DailyNeglectfulParenting (Part 83)
On Cassie's channel she took Ollie to BBWS he picked a red dragon and Cassie grabbed a two headed green dragon for Finn. (I'm pretty sure she would've let him choose if he were there) I thought it was sweet Cassie thought about Finn even though he wasn't there and omg Finns little happy face when he got his own little dragon!cat9480 wrote:I think they did let him pick his own, though. *cracks knuckles* All right, let's do this.
The doctor may have said it was alright to take Finn out of the house while sick...I don't know...but if my very young child were just diagnosed with possible pneumonia, guess where we'd be? That's right, at home, resting, drinking juice, taking our medications, breathing treatments, humidifiers, cuddling, and making sure we weren't around more germs to make us even more sick.
I'm appalled at these two. APPALLED. I have this feeling in my gut that Missy lied to the doctors and told them she gave Finn his nebulizer treatments as prescribed, when in fact she likely did not. I have this feeling Missy lies to people constantly so that she seems the victim. The wallet situation, Finn's constant sickness, and many other things you clever people have all seen for yourselves.
I'm not a perfect parent. There is no such person. But for the important things in our life: health, education, spiritual upbringing, safety...I don't fail. My children each know they are loved and important to me. I apologize when I make mistakes. I forgive when they make them. I listen to them.
They're not ready to be parents, but they are parents. We talk about Oliver being behind...but Missy and Bryan are the ones who are behind. They have the maturity of teenagers, still. We'll never see them when they're older, but this lifestyle will crush them in time. It will ruin those children unless they wise up and start building a strong family foundation not made of material things.

I've had a slow day at work and I've been reading the Daily Bumps threads, and I keep seeing mention of babies that died and heart defects.
I went to the FAQ thread for this but I couldn't find anything about the heart defect...
What I've gathered so far is that Bryan has some sort of defect that he passed on to Ollie? Is this a factor in why Missy lost two babies prior to Ollie? What is the defect? (I'm just curious because I have a heart defect and plan to have kids in the next few years, so things like this interest me)

Yes, Missy has had two miscarriages. One, they don't know the reason why because it was so early, the second one I think it was attributed to her bicorniute uterus. Don't quote me on that lol.RubyRed wrote:I've had a slow day at work and I've been reading the Daily Bumps threads, and I keep seeing mention of babies that died and heart defects.

As for heart defects, I'm not sure.

Missy lost two babies because she had a septum in her uterus (basically her uterus was split in half). She got it removed surgically, and now she can have healthy pregnancies.RubyRed wrote:I've had a slow day at work and I've been reading the Daily Bumps threads, and I keep seeing mention of babies that died and heart defects.

The heart defect is something they found after birth in ollie and finn. They never updated us on it, but i think they just took ollie in for a heart scan. So maybe they are finally working on it.

The heart issue is both boys have an enlarged valve (I believe), and since both boys have it, it's likely genetic. Both Missy and Bryan need to be checked, because they don't know who passed it down yet.

Jumping over the ridiculous amount of money that that day cost (unless they were sponsored) ...
Did anyone notice Finn pick up and start pointing a toy gun while they were at Build a Bear??? That actually made me really, really sad. Ollie's gun fixation has always creeped me out (most recently in yesterday's vlog where he said something along the lines of "there's bad guys out there. let's kill them"). It's heartbreaking to realize that his little brother is already mimicking him -- why does a 17 month old recognize a plush gun and then know to start aiming it?

I'm assuming they can go to Build a Bear whenever they want, yet they choose to go when Finn is sick and Oliver is supposed to be at swim class. Peyton did swim by herself in Johnson Fams vlog.

Also, did anyone else notice the carpet lines were a day early? They must have had the cleaning lady come a day early because of the big filming at their house... or maybe Missy vacuumed... hahaha!

Are the bumps actually that desperate to do things for the vlogs that they're actually doing the same things a few days apart? This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of! I don't care if their sponsored or not, how can they justify giving him almost the exact same toy days apart. It's not like those are disposable. Like someone else why not do something different with those kids...sea world, legos land, beach, anything except what they do everyday.
As much as I don't care for E and J at least they're doing something with their kids. Jackson is in pre school now. They just went on a road trip to southern Utah and saw all kinds of cool dinosaur stuff, went hiking. Something different and things the kids would enjoy.
All the lumps do is sit around. Bryan seemed so "shocked" that Ollie knew language from an action movie. What do you expect you idiot when all any of you do is sit around and watch movies all day and night.

The only reason E&J are doing that is to collab with Carl and Ginger to create hype for CVX Live. They would be doing an Ellie trip instead if she truly had her way. They are never about the boys, and aren't really that different from B&M in my opinion.janem wrote:So wait.... you mean to tell me Ollie just went to BBWS with Cassie and went again a few days later and got another stuffed dragon??? Jackson going to preschool is a good thing, but that was because Ellie needed a break from him, and not because it was a well thought and planned out thing.

Disclaimer: pure speculation to follow:
I am wondering if some of their parenting choices and overall douchebaggery are part of the lack of "DBEJCK Vacays" this year. They have their own entourage. If I were C&K, I wouldn't want my daughter around Ollie's gun obsession, and Bryan could be lording over the fact that C&K aren't at 500 K subscribers yet. And B&M don't want Gaines upstaging their "advanced" child. Put those two next to each other, and it's SO obvious! E&J seem to be getting deeper into the Utah Mormon vlogger group. The minions seem to be the only ones wanting a "vacay" this year. Even last year, they did stuff separately. Katie wasn't feeling well one day and stayed home, and Cullen went to the pier to get drone footage while the other couples went to the marine mammal thing, and Ellie stayed home from the boat one day. There was an awkward air to things. The last Vlogger Fair, they weren't all attached at each others' hips either.
Any thoughts?

Funny you shoukd mention the lack of EJCKDB interactions. I was just noticing that myself! I'm thinking maybe the forced friendship thing got to be too much for them? C and K always seemed slightly uncomfortable with the others anyway.

Re: DailyNeglectfulParenting (Part 83)
Firstly, it's super obvious that they aren't friends. It's all for views. I don't really think any of them care about what the other families are doing. C&K are busy with moving, Ellie and Jared were building their house, so no winter vacay. There's nothing Bryan and Missy could gain by going on a vacation with E&J or C&K because they have more subs than both of them combined.lmmomSD wrote:I saw that too. Re: DailyNeglectfulParenting (Part 83)
My son is three and has known his ABC's, upper and lower case, since before he was two. He knows all primary colors, can count to twenty, and recognizes most shapes. And I didn't force any of this. Through play he learned all of this.HelloSweetie wrote:^ I think it's safe to say he can't do most of those things. We've seen enough of what he can/can't do.
I'm particularly annoyed about this right now because I have a two year old and I'm seeing how fast he's learning. He counts EVERYTHING, and sings/dances all the time. He's a happy and carefree toddler, as most are. So many YT kids seem to be little performing robots devoid of any independent thought/will and imaginative whimsy.
It definitely frustrates me to see Ollie so behind. I just didn't like the added "well he shouldn't be scribbling and should know how to add and subtract." That's ridiculous. lol he is definitely way behind though.

I'm completing my ph.d in speech-language pathology. As I said, if a four year old is still scribbling it doesn't mean something is wrong, but it is something we ALWAYS investigate because it CAN be a sign that there is something else going on. Ever since my undergrad (my two other degrees are from different universities by the way)Theirmom wrote:I just don't know how accurate this is. My experience is completely different to this. By four years old a child should be drawing shapes and other objects.

My own kids have had art supplies at hand since they could grasp, and none of them could do anything but scribble at Ollie's age. My youngest is six months younger than Ollie. She can sight read all the letters, knows her shapes, colours and a few numbers. But she can't draw them. At best, she can draw a "circle". She holds her pencil correctly, says she's drawing a shape or object, but it's just a scribble.
There are many things Ollie should be doing by this age, but legible drawing is not one of them.
I have always been taught that in the 6 stages of drawing, scribbling ON AVERAGE ends at around age 2.5 give or take a few standard deviations.
Not trying to argue you but this is something I do every day. And never once did I say that this makes Ollie dumb or indicate that something is wrong with him, all I said was it is something to investigate.

How much time have you actually spent with real live children of that age? Because you can collect as many letters after your name as you want, but the anecdotal responses of pretty much everyone who has responded (and the many, MANY children I have known in that age group) has been contradictory to what you've been taught.
Most four year olds scribble. It's incredibly rare for kids under five to draw anything legible. Your text books are books, not children. Spend time with as many four year olds as you can before spouting the whole 'I do this everyday' thing. Because I DO spend everyday with preschoolers, not books, and they scribble.
My sister used to be all pretentious about her education too. Tried to give me all this advice because she knew better, because BOOKS. Then she started actually working with kids and has apologized to all the parents she tried to 'help". Because textbooks aren't kids. And she has had to eat crow repeatedly because kids don't give a shit about what her books taught her.
