I have just never understood because some coffee is good for the body (better than pop/energy drinks) I have watched a few drink herbal tea when sick (guessing it's ok because it doesn't have caffeine) thanks for the infoewokfan11 wrote:Straight from LDS.org:
The Word of Wisdom is a law of health revealed by the Lord for the physical and spiritual benefit of His children. On February 27, 1833, as recorded in section 89 of the Doctrine and Covenants, the Lord revealed which foods are good for us to eat and which substances are not good for the human body. He also promised health, protection, knowledge, and wisdom to those who obey the Word of Wisdom.
In the Word of Wisdom, the Lord revealed that the following substances are harmful:
Alcoholic drinks (see D&C 89:5-7).
Tobacco (see D&C 89:8).
Tea and coffee (see D&C 89:9; latter-day prophets have taught that the term “hot drinks,” as written in this verse, refers to tea and coffee).
No, Mormons aren't supposed to drink hot coffee or hot tea - yes, it's NUTS, but I'm not Mormon. In that clip with coffee, Jinger and Carl didn't even drink any. I'm guessing B&M brought the coffeemaker (a French press, which is really small) because Bryan needs his coffee. My other guess is that it's for some brand deal because it was SUPER random!

The absolute craziest thing to me is that Ollie and Finn would be happier with going to the park, having a picnic rather than a 300 dollar toy. They would probably have more fun than disneyland, wasn't Ollie playing in the dirt and Mimi and Papa's once? I remember something like that because he seemed to have a blast!lmmomSD wrote:I think that's what people have been saying. It's not so much the mountains of toys. And even then, the main reason I can usually talk myself down is because it's too expensive...I'm not sure I would be able to stop myself if I had Missy & Bryan's new money. I also have to say though, that my desire to buy him tons of toys is not *only* because I love him and want to make him happy, but also because toddlers are very draining when they're grumpy, and having him occupied by a new toy for an hour or two is a break for me!! Going back to work has really helped me, as now I know he gets lots of new toys to play with at daycare all day, and we are not so bored of his old toys at home because we are not home playing with them all day.
Anyway, in my mind, if I came into tons of money suddenly, I would carefully handpick a small amount of good quality toys for my son, and have it all organised nicely in expensive shelving haha. But yeah can't say if that would be reality or not.
Also just have to mention that some of the most "spoiled" kids I knew growing up have turned out to be some of the nicest, most amazing & caring adults ... but this has nothing to do with the fact that they were given every toy they could possibly want...they also happened to have amazing parents who cared about raising them properly. Throwing toys at your kids is probably just a symptom of bad parenting in other ways, not the sole factor that turns kids into poorly adjusted brats.
Roman Atwood just did another Make A Wish kid's wish fulfillment. He picked him up in LA, flew him to Rochester NY to see a Nitro Circus show (Google it-- it's really cool). While they were in Rochester, he had his brother find them a new, wheelchair accessible apartment, and paid for them to get all moved in and bought new furniture for them. He took his older son with him on one of the Make a Wish trips. He is making much more money than Bryan, and his kids have lots of toys, but he's teaching his kids gratitude. When he gave his older son Noah a phone for his birthday, Noah cried. There's nothing wrong with giving your kids lots of things. But don't spoil them. Spoiling is giving them things without any sense of the value. Giving them toys instead of attention. Telling them they can't have something, and then giving in because they get mad. Life isn't fair, and sometimes they can't have everything that they want. They need to learn that. And Bryan and Missy definitely aren't teaching Ollie that. He's going to have a very rude awakening someday.

Ahh, sorry. I could have sworn I had watched Mormon youtubers before who had said they didn't have sugar and caffeine because of the rules and then people recently saying they had changed the rules. Can't edit, but wanted to add that the reason these "spoiled" kids grew up nice was because they weren't spoiled. There's a big difference between having a lot of stuff and being spoiled.twinklepink88 wrote:I totally get the desire to buy everything for your kids... my son is a year and a half old now and I really have to stop myself from buying him all the cheap plastic crap I see. But the rules have changed as far as I know. My Mormon friends in high school couldn't drink caffeinated soda. It was a huge no no. And now, Mormon vloggers are drinking Dr Pepper and regular Diet Coke, and they sell caffeinated soda at BYU now.(which they didn't before) They say they "clarified" it. Yeah I’ve actually met Mormons from other stages and apparently they had different rules than I did being Mormon in Oregon. It’s weird.lmmomSD wrote:But the rules have changed as far as I know. Did anyone see this same photo on Bryan or maybe Missy’s insta story? She looked MUCH larger and this photo is totally photoshopped. Thoughts?

To be fair, most of the toys the kids get are sent to them for free from PR companies. Even the Star Wars lightsaber thing they "gave" to Carl and Jinger's kids was obviously sent for free - Carlie Butler "gave" the same PR item to Cooper for his birthday.
The amount of free stuff sent to YTers is ridiculous! They just never mention it was sent for free.

Anyone see the pic Missy posted saying "Utah is beautiful!" and the picture was of her, with an unfocused bit of Utah in the background?

Yeah, well _my_ dad was kind to people _outside_ the family and taught me how to be nice to others. And while I was married, I treated my husband with respect and didn't make huge social media posts about my dad while pretending my husband hardly existed.ladyju28 wrote:Lmao! This Bitch! But they don't have to give it to the kids every freaking day, without any sense of how great they have it compared to the rest of the world.ewokfan11 wrote:To be fair, most of the toys the kids get are sent to them for free from PR companies. They don't HAVE to, but PR companies expect some exposure/coverage and B&M don't want the free stuff to stop coming!! HAHA! I'm sure they don't see anything wrong with it. I don’t really know who this Roman Atwood guy is that someone mentioned. I might have seen a video here and there but I just watched that video (on silent because I was getting my son to fall sleep) where he took that kid to the nitro circus and appeared to buy them a house? Wow, that guy is amazing. I would love to see the Lanning’s help people out more and use their “celebrity” for good. Although this other guy seems much more famous? I dunno, I’m intrigued by this guy since someone else brought him up. Lol.

Do B&M donate around Christmas? Like to Toys for Tots or anything? I can't remember. Imagine the blessing it would be if they gave the same amount of toys they give to the boys to underprivileged children. Or doing the angel tree thing, where you pick out a child (or several) and give them whatever they asked for, whether it's a toy, clothes, etc. I feel like they did a bunch of those one year, or maybe that was another Youtuber?
idk I started thinking of all their holiday spending and hope they do something for someone. I think the joy that comes from brightening a child's life could help fill their emptiness (or at least Bryan's...I'm not sure what could fill Missy's)

Re: DailyNightmaresBeforeChristmas Part #98
Not to hate on Roman, but that's a YT Red production - so it's totally paid for (all of it!) by YouTube for VIEWS!!! Roman is a nice guy, but he's not paying a CENT for this series (he's probably paid for doing it). I'm glad they are helping people, but it's not actually Roman paying for it - and YT is making a PROFIT from it!!!!DidEyeSayIt wrote:I don’t really know who this Roman Atwood guy is that someone mentioned.
