Re: 8 Passengers: Don't Cry Over Lost Footage| Part #11
Just for reference: Dwarfism isn't a slur, it is a genetic condition diagnosed by a doctor, usually marked by small stature and/or disproportionately short limbs. It often comes with medical complications because disproportionately short legs are not structurally designed to accommodate an "average sized" torso and head. Nobody knows if Shari has the condition, and it doesn't really matter. We only see that she shares key physical characteristics, and that she constantly talks about the challenges that brings her. To declare that people with Dwarfism should somehow be "shamed" by their body is terrible. They can't control their height and limbs any more than Shari can.

I found Shari’s track stats. I posted the website but then quickly deleted it because I realized it gave Sharis school name.

Pls avoid indirecting ppl, it's rude.RootBeerFloatie wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2019 6:40 pm I also feel really bad for Shari, as we all should. She was never given proper attention from her parents due to the fact that they couldn't stop popping out kids, has been starved her entire life due to poverty and small portion sizes, she was probably old enough to recognize something being off with her mother during Ruby's stint with pills, she was basically surrogate mother to Eve for many years, she's had her privacy completely violated to the point that she sees nothing wrong with it, and was forced to grow up much younger than she should have. There was a time that she was bright and studious, and dreamed of moving to NYC to study law. No doubt she wanted to escape her strict, controlling mother and the duties of taking care of her toddler sister.
But Ruby has changed as their channel has grown, and she's no longer the slave driver that she was before. She's given the kids a taste of "fame" and the fun vacations and endless perks that come along with it. Imagine being a young teenager knowing that you have a million fans on the internet, and how that would feel. There are young girls who idolize Shari, and of course that's going to go to her head as she transitions from pre-teen to full blown teenager. She's always been set apart from her siblings by being the older one, and was an early source of channel content with things like period videos. She has no privacy and has been conditioned to be okay with that. Gone is the responsible girl who wanted to get away from her mother, because Ruby has molded her into "Shari, the Youtube Star."
Teenage girls are obnoxious, fickle, and self-absorbed. Maybe you weren't, and that's great. I was, my sister was, my friends were. Your daughters or your nieces will be too. And that's okay! That's part of life! That's part of finding yourself, and growing as a person, because despite the person here who said that 16 is "old enough" to know better, it's really not! 16 is still practically a baby in the grand scheme of things. Blame Ruby for putting too much pressure on Shari as a child and then doing a total 180 that I'm sure was confusing to experience. Blame Kevin for being a hands off parent. Blame youtube, blame social media, blame mormon culture, but don't try to sit back and shit all over a 16 year old excited about getting named the captain of her track team. Fuck that noise.
But to the topic - 16 is not a baby, not pre-teen, wth? If a person can drive, i.e. potentially operate killing machine (especially when we talk of vans... Attack in Nice, anyone?), they cannot be considered unable to distinguish right or wrong... A 16yrs old is thus not a "baby" but a person who definitely should know that presenting to the world her sister as her personal slave or proudly announcing being mean to another sister is not a good thing. Mormonism may be a cult, but it's a positive cult, if nowhere else at least in church they would have taught her that is wrong.
You're not doing that kid any favours by diminishing her maturity and intelligence to that of a 10 years old, if that. It's hard to say how smart she is, but I don't think we have a reason to believe she is somehow so much behind what average 16yrs old are capable of everywhere around the world. Stop making her such a victim suffering horribly in her life which holds her back - no, if we talk "in grand scheme of things" as you suggested, then she is living incredibly privileged life and pretending she is suffering so badly is just wrong. Her life, despite being pranced around on yt is better than perhaps 90% of the kids worldwide, if not more. Her opportunities in life, chances for better future far more favourable, being a rich white kid born in USA. Yes there are difficulties in her life brought in by her mother but stop making her into what she is not. She is not starving her whole life? You saying that is incredibly offensive to those who are actually starved... Those kids have awful diets without a doubt, insufficient in certain nutrients and overloaded in sugar, but they are not starving.
Re: 8 Passengers: Don't Cry Over Lost Footage| Part #11
They aren’t starving but, per Ruby’s past comments, they were living in poverty in the past. Part of the reason she serves such tiny portions and heavy carb meals is probably out of habit from those lean years. I can’t imagine the kids’ health and growth didn’t suffer from lack of nutrients, especially when they were in the womb. Yet, she insisted on popping them out one after the other.
Shari’s life has been pretty rough. Sibling after sibling being thrown into an already tense and stretched household. Having to raise your younger sister to the point that you are responsible for all of her needs, including comforting her at bedtime and throughout the night. Losing sleep so your selfish, deadbeat mother can have her beauty sleep and Oreo binge time. Dad who literally acts like a first year university student. Being whored out on YouTube at a young age.

Re: 8 Passengers: Don't Cry Over Lost Footage| Part #11
I’m not sure it’s as bad as you think it is. I can’t speak for losers like the Paul brothers and show offs like tanner fox etc. but as for the family bloggers it seems most of them maintain a pretty healthy lifestyle. Let’s start with Brooklyn and Bailey for example. They are going to college paid for, they now own a brand for JCPenny. You can say they are spoiled but I bet they work harder then you. 8 passengers may not be the most liked family but they get a ton of views. Their kids are in school, they are being taught to save their money and are planning college. They all to very well in theirs sports. The LeRoys, Shanna has already mentioned that Kesley runs, edits and films her own blogs. Or in other words she is 15 and already owns her own business. She also mentioned that Kesley is saving her own money to buy a car and has already saved enough to pay for her first year of college. I don’t know about you but from my perspective these parents are teaching their kids well. It may seem like they are a bit spoiled on camera but I’m sure it’s well deserved with how hard they work.
I have noticed how they have all enjoy many vacations like Disneyland, Greece, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico etc. if you know anything about business all they have to do is vlog this vacation and the trip can be a tax right off. It’s business for them yet you guys get so emotionally invested. I don’t know about you but I never went to Disneyland until I was 30 yrs old. We couldn’t afford it. If you want to change your lifestyle you need to change your perspective first. These kids are living every kids dream with hard work. So with the nature comes hate
I’m not writing this to create hate but just wanted to show a different perspective of YouTube. In all honesty you guys can critique or dish hate all you want but I’m sure they could give a rats a$$ what you think

Actually, only part of the trip can be a tax write off. Also, tax write off does not equal free.
While I agree with many of your points, I also think you’re dismissing a huge issue. These children have had their privacy exploited. Their value has been attributed in large part to “likes” and positive comments from fans. This has messed up so many influencers and former stars that were old enough to realize the risk they were taking. These YT kids have known no other life, and the fall from grace is undoubtedly going to hit them hard. Only a small percentage of them will be able to transform this temporary success into a real future business.
My kids go on a vacation every year . They go to private school, and are free to join any extra curricular they like. My oldest is incredibly hard working, and is a super nice kid on top of that. Good fortune does not always mean you are spoiled, but having everything come easily to you CAN make you become jaded and lose empathy and perspective. The kids need to learn this from their parents, and that’s a hard thing for most of the absent YT parents to teach when they themselves think a hard day is having to get dressed and run errands. Many of these kids are also living in homes with parents that are struggling with depression, and or other mental illnesses. Money isn’t everything. Not at all. My kids are “spoiled” in that they are fortunate and want for nothing, but this also includes their right to privacy. They have it, and no one is exploiting them. Home is a safe space where they can just be themselves. No doubt Gavin Butler looks back on the days that life was simpler and his family was happy and wishes he had that again. Before he had to live with the criticism of his weight, his family’s constant fighting, and the embarrassment of his father’s sex scandal.
Privacy and the ability to be (and accept) yourself is so much more important than money. These kids are forming who they are around who the fans think they should be, and that rarely goes well.

Re: 8 Passengers: Don't Cry Over Lost Footage| Part #11
I completely agree. There comes a point where you have to stop blaming your parents for everything. My parents have always been very emotionally abusive. They weren’t there for me emotionally and I can see how that effected my childhood. I was depressed and suicidal but never received the help I needed because the first time I reached out for help my mother said “Go ahead and kill yourself. That’s your decision. I don’t care” I was a pretty laid back and shy teen so I never said that much. However, there were times I was rude and snarky and would never blame my parents for that. I took my anger out on other people but at 16 I was completely able to distinguish right from wrong.lightasfeather wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2019 5:42 amPls avoid indirecting ppl, it's rude.RootBeerFloatie wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2019 6:40 pm I also feel really bad for Shari, as we all should. Apparently Ruby does not give a shit if strangers know where her children go to school or even live! She might as well give out their school name and address. Stop filming in front of your house and stop filming the sport uniforms. It was one thing when Shari posted a photo on Instagram of herself in a track uniform. I would expect her to see anything wrong with it. I never thought Ruby was the brightest so I don’t know why it shocks me that she uploaded a video of Chad and Shari in their track uniforms. Now, I don’t think anyone would really care to show up to the school or house but why even give people the opportunity?

I feel like Shari foot injuries could be cause by her form. She has terrible running form in the newest video. It was painful to watch.

Ruby clearly doesn’t give a shit considering this was her instagram post just today. It took 0.2 seconds to google the school using the uniform name and the the word “Utah”. Such poor judgement in my opinion. We live in a scary world and they let their little kids roam the streets with no supervision...they are so naive. I thought I was the only one who got really strange vibes from Kevin. I get this feeling he has a deep dark secret. He just creeps me out and I don’t really know why.eacrane wrote: ↑Fri Apr 26, 2019 8:51 pmOMG! Yes! Kevin really creeps me out for some reason. I don't know why, but I just get super strange vibes from him. Maybe his personality just doesn't present well in the vlogs, but I just picture him as being really skeezy and checked out in his family life.
Also, with E & J teaching the boys how to use matches, I bet it is just a matter of time until one of the Griffiths girls is posting a vlog about a fire/fire injury.

It's also a stretch to call putting videos on YouTube once in a while about "shopping with my crush' "owning her own business at 15".
Plus, the _kids_ (who earn the money) didn't get to go to Italy or Greece.

I don't want to dismiss anything that any of you are saying but I wonder if Kevin comes across like that because he is a man. I think that the Griffiths sisters would come cross and be more described as creepy and disgusting if they were men. People overlook their ways and call it innocent words like weird, strange, unheard of. But these women are nasty and sometimes show traits of child abuse (at least emotionally ).Tinkerbell22 wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2019 9:24 pmI thought I was the only one who got really strange vibes from Kevin. He doesn't creep me out. He just seems juvenile and kind of detached. He was acting like a real asshole and Julie's soccer game.
Re: 8 Passengers: Don't Cry Over Lost Footage| Part #11
Abby's weight and height are pretty normal for her age. I wonder why they don't really grow any more when they turn 11-12. Aren't both Ruby and Kevin tall people?
I am only 5'4 myself and was on the track team back in the days. But I agree that Shari's running looks weird. I don't know if it's her legs. There is also a "stiffness" in her upper body. But I guess her coach would have said that to her if it was a problem..

Re: 8 Passengers: Don't Cry Over Lost Footage| Part #11
the thing about Abby's growth is quite interesting, actually. Abby and Shari have different proportions, but they'll still be the same height. There is a vlog from January, called "BEST Birthday Surprise EVER" where the family goes to eat lunch with Kevin on campus. At 4:13 you can see Shari and Abby from behind standing right next to each other. Abby's proportions are pretty normal while for Shari one can see the short legs and longer upper body that she has mentioned herself a couple of times.
The reason that they stop growing so soon seems to be that they start their periods/puberty pretty early. The interesting thing is why they grow so slow/little as children. You would normally expect them to be at least as tall as their mother, especially if the father is taller as well.
Also interesting is that Julie is exactly the opposite. She seems to be growing faster than her peers. Considering her body type one would expect her to start her period later than her sisters.

Does Ruby keep saying 'heighth?' with a 'th' at the end?
Also, while they were at the school for Eve's interview and uby was just filming her running around in the lobby, she is seen running all through some sort of display. Later as the older kids are leaving school Russel says something like 'Eve, you're not supposed to be in there!' So the whole time they were trying to impress the school, Ruby was sitting there filming Eve doing something the students have obviously been instructed not to do. Awesome impression.
If Chad is as much of a pain at school as he seems to be, this school might already have a poor image of the family and getting Eve in might be a challenge. Although those donations will surely help.

Do the Deru crew have their own page? I’m just wondering... I have a lot of questions abt Landon not working at his age and so many kids.

He is teaching, so he is earning some money, and I actually really like that he follows his dreams and is focussing on his career instead of giving up everything for youtube.
