twinmama wrote:Hey ladies! Lurker here. I saw the Mother's Day post on IG as well as their dinner out, and my head just exploded and I need to go on a rant. Full disclosure - I've been lurking for the past few threads, but still don't have my head around all the acronyms and nicknames you guys use. But I'm just so peeved at these people, and I need a group who gets it.
Background: I have 10-month old twin boys who were born prematurely, so I coped by watching/following the Busbys, Gardners, Scotts, etc. I thought the Gardners were kinda hokey but cute on Rattled, but of course that was filmed years ago, with professional editing. Also, my husband and I both work "rill" jobs - we have corporate jobs in New York City, have a real nanny, and struggle a lot with figuring out the right balance between work and home.
But anyways, I was scrolling through IG and saw the adorable pictures posted by all the other vloggers I follow with them and their children, and then there's GQS, posting one of those stupid posed seneshit pics. Nothing of them with their girls, not even one of those horribly staged photos on their porch (I'm sure cause they're traveling). It just hit me how clueless they are.
Here are the things I can't stand about GQS:
1. Their emphasis on "work." They DO NOT have real jobs. Going live on IG in your office is not "working." Selling makeup via an MLM is predatory. Vlogging without decent editing or care for your content is not a real job. Somehow they've decided that "work" and frankly, making money, is a major part of their identity, but they put no care into it, nor do they know what real work is.
2. They're on the financial edge - and WILL end up bankrupt again. Seriously, Seneshit will be a gravy train for a while, but I can nearly guarantee it will end. I don't think they have the intelligence to curate their vlog content enough to keep that going past a few years. They're going to need a viable business or go back and get "rill" jobs. Obviously I don't know how much money they make, but we can infer some things based on their spending habits:
* Constant eating out with a family of six - their food spend must be off the charts. The "cooker man" is likely $150 each time they go.
* Matching clothes - my husband and I are financially very comfortable, but clothing twins is EXPENSIVE. I scour Facebook marketplace and my twin groups for used clothes in addition to the new clothes we buy, because kids don't need fancy clothes, they need clothes to explore and play in! I cringe at what I spend on clothes for my boys, but I'd guess they're easily spending $1k+ a month on clothing their "miracles."
* Constant traveling - since they don't have "rill" jobs, I'm sure they're footing the bill for all that traveling. Hey GQS - when you have a "rill" job and go on real work trips, it's free! If you're paying for it, it's not a work trip.
* NANNY. If they're paying her a living wage and paying taxes (as they should with household staff), they're spending upwards of $4k a month.
3. They're narcissists who care about themselves, and their children always come second. Their response to the comments about properly buckling their "miracles" in their carseats this week was atrocious. The Scotts have had similar comments, and thanked viewers and made the adjustments. Honestly, I'm sure it's embarrassing to have that stuff pointed out to you. But if you can't take a step back and make the adjustments for the SAFETY OF YOUR KIDS, you have a major problem.
So all of this boils down to one realization for me this morning. Ultimately, they don't have the intelligence to realize any of this. They're just ignorant people who will make excuses and keep doing what they're doing, because they care about money and "fame," not their children. Honestly, I don't think they CAN change, because I think they fundamentally lack the self-awareness to take a step back and really look at themselves.
Rant over. Back to your regularly scheduled snarking.
Everything you say is spot on. They are very lucky to be making money from vlogging, but they are lazy vloggers and don’t even have the skills to do it properly.
I know many people dislike the Binghams but their vlog content is superior to the Gardners. Brandon Bingham seems to work, reaching out to sponsors and making contacts to further their channels.
The Bennett’s, obnoxious as they are, have a lot more subscribers. You never see Jason sitting around in the background, he is always working at something - if not working at the house, he is out meeting with sponsors etc. He recently took his eldest daughter, who also vlogs, to China on a business trip to develop merchandising for her channel.
The Gardners are so entitled. They expect everyone to come to them and want to work with them. When it comes to subscriber numbers, they aren’t even that successful really. They are delusional if they think this is going to last. They have become so rude and arrogant and it’s really not a good image to portray.
I sorry genuinely for the future of the girls
