New Zealand is doing it right. Proud to be a kiwi.
We are self isolating in our “bubble” - anyone you live with. Whoever and where ever you went to bed on Wednesday night is who you are (essentially) stuck with for the next four weeks (minimum). We can leave the house to go for a walk from our houses, we cant drive to parks or beaches or anywhere that you are likely to touch items others have touched - playgrounds are completely off the table.
One member of the family can go to the supermarket, pharmacy or medical centre- for essentials only.
Instructions are to sanitise your hands before and after supermarket, gloves and masks are pointless unless you change them between touches (eg in the supermarket you would have to change them between products) or have properly fitted PPE. PPE is really only useful for medical staff on the front line, it is wasteful and not useful for regular Joe bloggs to use doing the groceries.
Hand washing is essential and key. Avoiding touching your face is key.
Come home and change clothes (wash them) and shower. Avoid touching your face while out, if you can’t shower on your return, wash your hands and face well.

They're only talking about 14 days because that's what the President said. Most people I know are planning on it taking longer. But our President wants the country "rarin' to go, with packed churches" by Easter.Tulip24 wrote:Aside from putting others in danger from getting COVID19 by not properly self isolating, does anyone else here think that maybe the fatners are just hoping one of the cats gets the virus because the would mean more views and ka-ching that means more money.
I also don’t understand there view on only socially isolating themselves for 14 days, um the virus is still out there as everyone is a potential carrier of it, so by going out unnecessarily they can still catch it or spread it, especially with the constant conveyor belt of people coming through the house, the popping out to get take away etc. They need to realize that socially isolating themselves is the new normal for anything up to the next 4-6 months, Don’t Go Out Unless Absolutely Necessary. That’s what we have been told here in Melbourne, Australia, this is to protect the elderly and those with chronic medical conditions like Rabbit and Abbie and so many more of you lovely ladies here. More proof that Typork and horseface are both as dumb as dog shit and so fucking selfish.

Yes Haulnarse the kiwi’s are doing the right thing and congrats to you and your government for taking the stand and following the guidelines. I see the UK is essentially shutdown and some other European countries are also self isolating properly.Haulnarse wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 4:20 pm New Zealand is doing it right. Proud to be a kiwi.

I just got off a telehealth call with my respiratory specialist as we can’t visit the public hospital clinics for the time being, he said they expect this virus to continue on for at least the next 6 months and to stay as isolated as possible.
If everyone did the right thing then it could slow the progression right down but sadly many people think it’s a joke and ignore it. All the best across the ditch there in NZ. Stay safe everyone

I have been following a bit of what’s being said by Trump in the news and I’m not sure what to make of it. I think Trump is a bit of a lose cannon and is not very smart but many Americans could possibly die if they follow his advice and pack the churches out over Easter and have the country up and running again, I mean no offense to any of his supporters thoughlmmomSD wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 5:54 pmThey're only talking about 14 days because that's what the President said. I know A & T are not very smart but surely they can see that every person who is carrying this virus will all be in different stages of contagion on any given day, so 14 days is useless.

Just to be fair, President Trump never said that. He did say it would be wonderful if this was over by Easter. Just trying to be optimistic & hopeful. I hope we will be able to enjoy Easter. I would love to be able to attend Mass on Easter Sunday. Pretty sure it won’t happen, though. My teacher son found out today that his school won’t return until April 20.lmmomSD wrote:They're only talking about 14 days because that's what the President said. President Trump just said, live, opening businesses & relaxing social distances by Easter would possibly be doable for some places. Definitely not everywhere. I agree with him
Mainly it’s all up to the Governors which is how it should be.

At this stage we will be *lucky* if this is over by Easter 2021. No jokes. We are in it for the long haul.Howlin17 wrote:Just to be fair, President Trump never said that. The data suggests China aren’t properly recording deaths or cases, already immune compromised people and elderly are being recorded of dying of old age/whatever medical complication they have. Data projections indicates there is in excess of 150,000 deaths from covid-19 in china. That lack of accuracy is going to seriously impact other Countries response time to this.

The US has already surpassed the Chinese recorded cases of the virus.
We won't be open for Easter. Or we shouldn't be.

We've canceled everything for April and I think most likely our non-essential May Doctor's appointments will be canceled too. This, unfortunately, is just getting started. It will get way worse than it already is before it gets better.

I think the general consensus is that all in all, Asian countries such as South Korea and Thailand, have handled the situation superbly. It has also been said that in retrospect, China may actually have handled it much more efficiently than it was first believed they were doing.
I think the main differences between Asia and Western countries was the amount of testing carried out, as well as the compliance of the citizens there. They all did what they were told, as soon as they were told to do it. That has been more difficult to achieve in Western countries.

People will either love or hate my request but could we PLEASE move away from politics. Political talks never go well especially during a time of stress. Some will agree with how it’s handled some will completely disagree, this is not the place for it. Let’s stick to the reason we are all here....

Perhaps the tub o' lard views fasting as a continuum. So instead of eating all dozen donuts in the box, he only eats 10. Or perhaps they will buy the girls kid sized mills (meals) when they go to the Cookerman instead of the full adult sized mills the are used to.
And no, a bunch of overweight, overfed people skipping a mill or two is not going to do anything, but it may mean there is some food in the supermarket that day for those in their community who need it.
Perhaps their efforts could be better spent checking in on elderly or sick neighbours in quarantine and buying them some groceries. Or, wait, here's a controversial idea STAY HOME. It's not that hard.

I really feel for you sissies in the US for lots of reasons that I don't want to go into too deeply because they really are beyond the scope of this forum and would be deemed political. In short, I hope the those without adequate health insurance are able to access good quality healthcare at this time, a decent safety net is provided for all citizens so no one loses their homes (especially those already living poverty) and a consistent coordinated approach to contain the virus is rolled out across the country.
I hope you are all safe and well. Take care. xxx

Re: GQS: Chronicles of Narn: The Bison, The Bitch and The Endless Chores| Part 69
Thanks you to everyone who have sent me best wishes. Alternatively, my very best wishes go out to Rabbit and all those experiencing health issues at the moment. I'm getting there slowly.
My computer died and had to wait for my son to rescue an old one of his. What a drama. All my passwords lost, all my bookmarks. Life is so hard. lol.
I'm going to start my lengthy bitch session from the end. You have to ask how fucking stupid can one family be. Mimi turns up, hugs all the girls continuously but refuses to go into the house because, you know, isolation. We can see where Asswitt gets her smarts from. I've seen grandparents holding up signs in windows to their grandchildren so what part of isolation do these people not get. FFS.
The windbag at it again on his IG. There is no way he wrote that and if he did why is he only now talking about the 'hardship' of two partners working from home and the trials and tribulations that brings. Oh, that would be because they are hardly ever home.
You know my kids were little buggers when they were toddlers, had the obligatory Mona Lisa on the bedroom wall with shit from a nappy (diaper), cereal dropped on the floor and they and the dog enjoyed it straight from the floor. But they were about 2 - 3. Two years old. In what person's imagination do 5 year old's spill cereal all over the floor in the pantry, in the bedroom along with nuts and whatever else they spilt. Also throwing a nebuliser on the floor, full of water drenching everything under it, let alone the electrical issue it could have caused or fire. And then getting into Asswitt's makeup and making a mess. There are three adults in that house so what the fuck is going on. These girls are over 5 years old so I'm curious as to what is going on for them that they have to display these behaviours.
I know you all know what I'm going to say next. These girls are 5 years and 4 months old. Why are two of them still in diapers at night, why are they put in them late afternoon and often till late in the morning. If they have an issue, fine, but surely she would have asked for advice if that were the case. Otherwise, it is simply laziness on their part and neglect for not letting them into the bathroom at night. I noticed one of them still had one on at breakfast in the dining area at Disney. That is just inexcusable.
Whew, I'm nearly there. I still have concerns for Esme's fear factor. She was scared out of her poor little brain at some of the rides she was forced to go on, her fear at Disney whatever when the fake storm come on and yet they just laugh at her. Also, why are they still being carried around like toddlers. Let them grow some independence FFS and stop coddling them in the wrong ways. Use that energy to actually teach them how to speak properly. I don't know if Asswitt and Fatass have noticed, but they shouldn't have to interpret their sentences for everyone to understand. By this age they should be able to speak so people can understand them instead of being almost incoherent. But I can hardly understand a word they say.
That's all I have to say for a while. Please stay safe everyone, these are scary times and we all have to look out for and look after each other. Rabbit, Happy for you to DM anytime to want to have a vent.

Good morning everyone! Just a friendly pop in with my mod hat on.
please keep politics off the board. I know times are scary, I know everyone has a political leaning... this is not the place for that discussion.
In perfect conditions, political discussions can run off the rails quickly. We are currently in the midst of a global pandemic; emotions are high, let’s just not add fuel to that fire by bringing politics into the midst. (Rule H, for anyone that needs concrete reasoning)
Please don’t take this as me calling anyone out. I’m not. This is me being proactive to protect everyone.
As always, my inbox is open should you need me.
