eat is no longer cute? I mean, make a little cake he can do that with... And they were both stuffing their faces and talking with their mouths full. I know it's a birthday celebration, but it's so icky. It's my pet peeve, if you can't tell. It just grosses me out so much.
And PJ always looks like a ragamuffin. She doesn't need fancy dresses and hairdos, but brush her hair and get it out of her face. She just seems like an afterthought sometimes. She's not in any sports, or any activities at all, but they made sure Noah got into baseball. It's going to be interesting to see if they have Ezra in sports too while PJ is still on the sidelines.

I have mixed feelings about Noah and the cake. On one hand, yes it is his birthday cake and that’s all he really wants to do with it. But it is a waste of food and kind of rude to the people celebrating with him. Monica was laughing it off but you could tell she was getting a bit upset about it. Every time she pointed to a piece that hadn’t been smashed (that she could still eat) Noah immediately smashed it with his face. They even made a joke about prospective comments being mad about the $1 dollar cake they were “wasting.” I doubt most of those people would be concerned about the cost as much as the actual amount of food people in poorer counties would kill for. I think the little personal smash cake would be a better choice for him, or even big cupcakes.

I think PJ has difficult hair than Jenn just doesn’t know how to deal with. It’s that fine, thin hair that tangles so easily. If that’s the case, she may not put up with a ton of brushing/styling. But at the same time, there are days when Jenn styles it so cute so . She also may just need more regular haircuts to keep it in a defined shape.

I thought they said at some point they were planning on putting PJ in soccer or something but she had to be a little older for the activities in the area. Not sure where that lands now. As much as I like them for the most part, they are fully supporting/encouraging the girly girl, loves pink princess stuff with PJ. Which is fine if that’s what she likes but should also at least try her out with sports and other activities.

They should have had more than one cake. An extra dollar wouldn’t have killed them and it wouldn’t have taken that much extra time. I’m kinda surprised he didn’t get a party this year. 5 is a milestone and he has friends to invite since he’s been in school.

They know how to take care of PJ’s hair, but they choose not to. Jenn seemed amazed when she conditioned it once or twice and it looked great. That’s literally all that it takes. She needs it more now since they’re swimming everyday. Maybe they’ll be forced to do better when PJ starts school in a few weeks? PJ has shown just as much interest in the sports Noah plays. Sometimes I think she’s enjoyed going to his practices more than he has. They’ve mentioned how he’s shy sometimes and doesn’t want to play. I really think she’s going to be the better athlete. They give so much attention to Noah’s athletic abilities. She might feel like she has to outperform him just for attention.

They really can’t project the super girly stereotype on to PJ if she looks like her hair hasn’t been brushed in a month. Noah needs a haircut too. As a family, I think they struggle with styling. There’s nothing wrong with that, but given that they support themselves with their images, I wonder if they miss out on opportunities because they rarely look put together well. Sam’s suits don’t fit well. He always looks like he’s wearing hand me down suits from his dad. Jenn never really looks comfortable in the clothes she chooses. Her long and lifeless hair doesn’t really flatter her face and make her look frumpy. She’s beautiful, but a few adjustments would make a world of difference.

And I know it's so shallow to drag on them about looks, but PJ's hair is always in her face. If they want her fine hair long, they need to take care of it.
I agree that PJ seems at least equally interested in the sports. There are classes for very little kids. Brooks from Cullen and Katie was in gymnastics at 2. I don't think she's as girly as they try to make her out to be. They go on about makeup and stuff, but Jenn herself hardly wears makeup. Which is fine. I think Jenn would look great with a bob. I just think there's a lot of subliminal stereotyping going on in that family. I don't even think they're aware of it.
I hope that they had a party with friends of Noah's and just didn't film it. We had tons of kids at my son's and daughter's birthdays once they got to be school age. It was a blast.

I think they’re exactly who their parents raised them to be. That’s not a bad thing, but they will always adhere to gender roles and force them on the kids. Jenn has mentioned that her grandma took care of them as kids and her youngest brother always got special attention. I doubt Sam’s mom was delivering sandwiches and Mountain Dew to his sisters everyday too. I think they would be judged more harshly for PJ’s appearance if they weren’t such nice people. There’s really no excuse. Both of them are stay at home parents. It’s not difficult to keep her hair brushed and out of her face.

I actually really like the "messy" looks about them. I am always confused at how much Americans seem to care about children's looks. Every kid has to be perfectly groomed even if they don't want to "fix" their hair. Bonnie for instance didn't let Cody go to school without her styling it and he was only a little boy and he seemed annoyed by that. I am glad that my parents never put all those hair products in my hair.
But of course, their hair shouldn't be in their face but I am pretty sure they brush it every day. I think it's PJ's hair structure what makes it the way it is after some minutes playing. The only way to tame it would be with some products..

As to gender roles, I totally agree. But that has been my pet peeve with most Youtubers.

In today's vlog, Sam went to Trader Joe's with PJ but he only showed a 2 second clip. I don't know if it's because stores don't want people filming, but I think he could have made more out of it. It's kinda boring to watch their vlogs. Theirs seem to be a compilation of short random clips.. I don't know how to explain it.

Ezzie is really cute though. I almost never find babies cute but the way he looks at the camera and smiles is really cute.

I don't mind them being messy. I'm glad they don't put a bunch of product in Noah's hair (not because he's a boy-- because I don't think any kid needs to have a haircut that requires product and extensive styling to look ok)
It's just that it's always in her face. And they keep letting it grow. Just put it in a ponytail and call it a day.

I thought it was so sweet that Jenn got to have a fun girls night out for her birthday. I will say, I love Shawn Mendes and am seeing him next month..can't imagine the cost of that if Sam and Jenn paid for everyones ticket even if they are that high up! Nonetheless, she deserves time out to herself, I feel like she always puts her family first which is obviously nice but we all need some time here and there. Jenn is so beautiful, look at her as they were singing happy birthday. Heart eyes!

I don't know if they ever truly made up and fixed things 100%, but I did notice Sam comment on Tyler's instagram picture and it was super friendly like not award at all. Also, every now and then I'll notice Jenn and Tyler's wife like each others instas and comment. I think they're fine with each other now, and since they don't live close by anymore they probably just keep up with each other on social media and nothing more.

This was my first thought too. I think the first time Noah was still so young and they were in an apartment/townhouse. Pretty sure Ezra is older now than Noah was at the time. Noah and PJ are also old enough to help with the basics of dog ownership (helping to feed him, participating in walks, Noah could even start picking up poops.)

Fingers crossed things will be different this time. Especially with a Mini Aussie, because those dogs have A TON of energy and need to have a job/be stimulated constantly. Also interestingly, I’ve heard they tend to chose one person to bond with/protect.

how is having a puppy with a baby any different than when they got a puppy last time with a baby.
puppies nip... A LOT. I am a strong believer in no puppies in the house with children under five because they do nip and bite and jump and are just all around crazy and most end up at a shelter or pound or sold to another family because of this.
why couldn't they have gotten a dog out of the puppy stage that was already trained and loves to be around kids?
