EXACTLY!! (The class was actually only 7 hours, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.) They are so lazy and they probably didn't want to take the bus! But, jeez, the class was for their baby!! And they did have the option to take the course over a few weeks, but they probably waited too long for that option.HashtagBlessed wrote:LOL to them complaining about an 8 hour birthing class. Re: Steps to Wander
How the heck did they forget to reschedule the birthing center tour??? Once again, I'm sure they were lazy, forgot and now it's too late. They are such idiots! I am SO glad I don't have to deal with Kelsey or Corbin during their visits and stay at the hospital...they seem like entitled jerks! Those poor doctors, nurses and staff. And they are totally unprepared because they can't seem to be adults!

As much of a whiner as she is, and the way they didn't even want to spend the time at birthing class, I bet she has a couple of contractions, and the "natural birth" idea goes right out the window.ewokfan11 wrote:How the heck did they forget to reschedule the birthing center tour??? Can't wait to see her in transition: Corbin will be ineffectually stroking her arm, and when he calls her "my love", she's going to hit him. "Stop fu*king calling me that!"

My guess is going to be that she'll start having contractions and convince Corbin to call an ambulance so they don't have to call an Uber, Lyft, or cab, or wait for the bus.

Re: Steps to Wander
I wouldn't be surprised if a family member lends them another car soon. They're only about 3 miles from the hospital, but what a pain to not have your own transportation to get there and back. Is Corbin just going to stay in the hospital with them the entire time? Or maybe Kelsey's mom is coming out??PopTheButterfly wrote:My guess is going to be that she'll start having contractions and convince Corbin to call an ambulance so they don't have to call an Uber, Lyft, or cab, or wait for the bus.

I don't think they thought being carless would be as much of a hassle as it obviously is for them. I don't think they've taken the bus once without complaining about it - that's why they hardly ever leave their apartment and neighborhood. (And why they have no food in the fridge...hard to grocery shop via bus!!!! There's a Trader Joe's about a mile-and-a-half from their apartment, but I don't think they've even been there because they don't have a car. What are they going to do for shopping when the baby gets here??)

Re: Steps to Wander
They can do what low income families did in my old neighborhood: you buy a mini cart and you take that with you to go grocery shopping. It doesn't hold much, but it's the only way they can get their groceries to and from because they legitimately can't afford a car.ewokfan11 wrote:I wouldn't be surprised if a family member lends them another car soon. Re: Steps to Wander
Why does Kelsey freak out about the ultrasound appointment and then admit she's procrastinating about even MAKING the appointment for the ultrasound??? Because maybe they can't get in? What?! Um, bitch, pick up the damn phone and MAKE the appointment!!!! Why didn't they schedule the appointment while they were already at the office for the checkup? I just don't understand their lack of responsibility.
Yep, Corbin's whining about the bus AGAIN ("it's so hard, you have to take two busses") and taking Lyfts all over instead...jeeeeeez! Lyfts are worse for the environment because the Lyft driver has to go out of his/her way to pick them up! Well, at least they finally managed to get groceries.
I had to chuckle when Kelsey admitted she's giving up on preparing meals in advance and just going to eat Trader Joe's frozen food (and probably lots of take-out). They eat nothing but trashy, processed junk food! I can't believe they call themselves healthy, organic and sustainable, etc.
They are Bryan and Missy, just taller, poorer and living in Portland.

Re: Steps to Wander
It seemed like she was trying to exercise and be healthy at certain points in the pregnancy but I didn't see a lot of consistency and discipline. Mac and cheese and apple sauce for dinner? That would not pass for a meal in my house. It's just more sugar, with no protein or veggies. It's strange, because exercising and eating right throughout a pregnancy are basic recommendations for having a successful natural birth. Planning to eat out and eat packaged frozen meals after baby comes means a whole lot of sodium compared to home cooked meals.
She really shouldn't procrastinate with scheduling the ultrasound. It could be nothing, or it could be something like low amniotic fluid. Couldn't she have scheduled it on her way out? I couldn't figure out why they didn't have an ultrasound appointment on the books by the end of the day if their midwife appointment was that morning. I'm really wondering what Kelsey does all day. Order stuff from Amazon?

Re: Steps to Wander
Notice how they're now saying the impetus is on the "ultrasound people" to call them to schedule an appointment. Maybe that's standard practice, but I've never had a procedure or doctor's appointment where I'm waiting for the office to call me to schedule an appointment. Do they not have a scheduling assistant or receptionist? I can't imagine going to a practice that doesn't have an ultrasound technician. If something is abnormal, they have to wait for a referral to do a "formal" ultrasound. Something to think about along with the ambiance and the tea selection.

Re: Steps to Wander
She's flat-out lying. The women's center she's going to is affiliated with the largest hospital system in Portland (their office isn't within the hospital complex where she's giving birth - but it's close by). There would be NO reason she couldn't have scheduled the appointment when she was there the other day and I'm 100% sure they returned her call (if she did call) because it's a real hospital-affiliated office - with real receptionists and office staff. There's no reason the midwife herself would call to schedule the appointment.HashtagBlessed wrote:Notice how they're now saying the impetus is on the "ultrasound people" to call them to schedule an appointment. The new ND they picked seems decent. Her background is more impressive than expected.

I don't know how two able-bodies can so comfortably accepting gifts from strangers. Oh wait, based on what they asked their families to buy for the baby, it should not be a surprise. They even use the gifts as contents for their vlogs. Without the mail opening segment, the vlog would have been only four minutes long!! I really don't know what their supporters see that I don't. I must be a cynic.

Re: Steps to Wander
My guess is the baby shower is this weekend, so they are traveling to Idaho or Missy is flying in on Friday - the same day they mentioned they "could" get an appointment for the ultrasound.
Expensive gifts and potential HUGE views are way more important to them than the ultrasound! They are really pathetic!!!

Re: Steps to Wander
I am not an expert in midwives or how their affiliation with hospitals work, but my guess is that since the midwife practice doesn't have a sonographer/ultrasound technician on site, she has to refer her to the either another doctor's office or the hospital itself for a real ultrasound. That might be why the process is more time consuming. It's possible the midwife has to submit an electronic request with documentation and then the hospital staff have to review and reach out for scheduling. It might just be an inconvenience of working with a midwife rather than an OBGYN.
Kelsey and Corbin don't seem to understand that the stomach measuring smaller than it should for her dates might mean low amniotic fluids, it doesn't necessarily have to do whether or not you "feel" like the baby is getting bigger or the number of times you go to the bathroom, as Kelsey was saying. Did the midwife even explain this to them?
They honestly don't seem to have the best working relationship with their midwife practice, for whatever reason. The miscommunication about the glucose test and the never rescheduled hospital tour come to mind. That might be on Kelsey and Corbin's end, it might just be a less than stellar practice, or maybe it has to do with the fact that she wasn't a patient until she was halfway through her pregnancy.
Yep, Corbin mentioned something about them wanting to get this checked out before she flew. I think she's flying to Idaho this weekend for her baby shower and that's why she's nervous about squeezing in the ultrasound appointment in time. Seems risky to have a baby shower scheduled for after the 35 week mark, since the cut-off for flying is 36 weeks.

Re: Steps to Wander
I just didn't want to link to the place they are going to, but it's totally part of the bigger hospital system - and there are at least two OB/GYNs who work at the women's clinic they are going to, not just midwives and doulas. It's not some little hippie clinic. Even if she needed to go to the bigger hospital, they are all on the same system and she could get an appointment easily scheduled.HashtagBlessed wrote:I am not an expert in midwives or how their affiliation with hospitals work, but my guess is that since the midwife practice doesn't have a sonographer/ultrasound technician on site, she has to refer her to the either another doctor's office or the hospital itself for a real ultrasound. I think it's Kelsey's "fear" of hospitals that keeping them from getting appointments and avoiding classes/tours - and that's only going to make it harder on her in the end.

Re: Steps to Wander
Hate to see what happens when baby needs checkups or has an emergency. I have a fear of heights, but I fly. I also have social anxiety, but I am able to do job interviews and conversate with people. Sometimes you just have to get over your fear and do what's best for your family and you. They'll get a huge wake-up call when that baby comes.ewokfan11 wrote:I just didn't want to link to the place they are going to, but it's totally part of the bigger hospital system - and there are at least two OB/GYNs who work at the women's clinic they are going to, not just midwives and doulas. I found their ND (they didn't hide her office very well) and her office is in a converted house. Unless they have an emergency, I'm guessing they won't step into a hospital again.PopTheButterfly wrote:Hate to see what happens when baby needs checkups or has an emergency.

Re: Steps to Wander
They should just buy a car. If Lyft rides are costing them $60 and they are using it frequently, they can afford a car. They could easily have a payments plan for under $200 a month. The expense of taking Lyft/taxis all the time AND buying public transportation tickets or monthly passes probably adds up to way more than a car payment would cost them.

Exactly. If they stuck to buses or walking they'd be saving tons of money, but because the bus is "inconvenient" they're paying for luxury and thus it costs more.fossilfinger wrote:They should just buy a car. Not having a car with a newborn seems insane to me. How are they going to properly install her car seat in each lyft car? Those car seats are meant to be installed and then left alone. What is she going to do when she goes into labor?
