One time, I moved abruptly and she got color on my forehead - it was not even a big deal, but she refused to let me leave before she got it ALL off. Its amazing Missy's "hairdresser" gets that messy and then lets her leave like that! And yeah, that color on her is terrible. She's way too pale.
Some hairdressers leave the color like that because they only condition and don't shampoo. It helps lock in the color a little extra. A hairdresser I had did it, and it was at a really nice salon. But her skin is definitely really fair for a color like that.
That isn't entirely true. Regardless of shampooing directly after color, or days later, your hair is going to fade a little bit. By not shampooing after rinsing out the color, all you're doing is leaving excess color on your scalp - its not locking anything in. The reason salons shampoo you after color is 1. to get all the excess out and 2. to make sure the water is running clear so that you don't go home and freak out when your shower water is colored! Also leaving excess color on your scalp can dye your pillow cases and clothing!
Plus, shampooing your hair will not remove color left on your forehead?? Thats the colorist being sloppy.
Not to mention you should always get your hair colored when your hair is dirty/greasy. If you don't get shampooed, you're leaving the salon with dirtier greasier hair then when you came in. Having greasy hair protects your hair more from the harsh chemicals.
