Bonnie and Joel: Kidses Family Vacation (Part 10)
Re: Bonnie and Joel: Kidses Family Vacation (Part 10)
I believe as long as their channel is growing in views and subs, they'll keep on the same path. They have a core audience that likes them where they've survived the transition Joel being home and the only present deserve critical remarks from their viewers is questioning the close contact Bonnie has with her children during an outbreak with HSV-1. It is a lost cause.
I might have done vacation differently since I don't feel qualify in the middle of a school year to teach my children elementary education. It is a risk to their education going forwards I wouldn't take when I know we could go in the summer even with the increase cost and it is more crowded. These two can afford the cost too. You can plan ahead with crowds also by attending tourist spots early in the day and this is just being a parent with school age kids in regards to traveling in the summer you're not alone since with other kids out of school. Bonnie simply didn't want to wait which is a questionable parenting decision. But like an earlier remark said, the kids deserve this trip and this is a reference to how they work for their parent's income too. An abstract thought kids=income with all vloggers not just Bonnie and Joel.
We shall see how they are at the end of the vacation.

Bonnie and Joel: Kidses Family Vacation (Part 10)
Anyway....
I don't really care what hairstyle kids have as long as the are happy and their hair isn't a mess. Messy hair and faces (and clothes) when kids are out of the house does get side-eyed by me. I don't care about style personally because I have a kid that has his own style and does what he wants, and I think it's better to let him be him than to force him go with the latest trends. I have never shaved his head because that's not my style, but if that's what he wanted I'd be fine with it.
My only fault with the Hoellein kids' hair is, like Winnie said, when Bonnie doesn't have Cody's hair done. If they are going to have a fancy style, then try to do their hair most of the time (and don't complain of its within your power to change it).

Everyone relates themselves to stories in regards to Bonnie to defend their position of like or dislike. I haven't even been here that long and I already know by now who has kids, who teaches kids, where people live, how people parent, etc.Blehmieux wrote:i literally don't understand this dogpiling of parkerwar because she didn't even say anything negative about people who defend bonnie, she didn't say nobody can defend bonnie, she just threw in a little reminder not to take criticism of bonnie to heart if you relate to her (because people HAVE been projecting comments here onto themselves today). the responses to parkerwar are more "drama" than her original post lol. i am kinda just reading this in awe that a small comment like that ignited such a heated response, but what else is new in the bonnie thread

Personal experience is relevant to discussion and it does have a place on these boards. Without it, you have unbiased hate and criticism and everyone posting just looks crazy in my opinion. I don't see why posters get so annoyed by any defence of Bonnie anyway. Everyone is welcome to their own opinion.
I did feel Parkerwar was an attempt to dismiss certain comments though, so I can see how others might have felt attacked.
Re: Bonnie and Joel: Kidses Family Vacation (Part 10)
I don't think by styling her kids hair, she's telling them only appearance matters. I think it's more of a "take pride in yourself" approach. It's very traditional and Mormon of them, but too many people go around like they just rolled out of bed these days. Wearing clean clothes and putting some gel in your hair isn't vain.

Re: Bonnie and Joel: Kidses Family Vacation (Part 10)
I totally agree with all of this. If she is going to complain or bring it up constantly, she should have gone about things differently. She was so anxious to get to Hawaii and "couldn't wait" until summer, yet she has to be reminded that she's in Hawaii in order to feel grateful.lmmomSD wrote:I'm on the fence on this. I think if she's going to be all obsessed about Joel having the "same experience", and that it is "so different with kids" ( duh-- what did she expect?) that she did, to the point where she's mentioned it several times in the last couple of days, and where Joel has to remind her that they're in Hawaii, and to be grateful, then yeah, she should have taken a short trip with just him, and done the month with the kids later.HelloSweetie wrote:I don't think they should have done a trip without the kids. I think if they had people would say they have changed and should have taken the kids to Disneyland. This is their first big holiday with kids and it isn't going to be 100% relaxation. With kids, it never will. They could have waited a few years and it might have been easier, but it still wouldn't have been what Bonnie built up in her mind. That whole expectation vs reality thing she's said before. I'll admit, I've done that.
I don't agree that the little ones should have stayed home. I think they should find a sitter for when hey want to go on bigger excursions, but I think there is value on the little ones going too. I just personally never like it when people take big trips and leave their kids all the time.
And the hair is just a personal preference. But complaining about how long it's taking to get ready, then sitting there spiking individual hairs on a 3 year olds head, just strikes me as silly. But that's me. Maybe the boys would rather have a buzz cut. Has she asked them? It's vacation. If it makes me lazy to have buzzed my son's hair at the beginning of summer, I guess I'm lazy. But he loved it. If he hated it, I wouldn't have done it. I only brought up the hair because she was talking about how hard it was getting them out the door. I've always thought it was silly to give a preschooler a haircut that requires more than one product to make it look OK. But that's just me. I really don't mean to offend people who have those cuts for their kids. Sorry if I did.

Re: Bonnie and Joel: Kidses Family Vacation (Part 10)
I gotta agree. For example, people got all spun about the hair as if we were talking about them, and said if you buzz cut your kids, you're "lazy". I was talking about Bonnie specifically, because she complained about getting the kids ready, then showed herself spiking individual hairs on Boston's head. I'm not talking about any other moms here, and I am happy to hear other opinions on it, but can do without the insults.Blehmieux wrote:i literally don't understand this dogpiling of parkerwar because she didn't even say anything negative about people who defend bonnie, she didn't say nobody can defend bonnie, she just threw in a little reminder not to take criticism of bonnie to heart if you relate to her (because people HAVE been projecting comments here onto themselves today). the responses to parkerwar are more "drama" than her original post lol. i am kinda just reading this in awe that a small comment like that ignited such a heated response, but what else is new in the bonnie thread

Re: Bonnie and Joel: Kidses Family Vacation (Part 10)
I buzzed boys hair and put girls hair in ponies just because it was hot. No one complained, it saved money and some have shorter hair to this day. That was the part I like with boys is their hair was so easy.
If given a choice, I would choose going to Hawaii over going to Disney. They are making the most of this trip trying to gear it towards kids and so far it is working. Having a townhouse, they can go out and do things part of the day, come home give the kids a rest time or nap and go out in the evening. I am leaving my opinion to the end whether there is enough to do or this trip is too long until I see how it goes.
I think they've chosen a great location with the beach. It looks beautiful and not too crowded. For those in Hawaii, my biggest regret was not going to the other islands. Do you think this is something they should do?

Re: Bonnie and Joel: Kidses Family Vacation (Part 10)
Bonnie is a hair stylist so Im not surprised that she cares about hair. Everyone has their preferences.
i have said it before but this trip was impulsive. Bonnie had this idea of what the trip could be and it obviously can't be the same trip as with girlfriends. You have a 4 kids, it won't be easy. Personally, I think it's kind of sad that she had the kids "saving up" for disney but could go to Hawaii so easily. I agree with whoever said they should have gone on a trip alone if Bonnie wanted joel to have the same experience as her. My parents went to hawaii for a week without my brother and I and we're fine.

I wonder if the saving up is just so they don't waste their money. We always have our oldest save up for trips, but then ultimately when we do go we never actually let him use his money except maybe on toys and stuff.Denlillehavfrue wrote:Bonnie is a hair stylist so Im not surprised that she cares about hair. I love Disney, but I'm glad they did Hawaii instead because I really don't want to see them with DB yet, and I think Disney would be better in 6 months to a year when Boston is a bit taller and big enough to go on most of the same rides that Cody and Olivia can go on. He's probably a touch too short for rides like Autopia and Matterhorn still, but Cody and Olivia wouldn't be.

Re: Bonnie and Joel: Kidses Family Vacation (Part 10)
I do feel bad for Bonnie a little. She's trying to recreate her girls' trip even down to going to the same restaurants, and that just can't happen with the kids in tow. That must be kind of hard to see her husband struggle with the same everyday problems on vacation when trying to give him a carefree trip like she had.

Re: Bonnie and Joel: Kidses Family Vacation (Part 10)
I have to say that while there are some significant things I disagree with about Bonnie and Joel's parenting (mainly safety and nutrition- related) I really think they're mostly quite lovely to watch with their kids. I didn't notice anything particularly whiny about this vlog or anything really annoying; rather, it showed to me an average family having a normal (actually more exciting than normal) vacation with 4 normal kids having a good and sometimes not-so-good time. I really just like this family. I think they're one of the best vloggers out there.
Re: Bonnie and Joel: Kidses Family Vacation (Part 10)
Same. Cody's hair is fine either styled or unstyled, in my opinion, but at least keep it so it's not hanging in his face and eyes when she doesn't style it. Snip an extra inch. It is an easy fix.winniewise wrote:What kills me about Cody's hair is when she doesn't fix it, it's in his eyes. I don't understand why she doesn't cut the front part just a tiny bit shorter, then she can still style it like she likes and it wouldn't get in his eyes when it's not styled.

Bonnie's channel is the one I don't miss and I like her early time she uploads. I kinda think she is doing pretty well with four kids going out and so far no consistent kid melt downs. Bonnie seems to be planning out the day and that is always a good thing with younger kids. There is no need to rush with a month visit either and one nice thing about the beach is kids get real tired and sleep well. Lincoln was a good example in the vlog today.natalka81 wrote:I have to say that while there are some significant things I disagree with about Bonnie and Joel's parenting (mainly safety and nutrition- related) I really think they're mostly quite lovely to watch with their kids. Re: Bonnie and Joel: Kidses Family Vacation (Part 10)
I do hope that since they're going to be there a month, she pushes the boundaries a little and tries some other restaurants. She's determined to make Joel eat not only at the same restaurants but order the same things! You just can't "recreate" a girl's trip with your family. It's still going to be amazing and memorable, but it's gonna be different. Period. It's such an obsessive thing with her. Just accept that it's going to be different. And that's OK. Different doesn't mean bad!winniewise wrote:I do feel bad for Bonnie a little. I didn't think those girls on the "girls trip" were all that great or good company LOL. Perhaps they'll get a babysitter and go out some evenings for dinner.lmmomSD wrote:I do hope that since they're going to be there a month, she pushes the boundaries a little and tries some other restaurants. Re: Bonnie and Joel: Kidses Family Vacation (Part 10)
in the first hawaii vlog bonnie mentioned getting the hawaiian ivf grant couple (forget their names) to babysit the kids sometime during the trip. it's a bit sketchy to me to get borderline strangers to babysit your kids, but i guess that's how it goes for most people who live in large towns/cities? i'm just not used to it because i'm from a town of less than 2000 people and everyone knows everyone lol

I just love how babies/toddlers sleep like that with their little butts in the air. It's next to impossible as an adult to be comfortable that way!kaylnoel wrote:This was my favorite part of the vlog today! He's seriously one of the cutest babies.
