I'm all for getting the child comfortable with something, but why rush it? He doesnt even turn 2 until July. They really don't want to have to change two children's diapers at once, do they? I wouldn't want to either, but I would never rush a child into potty training when they weren't ready. They really should just wait longer to have a second baby for so many reasons.

yeah, i would be super surprised if they actually potty-trained him all by themselves. i have a feeling that it's going to be a temporary thing & then they're going to put it off because they're not going to have the energy to be getting up all the time to take him to the toilet. i could definitely see "Mimi & Papa" do all of the work, even Cassie.

When Bryan was talking about his new cord, he seemed like he was in a parking lot til he said that he was stuck in bad traffic..but idk.

If they don't want to change two kids diapers at once here's a thought, wait until Ollie is trained to start trying for babe #2. God forbid they have twice the diapers to change a day, that will surely take so much time out of their schedule for all the 'work' they (don't) do. Ollie is incredibly young still for potty training, it's possible he could pick it up, but they're likely wasting their time for probably another 6mos-1year.

boys are harder to potty train too. most don't pick it up until closer to 3 and sometimes even 4. seriously. i've known of girls to pick it up sometimes fully by 18 months.

how old is ollie? 18 months? all he says is 'eh eh eh'... he doesn't point at ANYTHING and say what it is. 'car' 'dog' 'drink' 'mama' 'dadda' 'ball' 'toy' 'up' 'down' - they are all very simple things that kids should be saying - i was speaking in sentences by 16 months and he does not say any of them. so yeahhhhh, i doubt toilet training him is going to happen soon at the rate he's going...

ellie and jared's little boy who turns 1 in a couple of days says more. he's always saying 'mama'.

has anyone actually heard oliver say mama or dadda?

19 to 24 Months
By now, your child can understand simple questions such as "Do you want more milk?" Though he may only be using 50 to 75 words, he actually understands as many as 200 of them and is capable of paying attention to what you say. Around this time he'll start showing off his knowledge by putting together simple sentences. These sentences will likely consist of a noun and a verb and be directly related to his life, like "Dog bark" or "Go car."

At a year and a half, most children speak a dozen words (or more) clearly. Besides "Mama" and "Dada," favorite words include "bye-bye," "milk," "cookie," "car," "oh!," and "my." Many 18-month-old toddlers can also link two words together to form rudimentary sentences — sentences without linking verbs or other connecting words. She may say "All gone," "Want ball," or "Me up."

I know it's already been discussed but Bryan's Twitter profile pic makes me want to punch him in the face (a non life threatening gentle punch because I'm not actually a violent person) every time I see it. He looks like an idiot and does he think looking high as a kite makes him look attractive? Urg. I can't stand him.

Guys, you forgot that Ollie is so advanced with the physical stuff. He'll be potty trained in a couple weeks. ;)

Kailand Null speaks more than Oliver too but it's no surprise when you see how Austin and Britt engage their children in conversation. Audriana is brilliant. *sorry for any name spelling mistakes.

I keep posting today when normally I'm more of a lurker but people are making this photo of Austin into funny memes and I'm tempted to make one saying "That face you make when Bryan Lanning tweets you."

He probably still wears the same size shirt today as he did then (mental refusal to believe that he's packed on a few pounds) and that's why he looks like shit.

If they force Ollie into Potty Training before he is ready it may end up taking longer to fully train him.

I don't think they realize Potty training takes a lot of effort, and means a lot of cleaning!

I wonder if they have also considered there 8 trips coming up and how will potty training fit into with that, consistency is one of the keys to potty training after all.

At this stage I think they would be better off helping Oliver improve his oral language.

Bryan and Missy - Do shit with your kid! Read to him, play with him, talk to him! Its not rocket science.

I had a professor tell my class about his friends who were from India, and had their child fully potty trained by 1 year old.

I don't have children, but it seems if she pushes him on the potty now, when he isn't ready, so it's "fun" won't he just get used to it essentially being a toy? Will he really want to poop on his toy...
