Re: DailyStagedAndConfused (Part 90)
I just couldn't believe Missy stood on the table screaming while making Ollie catch and kill the spider. My dad taught me not to be afraid of bugs when I was growing up. She's teaching Ollie to be afraid of spiders and to kill them. Unless it's a black widow or a brown recluse, there's no need to kill it. And I don't get why they take one outside and let it go, and kill this one?
I did catch a mouse and let it go once. And once, my cat brought me a half dead mouse (what can I say, he loved me?) That did freak me out. Rats freak me out, big time. Don't like roaches. But spiders and mice? Meh.

So guess what Ollie's favorite scene in the live action Beauty and the Beast movie is? Bet you can't guess... "Kill the Beast" he runs around with his sword, whacking at thin air. And Bryan eggs him on, growling, and yelling *Kill the Beast!"

I just don't understand why she has to make this poor kid afraid of everything. He should be able to know the difference between real danger vs creepy thing. Missy's reactions to things tell him danger is everywhere. Like, should you pick up a random spider and cuddle it? No. But there's no reason to scream and freak out. Same thing with bees. I used to be terrified of spiders (ok i still am) and bees, but it's something you can grow out of with conscious effort. She needs to stop scaring these kids. Even if you ARE scared, you stay calm for kids, even if it's a legitimately scary situation.lmmomSD wrote:I just couldn't believe Missy stood on the table screaming while making Ollie catch and kill the spider. I do wonder how she went from helping get a big, black spider onto a paper plate to release outside, to screaming on a chair and making her child kill a spider. What the heck!
There is a poem about killing a small house spider that wasn't a threat and the end lines are, "I don't think I'm allowed to kill something because I am frightened". Both the metaphorical meaning and the literal meaning are great. It changed my life lol Missy should read it.
Re: DailyStagedAndConfused (Part 90)
I'm not surprised. But at the same time, my niece's favorite song is Kill the Beast I can't blame her or Ollie, it is very catchy. She doesn't run around with a sword like Ollie, though...I don't understand why everything has to be violent (and I know this is a bad word) for him. It would be okay if he liked the song, but why pretend to kill the Beast? Sigh.lmmomSD wrote:So guess what Ollie's favorite scene in the live action Beauty and the Beast movie is? Re: DailyStagedAndConfused (Part 90)
I would be so sad if my sister referred to me as "my sister" around my nephews. I live far away like Bev and only get to see them for about a week out of the year. I'll admit I'm not a frequent DB watcher but what I have seen of the way they treat Bryan's side of the family is sad. Even Bryan acts like they're distant as if they were cousins meeting for the first time. Complete night and day difference from Missy's family.

Re: DailyStagedAndConfused (Part 90)
I get that it's catchy. When my daughter was little, Mulan has just come out on video, and she and her best friend sang along with "I'll Make a Man Out Of You" (it was too cute "Let's get down to bid-nis. To dafeet da Hun!") But they didn't run around with swords either. He's _always_ got that sword in his hand now. When he's just watching a movie, he has the sword. And didn't Missy say he took the sword to the doctors office "In case someone hurts me"? Not ok.tintin15 wrote:I'm not surprised. This is how you know Bryan isn't a real singer. If singing is your passion, taking breaks isn't enjoyable (maybe taking breaks from a song you've been singing a lot is nice, but then you move onto another song you enjoy). You take breaks when your voice needs to rest, and even then, it's out of necessity and not enjoyment.francis3125 wrote://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201707 ... c734ee.png
I would like to see him take voice lessons and talk about it. Voice lessons can be so enjoyable okay Bryan!!!! I have said this so many times, please take lessons! Also, the warm ups and breathing exercises you have to do REALLY take care of an ego. They make you feel silly and take yourself less seriously, which is a GOOD thing. No one feels cool doing a lip trill LOL.
I would also like to see him cover songs in his vocal range. Even just singing consistently will help his voice. Also, Bryan, if you won't take lessons and you're reading, here's some tips to help things besides the quality and range of your voice...breathe in your tummy so you can hold notes and support them so they sound nice, and over-pronounce your words so everyone can understand you!
PS. No more throat coat, unless you are sick. Drink water.

Kill the beast is better than when the lorax came out and my son would sing "let 'em die -let 'em die -let 'em shrivel up and die" ..he would break out in that EVERYWHERE

Bryan is still saying "my sister" instead of Aunt Bev. So weird.

I hope they know the boys have no chance of ever being close in the future if they keep comparing Ollie and Finn and how much better, smarter, faster Ollie is at everything than Finn is.
It won't be long til they start telling Finn "You should be like your brother and blah blah blah" Which builds up resentment towards Ollie and along with Ollie's already crappy personality will probably build a rift.

Re: DailyStagedAndConfused (Part 90)
"He's been on a bedtime strike and a nap strike for the last few days, and it's been really rough". Yeah, because maybe he doesn't need 4 hours of naps a day, and what kid wants to stop playing and go to bed when it's bright out, and everyone else is still having fun? You don't just go from roughhousing to "time for bed, let's go". You do some quieter play, maybe a bath, cuddle, read stories, and then go to bed. It's called a bedtime routine. Look into it. It's _starting_ to get dark around 7 here. The sun was still bright outside, so it couldn't have been much past 6 at the latest.
And yes, it's weird that Bryan is still referring to Bev as "my sister". She has a relationship with the boys too! Is only Cassie allowed to be an aunt?
I could have gone all day without a close-up of Jimmy's hairy back. I'm sorry-- I like Jimmy. But hairy backs are just icky to me.
Please Bryan, don't sing anymore. What was the "haha" after the comment about "enjoying the break"?

Seriously. I hope they stop comparing the boys when Finn is old enough to understand. It doesn't matter that it's little things like "oh, Ollie was a better swimmer". It's very painful for a child, especially if they are still comparing when the boys are teenagers. That's already a vulnerable, difficult time, the added assurance that you're not as great as someone else makes it 10x worse. I was compared to my siblings and it can really destroy you. It would be one thing if they said "Ollie got teeth at this age, Finn got teeth at this age", but they are comparing skills and personality factors (like waking up happy).KaterTot wrote:I hope they know the boys have no chance of ever being close in the future if they keep comparing Ollie and Finn and how much better, smarter, faster Ollie is at everything than Finn is.

Re: DailyStagedAndConfused (Part 90)
They also say "Finn is such a better eater than Ollie". They should stop for sure or the boys will have some major issues going forward. I can say I've been guilty of this with my boys and need to stop. And omg my mother in law drives me crazy with the comparisons. It's just human nature and I don't think they are doing it because they love Ollie more. They are just comparing Finn to him because Ollie came first and it's human nature to compare.
