Yes of course she’s mentally ill but as you said, it doesn’t excuse her behaviour. Especially when she’s made it clear that she knows what she does is wrong and continues to do it even after acknowledging how it effects the kids.

Yes of course she’s mentally ill but as you said, it doesn’t excuse her behaviour. Especially when she’s made it clear that she knows what she does is wrong and continues to do it even after acknowledging how it effects the kids.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not at all trying to absolve her of responsibility or pretend like she isn't an immature, selfish mouthbreather because she absolutely is. I'm just saying that I think that while Tayler does do a lot of stupid and selfish shit, I think quite a bit of it is because of her mental illness and that getting away from Chuckie would do wonders in regards to moving towards finally being a stable adult. You are all completely right that she goes back to Chuckie of her own free-will, but I think he makes that decision because of her mental illness. Has she ever been specific about her diagnosis? I only ask because while we are two completely different people with two completely different lives, I see quite similarities in general behaviour between Tayler and I. Mind you, I've come from a better and more stable home life so I never did even half the wreckless shit she's done (like bring FOUR human beings into the world with plan to actually get off my ass and take care of them), I've just been more self-destructive than anything. Tayler's family are a bunch of low-IQ hillbillies that either enable everything she does, or know there's no point in trying to reason with her because she won't listen.

That still kinda sounds like I'm excusing her behaviour with her mental state. That's not my intent at all. You all are completely right that she has to help herself. She only realises that when she steps away from Chuckie and either gets with a new guy (that makes her realise Chuckie's a dirtbag). Brian is definitely creepy with the way they got together and everything but I'm sure he's far better than Chuckie in many ways. She's only got this sudden clarity because she's left Chuckie and Brian is back in her life... Ugh, why am I trying to be empathetic? We all know she'll go back to him but sometimes you wanna hope that she'll get better. It's such a shame the healthcare system is so shit in America because she really needs weekly therapy visits, to be put on medication to stabilize her (or changed if she is on something), to move far away from Chuckie and move on. I know this because I did that and it helped immensely with all the mania and chaos.

You also have to remember that even she herself has said her mother was always with different men and talks about how all her brothers have different dads with disdain towards her mother. She keeps going back to Chuckie because she doesn't want to be like her mother (hence why she's obsessed with having all her children to the same man) despite the relationship being utter shit.

Ugh, don't you hate when you almost feel bad for a YT mum like this knowing full well they'll never learn (like Jess or Tayler)? It's Aus Day and I've been drinking a little so I'm blaming it on that. I just feel so bad for her kids knowing that don't have to have the lives they do if their mother would just get the help she needs but she doesn't and probably can't afford it if she really wanted to try.

Here’s the thing - I do feel bad for Tayler, you look at her life and you kinda feel like she never had a chance. Having said that, she’s almost in the best position she could be in. Thanks to the kids, she has secure housing, a relatively stable income, and people who are almost guaranteed to love her unconditionally. What she needs to do is start working on herself so that she doesn’t completely fuck up those children’s lives. They don’t have the best if the best, and likely never will, but if they can see their mum happy in herself, healthy, and motivated, they may have a chance at more than she ever did. She’s old enough now that she needs to start taking responsibility for her own life and her own happiness, and to stop trying to find herself on the end of some guy’s dick

Sorry for the double post but I just wanted to clarify that it's really hard to explain my POV on this without being specific with MI things as to not diagnose her (since we don't know any of her dx). I understand why it's a rule and try to my best to follow it but it does make discussions on here difficult sometimes. I completely agree with all of you that she makes the choices she does and that only she can help herself, I'm just saying when you have mental illness like she does and are surrounded by emotionally abusive people and enablers, it's really difficult to even find where to start with getting help for yourself. She never even had high school counsellors or student advisors to talk to like most did. She literally has no one... besides an internet board of random people who, from her POV, are a bunch of c*nts who judge her every move.

According to her she sees a therapist monthly, so it’s not exclusively the judgey c*nts that are trying to help her...

Getting an abortion was the best option for Tayler in that situation. It is a really difficult thing to go through and I felt bad for her watching that video...until I remembered that she aborted the baby just because of the father. We all know Amity wasn’t an accident like she claims, and she says the reason she aborted the last baby but kept Amity is because it was a different situation. Her situation was no different, if not WORSE with Chuckie.

She wanted another baby for her own selfish reasons but didn’t want a baby daddy that would stand up to her and for his parental rights so she aborted the baby and then immediately jumped into bed with Chuckie. She disgusts me.
