Not in Utah - but Bratayley’s are awful too. They went to LA for months on old, and left the dogs, bunny and horse with someone else. Now they are buying a house in LA.... just to bring the dogs there, and promote their daughters career.lmmomSD wrote:Yeah, it's not just Utah vloggers. Bryan and Missy are terrible pet owners. So is Shay, except for the great Danes. Lots of vloggers are bad pet owners. I think it's because they're selfish and focused on appearances.Kryptonite wrote:whimsy7 wrote:Have they mentioned anything more about the health of Nolly recently?
Today's vlog not only broke my heart but it also completely enraged me to see the struggle Nolly was having while trying to walk on the patio behind Eve. Are they still not seeking veterinary care for her? I know there were lots of issue and concern a short while ago at the fact they weren't doing anything about her health.
As someone who works with dogs every day, it absolutely pains me to watch that. The poor girl :'( (and yes, I did create an account just to write this....however, i've been a lurker for quite some time, so I'm sure i'll be joining in from now on)
Welcome! It's nice to see a new name here!
I'm glad you brought this up. I can barely stand to watch the Nolly parts. She is so sweet and patient. They are so lucky to have her but they treat her like a discarded stuffed animal. She's no longer young and spry and they're bored with her. They wanted a puppy but didn't consider the issues labs have in their senior years.
It is a trend - at least among the Griffiths - that family vloggers don't know how to properly care for their pets. Ugh.

Thanks for the welcomes and the replies! I'm glad it's not just me who is angered by their treatment of Nollie. You're right, there are so many youtubers who are awful pet owners (bratayleys make my blood boil, don't even get me started with them).
I also don't think Nollie will be here much longer, to be quite honest I think she would welcome passing away like a long lost friend, probably the only comfort she will have felt for years. They don't deserve a single ounce of her loyalty. You only have to watch them when they are leaving the house....she sits in her bed in the middle of the hallway, wagging her tail like the good girl she is, waiting for someone to acknowledge her and nobody ever does, they leave the house without even a sideways glance her way. It absolutely breaks my heart. It seems she has quite rapidly gone downhill since they last brought up her health issues on the vlog. In my experience, you can tell all you need to know about a person, by looking at how they treat their animals (or any animal for that matter). Anyway, I could go on and on and on about this but i'll leave it at that.

Sorry for the double post, but yes Kevin gives me mega creepy vibes, he had a very cold exterior and doesn't give away much outward emotion, kind of robotic....as does Brevin *shudder*

One of us should send in a popsicle stick that reads “send Nolly to the vet” since they said that they will do whatever the stick says!

Hey. I’m also new, I have been lurking for a while but this topic has upset me enough to go to the trouble of making an account.
I agree you learn a lot of people seeing how they treat their animals. Also agree about youtubers in general not taking good care of their animals. Shaytard basically killed kittens by neglect, 8 passengers don’t even acknowledge Nolly, Epik life returned or whatever they did with their “service” puppy. Terrible. Having a pet is not mandatory, not compulsory. Just don’t own one if you’re not willing to meet all their needs: food and roof are not enough. They need vaccines, vet visits, some need exercise and social interaction (dogs specially). It enrages me. And makes me sad
Re: 8 Passengers: No Rules & Private Schools | Part 9
I'm wondering what happened to Julie's swimming? Ruby said she only gets to pick one sport... gym or tennis. I was actually quite impressed with how well Julie was swimming considering she started out as a Franke, barely holding her head out the water and now it's not even an option anymore? Does someone know what I missed?
Also, holy moly, don't have 6 kids if it means your children will be under-educated, living in overcrowded bedrooms, not be taken properly care of when sick or hurt, and not allowed to have more than one hobby. I love how in her head Ruby thinks she is an awesome mother. And no, nobody is perfect, I'm aware.

I agree with Ruby only allowing the kids 1 sport. Sports are really expensive and require a lot of time. If each child did more than 1 there would even more conflicts with scheduling then there is now.

I'm starting to think that she puts them in sport for the vlogs. Abbie went to gymnastic first where she had a bright future but suddenly stopped going even though she loved it as a natural tree climber because Ruby convinced her that she really didn't like it.
Ruby starts projects, engages her kids with excitement but when she gets bored or tired to take them or if it isn't interesting enough for the vlogs she makes them quit and uses valid excuses like I'm a mother of 6, it's hard.

I thought Abby didn’t want to do it? Maybe it was cheer, I remember Ruby signing Julie and Eve up for something and Julie really wanted Abby to do it too but she didn’t want to. Maybe it was cheer and not gymnastics.Namm wrote:I'm starting to think that she puts them in sport for the vlogs. Abby has to stop gymnastics because she got bored, she was too good for the class she was in but Ruby and Kevin refused to let her do the competition classes as it would be too much work so I think she just quit in the end.

To balance things out a little, if you want to watch an amazing doggy owner - look up Nicole Skyes "Skyes vlogs" channel.....she has just adopted a gorgeous pit from a kill shelter (she was literally on the list to be euthanized within hours and they raced to get her) but not only that, the dog also has cancer. They are one of the only youtubers I will happily watch animal/pet vlogs for and don't get angry about!Gigi7 wrote:We should definitely do this!ptumey wrote:One of us should send in a popsicle stick that reads “send Nolly to the vet” since they said that they will do whatever the stick says!

Casey Holmes (I think that's her last name) the one who does all makeup tutorials treats her dogs really well too. And I am pretty sure they're rescue dogs as well. She gets on my nerves, and I don't understand why the cosmetics companies love her so much, but she's a good dog owner.whimsy7 wrote:To balance things out a little, if you want to watch an amazing doggy owner - look up Nicole Skyes "Skyes vlogs" channel.....she has just adopted a gorgeous pit from a kill shelter (she was literally on the list to be euthanized within hours and they raced to get her) but not only that, the dog also has cancer. The Griffiths treat their pets as accessories. They're not family members, that's for sure. My dog drives me crazy sometimes. He's getting old, and weirder all the time. But he's my baby. Ruby and Ellie are terrible pet owners, and Jared, who had a normal loving relationship with his old dog, lets Ellie treat Penny like crap, and that's even worse than what Ruby and Ellie do. They had Chad and Jennifer as examples. Ellie was allowed to _ride_ on her dog. Jared grew up treating his dog like normal people do. He knows what they do is wrong. Yet he knuckles under to Ellie.
Totally personal and OT, but funny: my very best friend has two Collies (rescues) two westies, and a great Dane. Those dogs are so spoiled. If karma and reincarnation are real, I want to be very, very good in this life so that I can come back as one of her dogs.

Re: 8 Passengers: No Rules & Private Schools | Part 9
I recently posted a comparison between j house vlogs and 8 passengers (when they visited) so forgive me if this is repetitive but on their last vlog Caleb from j house (who is, I think, one year younger than Russel or possibly the same age) wrote an entire story with dialogue and a plot which he divided into chapters. Like Russel, his mom homeschooled him. What an amazing difference.

Those J house kids are a joy and Caleb is unique.sasperillo wrote:I recently posted a comparison between j house vlogs and 8 passengers (when they visited) so forgive me if this is repetitive but on their last vlog Caleb from j house (who is, I think, one year younger than Russel or possibly the same age) wrote an entire story with dialogue and a plot which he divided into chapters. Russel wants to learn and develop so it's sad that his mother kept him at home as her company. We shall hope that she doesn't decide to home school Evie.

I brought up Ruby’s pill issue that she has briefly spoken about on Bonnie’s thread and someone asked for more details. I really can’t remember anything lol. Can someone remind me of what all she has said about it/ the timeframe? I’m not totally misremembering this am I?

I read somewhere that Utah's population was one of the biggest uses of prescribed depression/antidepression pills.
