Pre-approvals only last about 90 days, so they are intending to get a house very, very soon.

Or 120 days. It may be dependent on the state or loan, but that’s how it typically is here.fossilfinger wrote:Pre-approvals only last about 90 days, so they are intending to get a house very, very soon.

Corbin's hair looks like shit. Why isn't he going with Bryan to the hair salon

Wouldn't that be something. I tell you if I was I would spill the beans like crazy!ewokfan11 wrote:Sometimes I think Steps_to_STFU is actually Bryan!!! LOL!Steps_to_STFU wrote:Corbin is scum. Also they flat out said they were no where near buying a house a vlog or two ago. Just looking. Now they're approved for a loan. They keep trying to keep us guessing by saying "might move to idaho." Bitch you're moving home. You and you're wife have failed.

Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
I could be misrembering this, because it's been a year and a half since we went through the process, but if I recall corectly, the pre-approval process was very quick and not terribly thorough. We bought in northern Virginia, and I think we just provided our salary, any debts, and our bank account balance. Then the mortgage broker of course pulled up our credit scores to give us an estimate of the interest rate. It wasn't until the underwriting process that all of this was verified w/ proof of employment, W2s, bank statements, proof of the down payment, etc. Hopefully they were truthful in their pre-approval application and it doesn't fall apart during the underwriting process.ewokfan11 wrote:I wonder if they really did get pre-approved...or if they read here and know we are questioning them about their finances. Also, they should be seriously looking right now if they want to move in when their lease is up in August/September. Buying a house typically takes at least a month with offer negotiations, inspections, paperwork processing, etc. It's a lot easier these days to buy when you are not local, but how are they going to house hunt from SoCal?? Will their parents do the search for them?? Are they going to travel up to Idaho a bunch more times?
Summer is the best time to buy a house up there, so they probably should just move in with Corbin's parents and get a house now. They seriously have no reason to stay in SoCal (they literally do nothing there).
I'm guessing house search requirements include them to be near the one and only Trader Joe's in Idaho. LLLLOOOOOOLLLLLLLLL!
It definitely sounds like either a) his parents gave them a sizeable gift and are potentially co-signing to get them the loan, or b) they're taking advantage of one of those first time home buyers programs where you put very little down, which is dicey in my opinion. You need a sizeable savings account to maintain a home, otherwise if something goes wrong or something breaks you're relying on credit cards. And when you put very little down it's usually not a good financial move because you're paying so much towards interest and have little equity in the home.

I still don't understand why they can't just rent for another year up there, seems way less stressful. It's like they think they have to check boxes before having #2.

Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
I doubt that Corbin and Kelsey chose Idaho as their home base on their own. I think his parents said, "Move back to Idaho and we'll help you with a down payment." We were all speculating why they didn't move closer to family before the baby was born, I don't think they suddenly wised up and matured. I think Kelsey wants a house to check off that box before baby #2. She low-key wants everything that Missy has, even if it doesn't make financial sense. The only way they could purchase is with financial help from his parents, and they would only pony up if Corbin moved close to them. And I highly doubt they have the savings, credit score, or income history to qualify on their own, so his parents are probably co-signing. If their channel doesn't take off and continues to stagnate, they're going to be hard pressed to make that mortgage payment. Corbin has always had the option to quit whatever temporary job and pick up and move to follow the next impulse. That will stop once he has a mortgage.

Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
I wonder if his parent have been helping financially since his “job” with the Lannings ended. Their lifestyle hasn’t changed but it’s obvious he hasn’t been working with them for awhile, somebody is footing the bill.
If it’s his parents I could see them putting their foot down and making them move back if they want the money to keep flowing.

Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
Has anyone watched the "sad news" video yet? Well, it's not sad and it's not at all surprising.
They didn't really seem upset about it at all in the video. If anything, they are probably relieved.
If they truly want to make a difference in others' lives, they need to start with their own community. They just want *any* excuse to travel and get the photographs proving they were on the other side of the world, but there are tons of opportunities within a few miles of where they live to impact others' lives.

A few days ago the bucketlist family announced they were doing the same exact trip to India. So they were pretty much replaced.

Are they taking their kids? It's so weird. The trip doesn't allow kids, but the "celebrities" are taking their kids.wandering_meg wrote:A few days ago the bucketlist family announced they were doing the same exact trip to India. So they were pretty much replaced.

Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
They didn't seem sad, they seemed pissed off! I bet this was awful for Corbin's fragile ego to announce. I just don't think it was good idea or match for their viewing audience from the start. I think most of their viewers are kids or moms with young kids...so it really never made sense to plan a trip with "the viewers" to India.
I bet they only had one or two people sign up and the company canceled the trip due to lack of interest. Sucks for the people who DID plan to go and HOPEFULLY they didn't already ask for time off, buy plane tickets, book arrangements, etc. The Bucket List Family is also going to India with the same company, but their trip is in July, not August.
Corbin and Kelsey don't seem to know their audience at all. I also think they still feel like carefree hipsters who can travel the world...but they are not. They are boring parents now. The Bucket List family are multi-multi-millionaires, so it makes sense that they can travel all the time, and they are Mormons who travel almost full-time, so that adds a more diverse (at least age-wise) audience.
I think reality is starting to get to Corbin. It makes me wonder what they really think about moving back to Idaho—they are really sort of stuck when they get back there.

Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
I always feel for people who leave home and then need to go back for some reason, even if they don't really want to. It took me so long to leave the place where I grew up. I thought I had got away when I went to college, then I ended up moving back with my parents. Then I got an internship on the other side of the world, but came back and lived with my parents again. I ended up getting married and even buying a house there. I thought everything would change when I bought a house and I could plant roots and accept where I was. Finally, six years later, I left and moved to the part of the country I really wanted to be in. My situation is a bit different because my parents actually moved here too, but it really sucks feeling like you're stuck in one place. You think maybe it'll be okay the second or third time you go back and maybe things have changed, but then you always realize there's a reason you tried to leave in the first place. If Kelsey and Corbin's hearts were really in Idaho, I don't think they would have left and stayed away for years, so it's difficult to imagine that they will truly enjoy it this time, even with a house and a kid. Maybe that's just me projecting, though.
Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
Have to agree... he wasn’t sad. I’m sure they’re ticked off that their free trip to India was cancelled. I wonder if that meeting they had in SF with the trip guy was about canceling. I would assume so.
The Bucket List family is so much more engaging than kelsey and Corbin. I think they probably have a more diverse audience that could afford the trip. Like it was said, they’re multi millionaires, so they really aren’t in it for a free trip. I think they’ve done similar ones before.
Corbin thinks he’s on the same level and won’t face the fact that he’s not. He thought they could make a living by filming the van trip. That didn’t work out. Move to super expensive Portland, spouting his love of the outdoors and public transportation. Move to So Cal to be closer to best friends, lannings, and family. Not even there for a year and planning another big move since that whole thing didn’t work out. I almost forgot the big hike that they only went one way and helicoptered out.
Corbin is late 20’s, college educated, yet he’s never really had a job that went anywhere. Being a creator on minuscule is really nothing. Now they want to buy a house?? Really??? Time to grow up.
ps... didn’t they say they were going to be gone for 3 weeks? They were only gone for two. They drove straight for 18 hrs he said on his IG. Wonder why they did that. That’s hard on everyone, especially the baby.

Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
The organization has worked with them before in Nepal and they had their kids there. Their kids travel ALL the time, are pretty smart and the two older ones are older than June (although they just had a baby). The Bucket List Family definitely has their shit together in regard to traveling...Kelsey and Corbin don't. I think Kelsey and Corbin would have complained the entire trip.wandering_meg wrote:I’m assuming they are because from what I’ve seen they haven’t spent a day away from their kids! Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
I am just cracking up over this whole matter. Poor little Corbin. You could almost see his Arthur fist of angry. 1. They either backed out because of the threats or the lack of interest. The only people that find them dreamy are 12 yr olds delusional enough to think being whined at "my love" 24/7 is romantic.
2. The company pulled the plug seeing they didnt have any applicants and found a family with a better following and less of a hassle.
Could you imagine the obnoxious bargaining styles of whine bag there ? "Ugh, how dare you not offer us 5 star accommodations! Dont you know who we are ?"
Notice they mentioned the new expeditions will be closer to home
.. where is that piss pants? Idaho where mommy and daddy are making you move

Re: Steps to Controlling Your Spouse
They have zero business sense if they thought that an expensive trip to India was a good fit with their viewers. It reminds me of the time they thought they had sold the van for a small fortune, only to find out that it wasn't a serious buyer. They never should have advertised their eBay listing to their audience of mostly children. They don't know their audience, and they have no desire to cater to that audience. Period. And that is why they will never be successful in this business.
I don't feel the least bit sorry for them over the fact that they're buying a house in Idaho. If they were willing to work hard, they could live wherever they wanted to. They're both college-educated, but neither one of them has held down a job. They're most likely getting a large cash gift. I'm sure his parents think they're helping, and maybe they even think that this is what they need in order to step up to the plate and take responsibility, but in reality they're just enabling.
I can't believe that they're giving out tips for buying your first home on the Baby League channel. Kind of like their disaster of a cooking show. They're both so arrogant and full of themselves. They act like they've been saving money for a down payment and using the sponsor's tracking tool, but we all know that all they did was accept a gift from mommy and daddy. It looks like he's finally address the question about credit card debt...he says that they had quite a few credit cards but were able to raise their score (presumably by making payments) and consolidated their debt onto a card with a better interest rate.
