As if the vlog wasnt a waste of my day now this history stuff. You guys are giving them too much credit. I really believe they have no clue what they're doing or saying! It's trendy, it's war paint, it's tribal, whatever they believe it is, I dont think they're trying to actually show off their heritage or any other things mentioned about it today. Come on guys.

Re: DailyDoseofClickbait (Part 96)
There isn't a single negative comment on the vlog now. It's all "You're the best family in the world!" And "Who thinks Bryan and Missy should have a girl?" Gag. Not one negative comment. I am bummed.Playsinrain wrote:They call it "war paint" about a million times in the vlog... but nah...they aren't pulling any of this from native American culture at all.
I was happy to see quite a lot of negative comments about said "war paint" on the vlog today.
Also, shame on their makeup person for doing this and being ok with it. If i was n artist and thats what they hired me to do i would tell them exactly how inappropriate this entire thing was and gladly give them back their money. No amount of money on this earth would make me ok with doing something like this. Shame on every single person on the "film crew" of this video as well. I cannot believe that NO ONE out of this whole group of people didn't speak up and tell them it's not ok. Further proof that they have surrounded themselves with money whore yes men...

Not one minion has replied to my comment to tell me how Missy Bryan are the best EVER. And it's still there this morning. Color me surprised.lmmomSD wrote:There isn't a single negative comment on the vlog now. It's all "You're the best family in the world!" And "Who thinks Bryan and Missy should have a girl?" Gag. Also: we haven’t heard Bryan rhapsodize about how “literally amazing” it is to care for plants for at least a week.
That ended quickly. Even for them!

Omg....this. I'm half Filipino. But, i have only met my filipino relatives once in my life. My parents split when I was a baby. I don't go around pretending to be all about Filipino or islander heritage. I couldn't name a filipino dish if you put it in front of me. I put white when I fill put forms. You have to live with the culture in order to claim it.MandyJ wrote:Exactly. Even IF he has NA ancestry, he has never grown up participating in the culture at all. Neither have they acknowledged or cared about Scottish culture or really any other culture but being consumerist and wasteful. They don’t care about these things because of culture or ancestry or heritage. They like it because they think it’s cool, edgy and trendy. And now with this song he is even trying to make a profit off of someone else’s (perceived) culture. (I say perceived because he is cherry picking stereotypical NA things, nothing specific to any particular nation) which is wrong, gross, offensive, etc.rd_valo wrote:I am actually Scottish (and my family have been Scottish from at least the 13th century) and I didn’t find the braveheart reference offensive or racist at all. It is a culture you have an association with due to previous generations, but that doesn’t make it yours. Growing up around it, living it make it yours.sb613 wrote: No the fact that all of my family immigrated to the US from various Celtic lands makes it my culture. Again they're not trying to represent Celtic culture but what they're doing is not cultural appropriation because they're not borrowing any cultural practices from any group that they don't belong to.
Also yeah when I bring up Indigenous European culture and y'all start pretending that all of that boils down to a movie about a time period (post colonization) that I'm not even talking about it seems pretty racist and stupid to me.

What costume do you think Missy is making for Fin?
I was thinking potentially Zero from The Nightmare Before Christmas. That's what it looked like to me but I could totally be wrong.

That’s what I was thinking too. They’ve been mentioning that movie too much for it to not be their Halloween theme.scoopr420 wrote:What costume do you think Missy is making for Fin?

I thought that, too. I could definitely see an OOT Nightmare Halloween special.ButterflyB wrote:That’s what I was thinking too. They’ve been mentioning that movie too much for it to not be their Halloween theme.scoopr420 wrote:What costume do you think Missy is making for Fin?

Is Missy's only "date night" outfit that mess she got from Kandee Johnson?

And what is going on with Missy and Finn and the shield? It looks like she's not paying attention to where it is, and putting it in his face.

I love Nightmare Before Christmas, so...if they could NOT do a big costume thing that would be great...especially because their Halloweens are so embarrassing.
The Toy Story one omg Missy's Jessie. And the Wizard of Oz one (which is one of my favorite movies come on now). It was interesting and clever the way they all "complained" about their characters problems (like I think Bryan was the scarecrow, so he complained about a headache before they "turned"), but it also caused some secondhand embarrassment.
I will only allow Nightmare Before Christmas costumes if Missy (who will obviously be Sally) sings Sally's Song and I get to hear her natural voice. Still embarrassing to get so into character, but it will prove or disprove my theory of her being an okay singer.

But guess what??/ This isn't about you, at all. this is about Missy and Bryan. I think that's the difference you fail to see. Just stop, my god.sb613 wrote:You don't know what culture I grew up around and lived with. (;rd_valo wrote:

Re: DailyDoseofClickbait (Part 96)
LOL too bad not a single one of you could actually explain why this stuff must be particularly affiliated with Native Americans. Y'all see symbols that are completely neutral and not exclusive to any culture at all, definitely not authentically Native American, and because you perceive it as something "stereotypically Native American" insist that it must be Native American. Do you not see how y'all are the ones doing that stereo-typing??? If I were Native American I'd be a lot more offended if someone saw generic face paint and a bone necklace and automatically associated it with my culture because they're too ignorant to realize that those items are pretty much universal human behaviors. If anyone could point out something that they actually specifically stole from Native Americans I'd love to hear it, and I'm still curious why y'all don't complain that they're being offensive to any other cultures that use face paint and the like. Also "war paint" is not some verification that this has to do with Native Americans, war paint is not unique to any cultural group. Good thing people like y'all aren't allowed to make the rules.
Re: DailyDoseofClickbait (Part 96)
Maybe you should just mind your own business. Are you too dense (or biased) to see where she tells me that I'm wrong to identify with my culture because she assumes I wasn't raised around it? That is about me and that's what I'm responding to. If you could just read carefully you wouldn't need to waste your time writing this but I guess I must really trigger you.Playsinrain wrote:But guess what??/ This isn't about you, at all. this is about Missy and Bryan. Man you really are taking this crap personally.. lol take your own advice, "maybe you should mind your own business,," it's a gossip board about youtubers.. seriously, direct that anger towards something that really matters. I don't think anyone here wants to read your irrelevant BS anymore... And please continue with the personal attacks, maybe it will get you banned faster.sb613 wrote:Maybe you should just mind your own business.
